Police officer Chen Shu
Chapter 244 Preparations
Chapter 244 Preparations
Zhongshan Police Station, third-floor office!
Time flies, and in the blink of an eye, it was already evening.
Chen Shu sat at his desk and reviewed the case he had arrested the night before with Li Chaoyang, who had just woken up, hoping to uncover a few more drug addicts.
"Senior brother, he's just a drug addict who sells drugs to support his addiction. He contacted his supplier through QQ. After we caught him, it took some time for him to confess everything. His supplier has long since disappeared." Li Chaoyang said regretfully, touching the brand-new case file in his hand.
"Where are the buyers?" Chen Shu estimated that arresting a few drug users would be enough, since it was a police station after all, and the main quota was still on drug users.
Upon hearing this, Li Chaoyang's face immediately fell: "We didn't catch them, and the chain of evidence isn't complete. When we went to the legal department to approve the detention this morning, Teacher Li put us on suspicion of possessing O drugs."
Chen Shu comforted him, "It's okay, you've only been doing this for a few years, it's normal. Everyone goes through this."
Then he made a scissor-like gesture: "Does that person still have old customers on WeChat and QQ?"
Li Chaoyang thought for a while before carefully saying, "This kid is probably a novice. He used to pay for his own goods. He lost his job a few days ago and decided to start doing small-scale packaging. He only has this one customer."
This situation is indeed normal.
Even if he has regular customers, he won't confess. The reason is simple: his sentence won't be reduced just because he confesses to a few more users. In fact, some people are caught red-handed selling marijuana by the police, with witnesses and physical evidence, yet they still deny it to the death.
Chen Shu rested his chin on his hand and thought for a while before deciding to talk to his "old friend" Zheng Tianyou about the matter and mention his current difficulties. After all, these were targets imposed from above, and he had no choice but to accept them.
After a long while, Chen Shu put down his phone with a smile and said, "Chaoyang, the informant gave me a clue about an Omega. I'll send you the address after I receive the message. Could you please go and bring the person over?"
Since the last gambling case, informant Zheng Tianyou has owed Chen Shu a favor. Now, taking advantage of the bureau's ice-breaking operation, Chen Shu asked him to "play the lottery" and produce a few more quotas.
Li Chaoyang nodded in agreement.
Cases involving ox use are difficult to handle because the individuals usually use it alone at home or in hotels, except for one who delivers it. There is no social contact or direct impact, and the police cannot simply show up at their door.
Cases involving oxen are easy to handle in some ways, because it's a small circle; deliverymen and errand runners are all easily found. Especially those who have been using oxen for a while, they all think they're getting away with it, but in reality, they've been watched for a long time, just waiting for the police to pay them off.
There are a lot of people in this circle who make a living off dogs.
After a pause, Chen Shu added, "I'll take half of the special espionage fee for this case."
The special expenses for drug use are allocated by the bureau at a rate of 500 per person. Now, during the special period of the "Breaking the Ice" operation, the institute will provide an additional 500 per person as usual.
Chen Shu took half of the special agent fee and gave it to Zheng Tianyou. It was like dog food money. Although Zheng Tianyou still owed him a favor, Chen Shu still intended to do business with him for the long term. The rules couldn't be broken; things had to be done the way they should be.
The remaining half is left for the police officers handling the case to decide themselves. They can either keep it themselves or give half to the auxiliary police officers accompanying them in the arrest. According to the rules, it is up to them to decide.
Li Chaoyang nodded, grabbed his coat from the armrest, and got up to walk out.
Chen Shu instructed, "Remember to take proper protective measures."
Those who use drugs all have illnesses, and this group is adept at using their own characteristics to resist police arrest. In previous years, Chen Shu had seen quite a few people carrying syringes or scissors, shouting that they had AIDS, but in the end, they still had to face the consequences.
Li Chaoyang smiled and said, "Understood, Senior Brother."
After Li Chaoyang left, Chen Shu thought he should go and check on Lin Fan, the new auxiliary police officer in charge of the detention room, since the detention room was a very important place and could not be taken lightly.
