Police officer Chen Shu

Chapter 332 Evacuation

Chapter 332 Evacuation
Yangyi Street, a certain road.

Four Ford Transit troop carriers belonging to the Zhengming District Special Police Brigade were blocked off the road by a large crowd of onlookers and official vehicles from other units.

Despite the driver's efforts to honk the horn and siren, the scene was too chaotic, and the convoy could not move forward an inch.

Chen Shu, who was sitting in the passenger seat, leaned most of his body out of the car window, then stood on the window frame while holding onto the roof, looking out at the overpass in the distance.

In the pitch-black night, a ship cabin, more than thirty meters long, was stuck upside down on the ground, leaning straight against the side of the viaduct, which was about twenty meters high.

The snow-white car body pointed straight to the sky, with streaks of lightning behind it, stark white.

Chen Shu took out a walkie-talkie: "Except for the driver, all team members get out of the car and take all the tools, first aid kits, and other items from the trunk. After forming a team, run forward."

More than 30 team members ran off the vehicle one after another and quickly formed two columns under the command of the two squadron leaders.

Chen Shu waved his hand and led the way, running towards the accident scene. There was no need to ask for directions; the towering, snow-white car was the most conspicuous signpost.

Because the scene was located near suburban farmland, and there had been several heavy rainstorms recently, Chen Shu and the other special police officers trudged through the muddy, filthy fields as they made their way there. They paid no heed to the foul stench of the muddy fields, their eyes fixed only on the chaotic scene ahead.

Running alongside them was a group of doctors and nurses in white coats. They ran haphazardly, one of them a young woman carrying a rather large medical kit, close to Chen Shu's side.

Her long hair, soaked by the rain, hung loosely on her forehead and back, and her white robe was also soaked through, but she bit her pale lips and kept running.

As they ran, Chen Shu reached into the other woman's first-aid kit, met her surprised gaze, and smiled, "Stay close. I'll return it to you when we get there."

As he spoke, he took out a walkie-talkie and shouted, "Attention all units, cease marching now! Cessate marching! Brothers, help the doctors and nurses carry their things. Concentrate near that red fire and rescue vehicle ahead."

Disband! "

To expedite the process and get the doctors working together quickly, Chen Shu issued this instruction by shouting loudly to the doctors running alongside him.

In a flash, a large portion of the team members scattered and rushed to the doctors and nurses nearby, some carrying medicine boxes and others carrying stretchers.

Black and white were mixed together, but the scene didn't become chaotic. Everyone held their breath, hoping to get to the overpass as quickly as possible.

The crowd was full of people.

There were temporary commanders standing on the truck bed, holding a megaphone in their left hand and waving excitedly with their right to control the scene; there were firefighters carrying stretchers, running in and out; there were nearby villagers pushing an ambulance out of the deep pit and rushing to the next vehicle that had fallen into the pit; and there were also armed police officers carrying thick ropes, shovels and other tools, shouting slogans as they entered the scene one after another.

Although everyone was dressed differently, the scene was orderly and the division of labor among the various units was clear. Chen Shu could see clearly that there was a leader directing the operation.

Squadron Leader Xu Mingliang ran over: "Chief Chen, the team is all lined up, what's next? Should we just rush in and help?"

Chen Shu glanced at the open tent that had been set up not far away, with high-powered outdoor lights hanging on it, making it extremely conspicuous in the dark scene.

He knew that a leader must have come to oversee things, and that if his thirty-odd men rushed into the central area without warning, it might cause some minor disturbances.

"Tell everyone to rest where you are, I'll go check over there."

Chen Shu ran to the tent and immediately saw several municipal bureau leaders in police uniforms, along with some local leaders wearing black jackets and white shirts.

"At the same time, the accident site was divided into three combat sections: the ground under the bridge, the vertical carriages, and the viaduct surface. Each carriage was designated as a rescue point, and a comprehensive search and rescue operation was launched, ensuring that each searched area was marked and that the search was carried out layer by layer to ensure that no one was missed."

Chen Shu walked up to a familiar-looking leader from the municipal bureau and said in a low voice, "Director Wang, I am Chen Shu from the Zhengming District Special Police Brigade. We have more than 30 people here. What are the arrangements?" Director Wang turned his head and immediately recognized the man in front of him as Chen Shu, the special police officer who had subdued the kidnapper in the train station kidnapping case more than two months ago.

He pulled Chen Shu outside the tent and pointed to the tunnel entrance not far away, saying, "You've come at the perfect time. We're short-handed on the bridge right now. Take your men up from here through the tunnel entrance; there are steps leading up."

Once you're up there, you don't need to worry about the cabins that collided directly. Your job is to guide the passengers out of the tunnel. Yes, have them come down the steps you came up on. After all the passengers in the tunnel have been evacuated, you can come down for repairs.

Chen Shu stood at attention, accepted the order, and left.

On the viaduct, inside the tunnel!

Chen Shu stood at the passenger cabin door, poked his head in and looked around. Because of the power outage, it was pitch black inside and he couldn't see anything.

Turning on his flashlight, which was running low on battery, Chen Shu walked in, calling out as he went. He looked at each row of seats, and even checked the restrooms in the corridor.

Following the instructions he had received earlier, he arranged for most of his team members to set up posts every 20 meters along the evacuation route, and then assigned six mobile posts to assist passengers with mobility issues during the evacuation.

The remaining few people followed him, checking each carriage one by one to see if anyone was still inside.

After checking twice to confirm that the passenger cabin was empty, Chen Shu returned to the overpass to help evacuate the passengers.

After about three hours, the work was finally completed, and all passengers on one side of the tunnel were evacuated.

Chen Shu ordered Xu Mingliang, the captain of the first company, to lead his troops to the open space where they had previously been organized to rest. The driver had already brought in the troop transport vehicle. Yang Chang, the captain of the second company, led a few people to the temporary command center to collect some bottled water and dry rations.

He himself remained at the tunnel entrance, just in case.

With the road deserted, Chen Shu found a slightly cleaner small platform to sit down, lit a cigarette, and watched the crowds coming and going below the overpass as he smoked.

My mood has calmed down a bit now.

A while later, a firefighter ran from the center of the accident.

"Brother, where are you guys?"

Looking at the other person's dirty face, streaked with black and gray, Chen Shu estimated that he was only eighteen or nineteen years old.

He stood up and asked with a smile, "Everyone has gone to rest. Is there anything you need?"

It was cold in the middle of the night. The young firefighter wiped his nose and said embarrassedly, "Our squad leader asked me to come and ask you to send a few people to help."

Chen Shu chuckled, lifted his foot and walked in the direction the firefighters had come from, asking as he went, "Let's go, I'll go with you. By the way, what kind of help do you need?"

The young firefighter followed, but did not answer.

Just as Chen Shu was about to ask again, thinking the other person hadn't heard him clearly, a heavy voice came from behind.

"There are too many corpses, I would like to ask you to help move them."
