Chapter 527 Restoration (Part 1)

The arrival of nearly 300 candidates caused a brief period of chaos.

It was truly that kind of chaos.

The exam ended in an extremely absurd manner, leaving the candidates, who had arrived full of hope and high spirits, utterly bewildered. Was this the first step in their anticipated military career? Was this their driving test?

It's chaotic, or rather, it's been chaotic from the very beginning. From the invigilators to the examination room to the current forced reconvening, everything seems utterly absurd.

Many of them were injured in the chaos, or their mechs were severely damaged in the accident. They were eventually rescued from the vortex by the sergeants, but they still failed the test... They had thought that they might not be able to pass the test, but certainly not in this way.

Those who were already dissatisfied with Phillips' arrogant declaration became even more resentful after experiencing this chaos. Now, being inexplicably brought here again would make anyone unhappy. Rather than going somewhere unknown to cooperate with an investigation, they would rather return to their base to recuperate and at least process today's unexpected events.

So the invigilators at all levels had to put in a lot of effort to barely get these high achievers to calm down and wait for instructions.

When they arrived, they found the atmosphere here quite unusual, and the composition of the personnel was clearly different from the test site they had just visited. This place resembled a military outpost, with warships moored near the shore, their flags flying high, and soldiers standing guard at various posts below, displaying impeccable military bearing. It was clear that this was a highly disciplined force.

Two advanced mechs, at least A-class or higher, were parked on the shore, seemingly suffering considerable external damage. One of them had a large gash in its midsection, and the cockpit showed signs of forced entry. Both mechs were in a temporary emergency parking state, their owners were nowhere to be seen, and the surrounding areas were cordoned off to prevent unauthorized access.

Then they saw their proctor, Phillips, who had been away from the team for a long time, and another officer who was not unfamiliar to them, under the two mechs.

Isn't this the officer who last appeared on the Dragon Soar that day?! Even some of the aristocratic family members present recognized him. However, the people around him…

The slightly disheveled boy, mixed in with the crowd, recognized her and looked somewhat puzzled.

Before everyone could figure out what was going on, a T-shaped spaceship landed in mid-air, landing on an open space not far from its fuselage.

A group of people emerged from among them, all dressed in distinctive dark black military uniforms, with embroidered patterns and badges representing the Military Law Department on their collars, cuffs, and sashes.

The leader was a bright and elegant female lawyer, exuding an intellectual aura from years of immersion in books, as well as a sharp insight into the truths of the world, inspiring awe in all who beheld her. The rest of the legal staff, also radiant and spirited, followed behind her in an orderly fashion.

With the various parties gathered, the atmosphere suddenly became somewhat tense.

Of course, some people are unaware of the situation, while others are unaffected.

Zongting, as the contact person for reporting, summarized the whole matter on behalf of the examiner. Phillips, however unwilling, had no choice but to step in, since as the proctor in charge of the exam, no one had more authority to explain the situation than him.

Zong Ting, representing the group, recounted the entire process of Jiang Hui's self-rescue, his arrival on shore, and Sanger Taylor's successful rescue. Then, Phillips, from the perspective of the invigilator, described the entire incident and its development, including some unusual points in the investigation and evidence gathering. Throughout the process, different law enforcement personnel were responsible for recording the events from different directions, angles, and methods. For each relevant point, dedicated personnel went to investigate and collect evidence, which would be submitted as the basis for the entire case; falsification was strictly prohibited, otherwise the military would reserve the right to pursue legal action.

However, the main subjects of this accusation were not them. The judge took the background of the incident from the two individuals as the general direction, extracted relevant data, and finally came to the stage of questioning the prosecutor.

The judge, who was staring intently at the disheveled girl, did not treat her differently because she was not fully awakened. Instead, he earnestly and impartially confirmed the details of the case with her.

After verifying Jiang Hui's identity information and willingness to file charges, the lawyer-judge asked, "Can you provide any concrete evidence? We need to further confirm the suspect's identity."

This is a necessary and crucial step. If Jiang Hui cannot provide the necessary information, the subsequent charges cannot proceed and the case will have to be transferred to the military for investigation.

Jiang Hui lowered her eyes: "Yes." This was something she had already thought of, having gone through it in her mind more than ten times. Although she couldn't say she was 99% sure, she was about 50-60% sure—at least it could help her determine who the person who harmed her was.

The female judge, who had remained calm throughout, showed a hint of interest in her eyes: "Oh? Explain in more detail."

Jiang Hui described the entire process of her attack, including how she saw the attacker appear behind her and attempt to sever her spine, as well as how she escaped.

It wasn't just vague clues, but a clear and precise description. The model, color, size, and some mutated structures of the attacking mechs were described in great detail, down to the degree of misalignment of a certain structure's buckle. It was hard to believe that this was just what she saw in a moment of panic.

Jiang Hui spoke fluently without a single pause, using formal, professional, and accurate terminology—a level of proficiency that even some forensic investigators might not achieve. This prompted the judge to glance at her several times.

She wasn't unfamiliar with detailed testimonies, but she never expected to hear such a detailed, well-reasoned, and logical testimony from someone who wasn't fully awakened. All of these points were enough to establish a single point of reference, and once they all matched up, it was impossible to easily deny them.

The scene was quiet. From the moment Jiang Hui began to speak, the candidates who had been whispering fell silent. They gradually realized what kind of storm they had been caught up in—

Murder. And a premeditated murder during an exam, with the perpetrator hidden among the other test-takers, coupled with this unusual series of events that swept through the entire venue... it's hard not to have many thoughts.

Of course, although Jiang Hui's statement seemed very rigorous, it was only one side of the story, and verbal testimony alone was insufficient—they needed more powerful and conclusive evidence.

Jiang Hui had also thought of this, but it wasn't quite the conventional approach.

"I think I... need a suitable tool. Could you please provide a simulation simulator?"