The detention room was relatively quiet today, with only one old dine-and-dash bastard. This kind of person can only be locked up for ten or so hours and then released, which doesn't serve any purpose of punishment or education.
Detaining people was really just a show for the restaurant owner who was being exploited, a way of giving an explanation. Chen Shu stood at the door and looked around. The old fox was still grinning and nodding at him, while the new college student auxiliary police officer was only focused on fiddling with his phone, completely unaware that someone was standing behind him.
The iron gate opened quite loudly, and Lin Fan was sitting just a few steps away from it, so why didn't he react at all?
Chen Shu approached with some skepticism and took a look. He found Lin Fan looking at online course materials for the civil service exam on his phone, and jotting down notes on important points in a notebook next to him.
This attitude toward learning is commendable, but it depends on the occasion and time.
The rules for the detention room prohibit auxiliary police officers from using their mobile phones during working hours. These rules are clearly stated in black and white and are displayed in the most conspicuous place on the wall. In the past, Chen Shu thought that as long as there was no one in the detention room, it wouldn't be a big problem for the auxiliary police officers to look at their phones for a while, since it was indeed not easy to work 24-hour shifts.
"Your name is Lin Fan?" Chen Shu asked.
"Yes."
The auxiliary police officer, who was called Lin Fan, turned around and saw a young police officer calling him. He reluctantly put down his phone and stood up.
Lin Fan looked to be in his early twenties, wearing black-rimmed glasses, with fair skin and a refined appearance, looking like a college student.
After all, he was a newcomer who had only been there for half a month, and a college student at that. Old Zhao figured he couldn't reason with him. Chen Shu pondered for a while, thinking about how to explain the rules of the detention room without hurting the college student's self-esteem.
At this moment, Lin Fan saw that the police officer had only greeted him and had not assigned any tasks, so he turned around and sat back down in his seat, picked up his phone and started looking at the courseware, playing it at a loud volume.
This sudden change caught Chen Shu off guard.
He pulled up a chair and sat opposite Lin Fan, tapped the table, and said emphatically, "Lin Fan, has Old Zhao explained the rules of this detention room to you?"
As he spoke, he pointed to the "Detention Room Regulations" hanging on the wall by the door and added, "Have you seen these regulations?"
Lin Fan now realized that the police officer in front of him was there for him.
He curled his lip and said nonchalantly, "I saw Old Zhao looking at his phone in the detention room. Besides, there's only one person here who dined and dashed. He'll be released after a few hours. He certainly won't harm himself or commit suicide."
As soon as he said that, Chen Shu knew that Lao Zhao must have told him about the rules of the detention room, but the other party probably hadn't taken it to heart.
Chen Shu patiently explained, "Although this man shouldn't be capable of self-harm or suicide, there's no guarantee he won't have a mental illness and suddenly have a fit, banging his head against the wall. Or perhaps he has a heart condition and was sitting quietly here when he suddenly had difficulty breathing and fainted, requiring emergency treatment."
If that really happened, do you think someone looking down at their phone like that would notice?
Lin Fan's eyes darted around, and he retorted, "I just asked him, and he said he doesn't have a mental illness or heart disease."
Chen Shu coughed and said gently, "Most people in society don't have the habit of getting physical checkups, and sometimes they don't even know they have any diseases."
Lin Fan spread his hands: "Then it's not my fault. I asked him, and he said he wasn't sick. Look, he signed it too."
Chen Shu was speechless for a moment. On the surface, the young man's explanation did make some sense. He had been in the station for seven years and had mentored quite a few young auxiliary police officers, but he had never met someone as eloquent as Lin Fan before.
Although Chen Shu had told Lao Zhao in the morning that it was for the newcomers' own good and that they should be scolded, when the time came, he was too shy to continue lecturing them.
Chen Shu glanced at the person sitting in the corner, watching him excitedly, and felt a surge of annoyance. He immediately decided that after his shift ended today, he would notify Zheng Jie, the captain of the auxiliary police team, to arrange for Lin Fan to report to the surveillance team. With this kind of work attitude, keeping him in the detention room would inevitably lead to problems sooner or later.
These college students probably wouldn't want to join the field patrol team or the plainclothes team.
