Chapter 1301 Jubal's Thoughts
Finch glanced at Jack and nodded stiffly. "I tried many ways to save those people while keeping the secret of the 'machine', but as you can see, the success rate was very limited."

Hannah blinked her big eyes. Only then did she understand the whole thing.

She pointed at Finch first and said, “You invented a magical early warning system that can predict not only terrorist attacks but also crimes that may happen to ordinary individuals, but all you can get is the SSN.

That means you need time and people to figure out what’s going on.”

Then she pointed to Reese and said, “Because Jack hid Jessica, you two thought she died in the car accident, so Mr. Finch found Mr. Reese.

Mr. Finch is only one person, but he wants to save the innocent people corresponding to the SSN, and Mr. Reese just has this ability. You both regret not being able to save the people you love in time. This is a perfect match!"

Finch opened his mouth slightly, and after a moment of stunned silence, he nodded dejectedly, "You're right."

Although someone was a little slow to react, his ability to summarize was still very strong. Jack also admired him deeply, but he thought it would be better to make some things clear first.

"But the situation is different now. Reese can just take Jessica and go far away. There is more than one big country in the world that is beyond the reach of the CIA."

"No, I'm willing to accept your invitation. I'm sorry that I mistook you for a rich lunatic before." Reese said as he bowed slightly to Finch and extended his hand to him.

After finishing speaking, Reese looked at Jessica apologetically, "I'm sorry, dear, but I must promise that the tragedy will not happen again. I will not escape again. Some things are enough to experience only once."

Jessica blushed and nodded slightly, expressing her support for Reese's decision. Although she didn't understand a lot of things that everyone was talking about, this gentle woman also had her own judgment criteria.

"Hannah, Jiejie and the others are all good people. I believe in these FBI agents. Protecting the innocent and the weak sounds much better than what you did in the CIA, doesn't it?"

Perhaps it is because sometimes simple ideas can touch people's hearts more directly. The remarks of the two girls were unexpected but reasonable, and indirectly laid the foundation for the cooperation between Finch and Reese.

After the two men shook hands, before Jack could say anything, Jubal unexpectedly stood up and extended his hand to Finch.

"Considering what happened to your friend, I know you may never be able to truly trust us FBI, but this should not prevent us from having some limited cooperation in matters such as saving lives and healing the wounded. What do you think, Mr. Finch?"

Now not only Finch was stunned, even Jack did not expect Jubal to take the initiative to stand up.

God knows he had thought of a lot of excuses in advance but hadn't had a chance to say them yet, such as "for love and justice" and so on.

The guys in the wanted criminal team obviously noticed Jack's stunned expression. Clay said with some dissatisfaction, "I second the motion. Some people protected us too well before and would rather take the risk alone."

Aubrey nodded beside him. "That's right. About nerve agents and nuclear bomb explosions, we can only listen to him bragging about them at the dinner table afterwards."

It felt like he heard some important keywords, and Reese's poker face, which had always been expressionless, showed the same surprise as someone else just now.

"What have you been through in the past few years?"
-
The communication and exchange took up almost half of the morning. Fortunately, Jack had prepared the ingredients in advance. Several girls also helped, and soon the table in the restaurant was filled with various dishes.

Unlike Reese who wolfed down his meal, Finch looked like a British gentleman and ate his meal slowly and leisurely.

It was obvious that he was not used to the way everyone waved their chopsticks to share (fight for) the food on the plate, so Jack served him a separate portion.

Finch ate everything cleanly, and at the end he was very polite and thanked Jack specially.

After helping to clear the table, everyone returned to the living room, some turned on their phones, some turned on their computers. Alice restored the network and communication signals, and Aubrey took out a barrel of sweet wine from the refrigerator as if he was familiar with it, and gave everyone a bowl as a dessert after the meal.

Finch took a bite out of curiosity, then couldn't help but take another bite, and then he got down to business.

"This time the number points to Diane Hansen. She grew up in Detroit and came to New York after graduating from law school. She is single and works as an assistant prosecutor. Her conviction record in the department is second only to her colleague, Ms. Irene Regan."

Jack raised his eyebrows upon hearing the familiar name and quipped, "With this profession it sounds like the suspect list won't be too short."

"How much time do we have?" Jubal asked.

He had just reached a verbal agreement with Finch that the Wanted Criminals Team would regularly obtain the numbers given by the "machine" from Finch, conduct separate investigations, and then feedback the results to him.

Of course, there is no "assessment" such as KPI involved here. It is simply treated as a case. The FBI will be responsible for rationalizing the entire process, mainly removing the "prediction" part in the case closing report.

Jubal's ideas are not complicated, but they are surprisingly convincing.

Since Jack said that there is a mastermind behind this, a private company that wants to seize control of the "machine" and even wants to use it to create something called "cyberpunk", then they have to find a way to cut off this mastermind.

Of course, this is a process that may take several years, and during this time, the Most Wanted Squad will work with Finch and Reese to assist in handling those numbers in the form of crime prevention.

If it is true as Finch said that people associated with those SSN numbers will get into trouble related to serious crimes, it won't take long for the FBI to accumulate enough cases and relevant witnesses.

The NSA is, after all, just a federal department. When the time comes, the FBI will directly reveal its cards and force the NSA to hand over some of the "machine" permissions. Of course, in reality, this is to prevent them from continuing to destroy "irrelevant numbers."

By then, whether it is "internally disclosed" or directly revealing the existence of the "machine" to the public, it will be better than Finch's current situation of being worried and powerless every day.

Crime prevention is also one of the functions of the police. As for things like invasion of privacy, aren't they doing that now?

Even if the final result is to shut down the "machine", it is better than letting it fall into the hands of some ambitious people.
