Police officer Chen Shu

Chapter 382 College Entrance Examination Duty

Chapter 382 College Entrance Examination Duty

This summer is indeed extremely hot. Under the blazing sun, Chen Shu's exposed arms felt scorching. The roadside trees were visibly wilting, and a small river beside the road was steaming hot, seemingly boiling over.

"Taking an exam in this sweltering heat must be really tough."

Having just escorted a student who was almost late to school, Chen Shu dismounted from the newly issued CFMOTO motorcycle and parked it by the roadside. Looking around at the crowded parents eagerly waiting for their children to take the college entrance exam at the school, he sighed inwardly.

"The parents are having a tough time too."

Wiping away sweat, I walked to the huge tent that had been set up to the side. Above the tent were the words: Zhengming District Public Security Bureau's College Entrance Examination Support Service Station.

This shaded area was set up by the local police station as a temporary service point to facilitate parents accompanying their children to the exam. It provides free hot and cold water, seats for rest, and medications to relieve heatstroke and lower blood pressure.

At this moment, Chen Chuan, surrounded by several special police officers and police station patrol members, occupied a chair, crossed his legs, and waved an old-fashioned palm-leaf fan in his hand, while his mouth moved fluently.

"He dared to shoot at us with a crappy gun. I thought this guy was pretty bold, and I was thinking of handing him a cigarette after pinning him down, just to be fair. But it turns out that murderers are just like that. Guess what happened next?"

Chen Chuan squinted and smugly surveyed his surroundings. He saw that the young police officers were all staring at him nervously, which greatly boosted his self-esteem.

He continued, "This guy huddled inside the car, just resting the gun on the window frame and firing randomly at us. Haha, if he could hit us, I, Chen Chuan, would change my surname to his."

One of the SWAT officers, who looked extremely young, asked urgently, "Brother Chuan, how did you get those gunshot wounds?"

Chen Chuan paused slightly with his fan, glanced at the other person sideways, and said nothing more.

Another SWAT officer quickly nudged the young man: "Yan Song, what are you interrupting for? Let Brother Chuan speak slowly."

The young man called Yan Song blushed slightly, but he didn't blame his companion. He just silently quickened the pace of fanning Chen Chuan with the large palm-leaf fan.

A cool breeze is blowing in gusts, which is so refreshing in this hot summer!
Chen Chuan chuckled and walked down the steps, speaking eloquently: "Actually, I wasn't nervous during the shooting exchange. I just felt a little strange. Where did my usual accuracy go? I felt like I could have done it with one shot, but I just couldn't."

"Later, there was no other way but to throw the pistol on the ground and rush over with our Captain Chen. I was hit by a stray bullet, and in the end, Captain Chen alone had to take down the two murderers. Wow, the scene was really exciting!"

Some questioned, "Isn't it a bit of an exaggeration for one to fight two? The other side is armed too."

"How could Captain Chen, who's so amazing, possibly lose? He's already been locked up, and you're still arguing about this?" Yan Song let out a long breath, his words filled with admiration and awe, and frowned as he reprimanded his colleague who had raised a question.

Another person chimed in, "Right, right! Let's go find Captain Chen together and ask him how he took down those two guys."

"I want to know how Captain Chen managed to kill that guy with a single shot." Someone said in a low, mysterious voice, extending their right hand and making a shooting motion.

Since Chen Shu was relieved of his post as deputy battalion commander by the branch bureau, he began to take charge of the newly formed assault team in the brigade, so everyone changed their address from "Captain Chen" to "Team Leader Chen". Although the rank of his position changed from brigade commander to company commander, the respect that many young people in the unit had for Chen Shu only deepened.

His prestige within the brigade was no less than that of the brigade commander or deputy instructor.

The reputation of being a "workaholic" and the bloody record they have earned are undeniable facts. For the young and energetic members of the SWAT team, having such a senior is something they admire wholeheartedly, and they can't help but feel a sense of longing for him in private.

"Alright, alright, stop listening to Chen Chuan's nonsense. One of them is a terminal cancer patient, and the other is a middle-aged fat man who has limped. It would have been the same result no matter who was in their shoes." Chen Shu walked into the tent from outside and herded a group of young team members who were surrounding Chen Chuan to go outside to take their posts.

Although no one would dare to wander around during the national college entrance examination, the Zhengming District Special Police Brigade still needed to project an image; otherwise, all that money spent on fancy equipment would be wasted. It all came at a price, and they needed to produce some results to impress their superiors. Sometimes, appearances matter just as much as performance.

"Chen Chuan, how's your recovery going? Are you feeling alright?" Chen Shu walked over with his motorcycle police helmet, picked up a bottle of mineral water from the table and tossed one to Chen Chuan. He then unscrewed a bottle and gulped down more than half of it himself.

“Good people are always blessed, no problem! Hey, what kind of award do you think the bureau will give me this time?” Chen Chuan put down his legs, turned around and sat down in the chair, fanning himself with a large palm-leaf fan, his eyes full of anticipation.

"A third-class merit award is the minimum requirement; get ready to treat everyone."

"It's a pity you were demoted, otherwise we would have double happiness."

"Look at what you're saying. I'm just a nobody deputy section chief. You're actually giving me too much credit by using the word 'demoted' on me." Chen Shu put down his water bottle and mocked himself. Just then, a familiar voice came from behind him.

"Brother Shu, are you here on duty today?"

"Why are you here!" Chen Shu was surprised to see Yan Chenxi here, and his tone revealed a hint of joy.

Today, Yan Chenxi wore slender high heels, her skirt only reaching her knees, revealing a pair of long, straight legs. She wore a white short-sleeved shirt with a floral pattern, and her exposed tanned skin gave her a healthy and beautiful look.

This outfit was completely different from her usual neat business attire, and Chen Shu was stunned.

Looking at Chen Shu, who had come to his senses, she smiled brightly.

"Yes, my younger brother is taking the college entrance exam today, so I just came to take a look. I have to leave in a bit. And who is this?" Yan Chenxi was so busy greeting people that she didn't notice that there was a familiar person standing next to Chen Shu. She was stunned for a moment, but then she immediately realized who it was.

She looked him up and down a few times, then smiled and said, "Chen Chuan, are you healed?"

"Thanks to you, okay!"

She's a pretty girl, and a high-ranking leader at the department head level. How did she end up falling for that unlucky guy, Chen Shu?

Chen Chuan didn't want to be a third wheel for his brothers, so he raised his arm and pointed outside: "I've rested enough, I'll go outside for my duty first, you guys chat."

Now, only Chen Shu and Yan Chenxi remained in the huge tent.

Yan Chenxi tilted her head and took a few steps closer, then brought the plastic bag she had been carrying on her back to Chen Shu: "Brother Shu, I just happened to bring some fruits to cool you down in the summer. Try some later."

Chen Shu smiled and accepted the gift, then invited Yan Chenxi to sit down and chatted casually for a while.

He had assumed Yan Chenxi would ask him about the killing of the murderer, like the others, or at least mention it briefly. However, their conversation consisted entirely of mundane family matters, and towards the end, she only lightly mentioned that their joint patrol team had received approval from their superiors.

There was no mention whatsoever of the police killing incident that had already caused a great uproar in Dongzhou City.

This made Chen Shu, who had been under a lot of stress lately, feel very comfortable.

"Brother Shu, your bureau leaders are here," Yan Chenxi whispered, peeking outside a few times.

"Saw."

Chen Shu snapped out of his comfortable conversation with the two, smiled, straightened his police uniform, and strode out to greet them.
