Chapter 393 The Imprisoned Strange Man
"Mr. Lin, please come with me."

After breakfast, Ma Wencai led Lin Chen to a separate house at the back of the manor.

Ma Wencai opened the door, but instead of pushing it open, he turned to look at Lin Chen and said, "Mr. Lin, I hope that you will keep everything you see next a secret and not reveal it to anyone."

Lin Chen smiled slightly: "I only treat patients."

Ma Wencai nodded in satisfaction: "This concerns a secret of the Ma family. If it is leaked, the consequences will be severe. Therefore, I must give you this special instruction. I hope Mr. Lin will not mind."

Lin Chen smiled and said, "I understand. Protecting patients' privacy is a doctor's professional ethics."

Ma Wencai then pushed open the door and entered the room. Lin Chen looked around and saw that the room was filled with all sorts of tools and instruments; it seemed to be a tool shed.

There was no one in the room. Just as Lin Chen was wondering, Ma Wencai turned a toolbox on the shelf next to him, and a small square slid open in the wall, revealing a combination lock keypad.

Ma Wencai entered a long password, and the floorboards near the wall suddenly moved and slowly pulled open to reveal the entrance to a basement. There were neat steps leading down to the underground.

Is the patient in the basement?

Lin Chen's mind was already racing with countless scenarios; this journey to cure his illness was likely to be different from the past.

Following behind Ma Wencai, Lin Chen went down the stairs and climbed about fifty steps before his feet finally touched the floor of the basement.

The basement was spacious, but still empty.

Ma Wencai entered the password again, and the wall in front of them suddenly moved, slowly and steadily sliding open to both sides.

Behind the wall was a room that wasn't very spacious. Inside the room was a middle-aged man with long, disheveled hair. Shockingly, his hands and feet were each bound by a thick steel chain.

The other ends of the four chains were deeply embedded in the wall, each about three-quarters the length of the room, which meant that the middle-aged man's activity area was limited to the center of the room.
