The Most Powerful Brain in the Interstellar Space
Chapter 70, Class 89983-2
Chapter 70, Class 89983-2
Compared to the first and second days when she was like a rootless duckweed, on the third day, Jiang Hui was able to calmly open her eyes from her dormitory bed, ruffle her hair, and then turn on her personal terminal to check the time.
Last night, she finally got a full night's sleep in the real world. She had spent the night assembling an interesting miniature model in her mental space, but couldn't get it right no matter how hard she tried. Furthermore, Jiang Hui discovered she lacked a lot of basic knowledge during the process, so she had to stop and spend over ten hours reviewing introductory mecha training materials.
Although it was just a very basic guidebook that all mecha pilots needed to read to get started, similar to a phonics book in kindergarten, it has to be said that having some basic knowledge is completely different from having no basic knowledge at all.
After reading this introductory training book, she could assemble miniature mecha models with ease, though not as smoothly as chocolate, and she felt much more confident.
Jiang Hui secretly considered whether she should buy a few more basic books to study later. Once she fully understood how to assemble the miniature mecha, she could buy tools and materials to assemble the mecha and then sell it—that would be a pretty good way to make money, Jiang Hui comforted herself.
Today is the last day for registration. If new students cannot register today, they will basically lose the opportunity to study on campus this academic year and will have to wait until next year.
However, most people are still very enthusiastic about going to school. Most people were already in place yesterday, and today there were only a few scattered groups of new students arriving to register.
Most people on the street were already wearing their new school uniforms. If you didn't look at how new or old their clothes were, you probably wouldn't be able to tell who were freshmen and who were returning students.
Jiang Hui didn't act as the class liaison today, because there wasn't much for her to do. After breakfast, she originally planned to stroll around the campus with the crowd.
She preferred to go to the school library, hoping to find a few books to read in the library.
To be honest, Jiang Hui didn't even know that she was such a person who loved reading and learning—even though it was out of necessity.
Since arriving in interstellar space, she has gained twenty-four extra hours in her life. Jiang Hui has also fallen in love with reading, a fulfilling activity, because it is almost the only way she can reasonably pass the time in her mental space where she has everything but no internet.
However, as the saying goes, plans can't keep up with changes.
On her way to the library, she received the first announcement from her class advisor in the computer-connected class group, instructing her to report to the Combat Individual Soldier Department 89983-2 at 1:00 PM after lunch. She was told to arrive on time, or she would be responsible for the consequences of being late.
She glanced at the time again and realized it was already past nine. If she went to the library and then came back for lunch, she could make it in time, but since it was time to register for her new class at the start of the semester, even if classes hadn't started yet, she should at least tidy herself up.
Of course, she wasn't referring to elaborate dressing up and makeup, because she was already studying individual combat skills—why would she need to do that? Besides, at her age, she was only considered a middle school student on Earth, where dressing up was strictly forbidden, and hair had to be cut very short to be allowed in the classroom. Although it wasn't explicitly required here, Jiang Hui still understood what to do.
Anyway, she'd go to the library another time; the books in her mental space were enough for now. Jiang Hui planned to go back to her dorm to get ready, and then report to her class when it was time.
After all, they had said "you'll bear the consequences," so Jiang Hui couldn't ignore it. So, halfway to the library, he turned back, grabbed some instant food from the vending machine downstairs in the cafeteria, and went straight back to his dorm.
...No wonder it's the single dormitory furthest from the teaching area.
Jiang Hui finally understood why the staff during her dormitory period repeatedly emphasized to her that the dormitory was far from the teaching area—because it really was far.
The teaching area is located in the front third of the campus, but her dormitory is almost at the very back edge of the school. She has to walk there to class, which takes almost a week, and it's absolutely agonizing.
This design is unreasonable. Jiang Hui couldn't understand the school's purpose in designing it this way. She thought there must be some other hidden matter that she didn't know about.
Fortunately, Jiang Hui is a very punctual person. She usually leaves home well in advance for whatever she needs to do or who she's meeting. So when she arrived at the classroom, there was still plenty of time, around 12:00.
However, it was probably because everyone else's dormitories were relatively close. When Jiang Hui hurriedly pushed open the classroom door, she found that the classroom was already full of people. Although she wasn't among the last to arrive, she was still considered one of the later ones.
Jiang Hui breathed a sigh of relief and quickly found a seat that was close enough to move around in. She decided that she would have to leave home earlier every day from now on, otherwise she would be late for class.
Clarence, who was probably among the later arrivals, was sitting near her, not far from her. He saw her come in, but didn't greet her, just glanced at her.
Jiang Hui guessed that the other person was taking this as a greeting, so she politely returned the glance. The two then looked away as if they had never met before.
The interstellar world truly lives up to its reputation as a melting pot of races. Since arriving here, Jiang Hui has seen many people of different skin colors, hair colors, and eye colors, living in this interstellar world without regard to nationality.
So naturally, her classmates came from all races: blondes with blue eyes, brown-haired and brown-eyed people, Germanic people with high eyes and deep noses but black hair, people with jet-black skin, and many who looked like mixed-race individuals. On the other hand, there were relatively few people of Chinese-Korean descent like Jiang Hui, only two or three in the class, and they all looked rather quiet, at least outwardly.
School starts everywhere, and while interstellar culture differs from Earth's, the patterns are similar. Everyone is unfamiliar with each other, and even those who want to get to know each other often find communication a bit stiff, but they are genuinely getting to know one another. Only a few students seem rather awkward and withdrawn, sitting in their seats waiting for their class advisor to arrive.
Jiang Hui actually belongs to the latter category; she is a passive person in social relationships. Although she was already quite old before transmigrating, having spent more than a decade in her student days, she still instinctively felt a little apprehensive before entering the classroom.
But when she actually sat in her seat in the classroom, surrounded by the noisy crowd, Jiang Hui's tension gradually dissipated, and she felt a little amused and exasperated, wondering if she was getting more and more like a child.
She was gradually influenced by the youthful and energetic atmosphere of her classmates and began to integrate into their world.
