Chapter 1314: Confrontation at the Elevator Entrance
Chapter 1314: Confrontation at the Elevator Entrance
Jack didn't want to be too busy, so he planned to try to grow some pea seedlings in the winter and plant them in the entire small greenhouse.
If the pea tips could be harvested, it would be another delicious dish to be used in hot pot, but sometimes things always come to you on their own.
On the way to the Wheeler home, another retired CIA agent called him on his cell phone. Frank Moses said that the crazy old man Marvin was killed in a bomb in front of him and wanted to ask Jack if he wanted to attend his funeral.
When the call was hung up, Reese in the passenger seat looked at Jack with a changed look, because someone had deliberately turned on the hands-free function.
"That man just now, was it Frank Moses, that Frank Moses?" Although Reese still had a poker face, both his incoherent speech and slightly inflected voice showed his inner unrest.
Jack nodded, and as if he suddenly thought of something, he asked, "I might have to go to Europe in a while. Are you interested in going with me? The kind that allows family members to come along."
Reese looked at the person driving the car seriously, and after a while he said quietly, "If it's related to the two names I heard on the phone just now, I don't think it's a good idea to bring Jessica along."
"Don't worry, the girls will split up with us when the time comes, so there won't be any problem." Jack winked at him.
There are two parts of "Red", and the second part opens with Marvin's fake death, but this time Jack doesn't plan to follow the original plot.
Because the second part also involves a nuclear bomb, a weapon of mass destruction, and it is the legendary briefcase-type red mercury nuclear bomb. If it explodes again like in the original drama, God knows what will happen to the representatives of all parties in the UN General Assembly.
The Russian in this world is much more capable than the one in Jack's previous life. After announcing the action a few months ago, he directly seized air superiority, followed by an airborne assault and a combined chemical armored brigade advance, capturing the actors alive in Kiev. The rest was just an armed parade.
Today's European countries seem to be silent, but the world's tension (from a certain Paradox game setting) is much higher than Jack's previous life. If a nuclear bomb is exploded in Europe at this time, no matter how powerful it is, it may become the fuse of the "Third World War".
So, a guy who is currently just an assistant agent in charge of the FBI has to worry about something as lofty-sounding as world peace.
Of course, world peace needs to be saved, and so does an innocent middle-aged dad who is taking care of a baby.
In an apartment in Brooklyn, Vann Wheeler watched his son open the box, take out the new baseball glove and cheer, a happy smile appearing on his slightly tired face.
After cutting the hot pizza and putting it on a plate, he patted his son Henry's head and said, "Eat quickly. After you finish eating, let's go to the park to play together."
At the same time, a plainclothes Dodge police car quickly turned the corner and a tall, thin white man who had been waiting downstairs of the apartment building hurriedly drove over to greet it. This man was one of Stiles' men who had appeared in a deserted alley this afternoon.
Bald detective Stiles got out of the car with an evidence bag in his hand. When he saw his men opening the bag, he asked, "Reno, what's the situation?"
"We've been keeping an eye on him. Wheeler is at home and I've asked Doyle to keep an eye on him upstairs. He goes to the park for a night run every night and we just have to wait.
I checked the surroundings, there is no concierge, no surveillance, only patrol cars occasionally passing by. "
The tall and thin policeman called Renault looked like he was seeking credit. The Doyle he was referring to was obviously another of Stiles' men, a tall and strong black man.
Stiles nodded in satisfaction, put on his gloves, took out a revolver from the evidence bag, and put the bullets from his pocket into the magazine one by one while talking about the plan. "We'll wait in the hall and kill him right there. After that, take the 'murderer' out, let him run a distance before shooting. Remember to shoot him in the head this time, understand?"
"Of course, of course." Renault nodded repeatedly, followed Stiles to the back of the Dodge, and opened the trunk at his signal.
There was a black man lying in the trunk. It was Robinson, whom Reese had followed before, and the scapegoat chosen by Diane Hansen.
"Who is this guy? Why did that woman Hansen choose him as the 'murderer'?" Renault pulled Robinson out of the trunk and asked curiously.
Stiles shook the revolver at Robinson's head, signaling him to behave himself, and replied nonchalantly, "An ex-convict who was once sent to prison by Wheeler."
Then he grabbed Robinson by the back of the collar, put the gun to his back and pushed him into the side door of the apartment.
The two men pushed the ex-convict who was about to become the "murderer" into the apartment hallway. Renault tiptoed through the corridor and turned off all the lights in the hallway.
After waiting behind a pillar on one side of the foyer for nearly 20 minutes, Stiles finally lost his patience. He used his gun to signal Robinson, who was already scared and sweating, to stay still and not move. He then took out a walkie-talkie from his waist and called his men guarding upstairs.
"Doyle, are you still there?"
The big black man who was hiding in the upper stairwell and secretly watching the door of the Wheeler family heard the call and quickly pressed the call button, "Don't worry, I heard the sound of keys, he will come out soon."
Before he finished speaking, the door opened. Knowing nothing about what was about to happen to him, Wheeler walked to the door swinging his key chain and called out to his son, "Come on, Henry, let's go try out your new equipment."
Doyle heard the sound and looked over, "Damn, he brought a kid with him."
"That's such a shame." After hearing the report from his men, Stiles put the revolver to Robinson's chin with a grim smile on his face. "You are such an irredeemable villain. You are about to kill a man and his innocent child."
"Please, don't do this. You can't do this."
Robinson's sweat mixed with tears slid down his cheeks, his lips trembled as he prayed desperately to God in his heart.
Soon the elevator indicator light came on, and just as Stiles and his man Renault were guarding behind the pillars on both sides of the elevator entrance, waiting for the elevator door to open, a figure appeared silently.
Before Stiles, who noticed something was wrong, could try to warn "Little", Reese put a gun to Renault's chin and covered his mouth with his hand.
The elevator door opened with a "ding" sound, and Jack walked out of the elevator with his hands in his pockets. He looked to the left and then to the right, and was "surprised" to find that the postures of the four people on both sides were surprisingly consistent.
