Chapter 501 Interstellar Travel
Time can change many things, but it cannot completely change a person.

Just like now, Zhou Xiuwen is the only person who can sit peacefully with her in the library on a Saturday afternoon, flipping through books.

Hillman isn't the type to sit still. He's always avoided studying if he can avoid it. If it weren't for Clarence and Jiang Hui keeping him studying all these years, his grades would have plummeted. Even with such competitive classmates around him, his grades only stay in the upper-middle range of the grade, and it's always the written tests that drag him down.

According to his absurd claim, he gets a headache whenever he sees words strung together.

Clarence, on the other hand, is a very organized person. His life is filled with various schedules, the most irregular of which is probably the timing of their gatherings. They often meet up on a whim, without any set pattern.

Moreover, it was probably arranged by his family that Clarence would return to the central star sector almost every month, and every other week he would have some kind of public event or training schedule. His social circle and life were much wider than theirs, so he was usually not on campus at this time.

Huan Xian was even more elusive. He was probably the busiest of all, often nowhere to be found; it was said he hadn't been to school since the start of the academic year. The command information Jiang Hui received from him was also becoming increasingly difficult to understand.

What's amazing is that whenever the group gets together, the other person always shows up, and they often join in for group outings. It feels like they're giving up all their free time for them; it's truly touching how much they value friendship.

So only Jiang Hui and Zhou Xiuwen remained, and the two became the library's regular partners. They would come during the week, and often on weekends as well. After the library was expanded into a full-fledged library, they came again after each round of renovations. In fact, whenever new items were added, the two of them would come together like they were going to a fair.

The librarians know these two women very well; they basically just follow their faces. They sometimes remind them when the school plans to update its books, which shelves have the newest arrivals, and so on.

Although the two were reading together, they had completely different styles.

Jiang Hui swept through the pages like a whirlwind, turning them over as if it were child's play. She could devour a book in dozens of strokes, a veritable gluttony. Whether she savored the taste or not, at her speed, no book in the library could escape her "poisonous hands."

Zhou Xiuwen, on the other hand, was much more composed, displaying a very gentlemanly demeanor. He leisurely browsed through several shelves, finally managing to pull out a book he wanted to read, and then carefully examined it, savoring each word. Compared to Zhou Xiuwen, he seemed more like a book lover appreciating the beauty of books, while Jiang Hui was at best a ruthless scanner and photocopier…

Of course, regardless of the method, the two were used to the quiet atmosphere of studying together and rarely interfered with each other's thoughts. This distance of mutual understanding and trust made them both feel at ease and relaxed.

"I heard... your department is planning an interstellar trip." In the quiet midday, the boy slowly turned the page, as if remembering something, and looked up slightly at the tall, slender girl opposite him.

Jiang Hui was reading a newly acquired book of classic texts. Because it contained relatively unfamiliar content, it was difficult to digest, so even her page-turning speed had slowed down considerably. Now she no longer scrambled everything into her mind without considering the consequences and then looked at it the next day, because she found that this would only lead to a backlog of material, which would actually reduce her learning efficiency. It was much better to study it first, process it in her mind, and then memorize it; this approach was much more effective.

But her "slowness" is probably still a kind of speed that many people cannot understand.

Although she was analyzing the content in her mind, it didn't stop her from responding to Zhou Xiuwen's question: "Yes."

"I heard that the class group has already started submitting materials by the end of this month."

"That's great, you've arranged interstellar travel so quickly. We don't even know when our major will get started, maybe we won't hear anything until next semester," Zhou Xiuwen said, shaking his head with a sigh.

Next semester? They'll all be graduating next semester, so who's in the mood for travel... So-called interstellar travel, as the name suggests, is tourism. This isn't surprising. When Jiang Hui was studying on Earth, elementary, middle, high school, and university would organize trips for students, saying, "Reading ten thousand books is not as good as traveling ten thousand miles," allowing everyone to broaden their horizons and relax while studying.

It's similar in interstellar space, but here they're not limited to the same planet. They can go to other planets or even cross into other star systems, depending on the school's arrangements.

"So, have you decided where you're going?"

Jiang Hui nodded: "It seems to be Atlantis."

"Didn't you all submit the materials?" Zhou Xiuwen asked, puzzled as to why he was still saying it seemed like it.

"I don't know if I can go." Jiang Hui shook her head and smiled wryly. She did submit the documents along with everyone else, but she was the only one who hadn't submitted hers yet because she was still waiting for the approval result from a certain institution.

Zhou Xiuwen stopped what he was doing and looked into the eyes of the girl in front of him. He didn't ask any unnecessary questions like 'why,' but simply asked, "Are you troubled by something?"

"I'm going to take the mecha piloting certification exam." Jiang Hui didn't tell anyone about this; Zhou Xiuwen was the first among them to find out.

The young man was somewhat surprised, and a smile appeared on his handsome and refined face: "Congratulations."

"...I haven't even taken the exam yet, why are you already congratulating me? You have so much confidence in me?" Jiang Hui was both amused and exasperated.

"So you think you're not good enough?" Zhou Xiuwen raised an eyebrow, a gesture that revealed a sharp edge hidden deep within his usually gentle demeanor.

"I just feel... a little unprepared." Jiang Hui shook her head.

Honestly, she didn't feel incapable or nervous; she just felt it was all very sudden, as if this had just fallen on her head without her being prepared at all.

Actually, Stark had mentioned this to her a month ago. At that time, Jiang Hui didn't think much of it; she simply submitted the relevant materials as required, along with screenshots of her grades and video recordings from the past few years.

Because those who are not fully awakened need to undergo several more layers of review and special approval to obtain a driver's license, Jiang Hui did not have high hopes at first.

She hadn't expected everything to go so smoothly; she had passed the initial review very quickly. Then came the rather tedious multi-stage review process. She passed the second review with additional materials, and the third stage was a teaching investigation, which involved collecting evidence and evaluations from all the teachers who had taught her. She passed that one too.

The fourth round is the final review, which is currently under review. She submitted all sorts of complicated documents, along with previous records and some demonstration data required by the new requirements. There may still be background checks or similar information.

If she passes this round of review, she will be allowed to take the mecha piloting level exam.
