Chapter 442 Simulated Mech Training Ground

Chapter 442 Simulated Mech Training Ground (Part 2)
The simulated mecha training grounds differ from real-world training grounds. Because the core of the combat is on a simulated network, they occupy a relatively small area, and the exterior is constructed like a common, ordinary building with nothing particularly special about it, although the exterior design still has a relatively mechanical feel.

A plaque displaying the training facility's number hangs on the left side of the entrance. This is clearly the smallest type of training facility; a sign below indicates it can only accommodate four people, and also lists the dimensions of the cabin and usage instructions. Below that is a long list of records containing names and data—all historical information.

Once inside, Jiang Hui realized why there were hardly any people around.

Compared to the training sites she had visited before, this one was truly dilapidated and looked very old. But that made sense, because according to the records above the entrance, this was one of the earliest training grounds built by Beska Intermediate Academy.

Although the school sends people to conduct regular inspections every year, many things in this facility are already outdated and should have been replaced long ago. However, due to product lifecycle issues, they still have some time left in their service life, and premature disposal would be a waste of resources. Therefore, the school simply relegated them to lower-level production lines for use as training facilities.

Jiang Hui wiped the old, dusty wall of the notice board, and looked around inside. She found that all four private rooms were empty, meaning there was no one there; she had the whole place to herself.

Sigh, before there were no seats, I was thinking how great it would be if I could find some, regardless of whether it was a different show or not. But now suddenly there are seats, and so many of them... But why do I feel uneasy, always wondering if there's something wrong?

Jiang Hui checked the time; it was almost noon, and she hadn't eaten. If she continued searching, another day would pass.

And the same thing will happen when she comes back tomorrow. Since we're already here, we might as well try it out here. Even though it's just a second session, the school comes to inspect it regularly, so there shouldn't be any problems.

With that in mind, Jiang Hui simply chose a kitchen that looked fairly tidy and went inside.

"Didi—Personal authentication completed...Identity confirmed...Degree number 072698...Jiang Hui, a student from Class 2, Grade 1 of the Combat Individual Soldier Department, is now entering the RT-896-D simulator mecha training room...Uploading initial data...Connecting...Didi—In progress."

"3.92 personal points have been deducted (limited-time discount). Please select a simulation project... Beep beep—single shooting project selected... random topic selection... select access to public list... limited-time 15-star points... please prepare, three, two, one!"

Jiang Hui felt the control room in the training lab was all too familiar. Wasn't this the same system used for mecha docking? Although the sympathetic connection was slightly different and the pressure was greater, it was exactly the same sensory experience.

This cabin must have been combined with holographic technology, so the sense of reality is slightly worse, but the connection of mental energy is just as good, even more so than when she usually pilots a mecha.

No wonder the school said maintaining these simulation training labs requires a large expenditure. Isn't this essentially maintaining a fleet of simulated mechs? Although the fuselages have been replaced with training cabins, the energy consumption is still there. Whatever the mechs need to operate, they roughly require the same amount of energy, just less.

Before Jiang Hui could think much about it, the project she had chosen officially began.

Single-player shooting, as the name suggests, is shooting by a single person using a single device; no other operators from the training room will be present during the operation. In fact, Jiang Hui quite likes this type of shooting because it allows her to focus on improving her own abilities.

As for simulation battles, two-player fast-paced combat, and multi-player resistance matches, we'll wait until she gets used to them. After all, she's still struggling with how to adjust her combat style, and the above might just make her more confused.

Jiang Hui chose the random topic selection, so the shooting range was automatically assigned by the system, which she didn't really care about. The surrounding environment instantly seemed to dissolve into pieces, rapidly dissolving. She felt her entire consciousness sink into darkness, and when she opened her eyes again, she found herself in a lush green landscape, with the sound of cicadas that wouldn't be heard this season.

"This scene is really well-constructed," Jiang Hui thought to himself.

"Click!" Jiang Hui's expression changed instantly, and he immediately bowed and became alert.
--------------

Unlike Jiang's abandoned second-round trip, most people chose to have their first experience with mecha simulator training in some popular training rooms.

The spot Jiang Hui had just visited was still packed with people. More than an hour after she left, the crowd hadn't thinned out at all; in fact, it seemed to have grown even larger. Judging from their conversations, they were probably all first-year students.

This training ground is quite large, with a capacity of about fifty people. If each person has a time limit for one round, the rotation is relatively fast, and most of the people present today should be able to get in and experience one round.

However, this introduces a degree of uncertainty, and the waiting time is simply too long, making the "sunk cost" too high. Many people, like Jiang Hui, are unwilling to place their hopes on possibilities and leave to find other training opportunities.

However, probably because there were teachers on duty nearby, the first-year students were relatively well-behaved, and a temporary agreement was reached. The scene wasn't too chaotic, just a bit noisy.

They proactively cleared a queuing lane and arranged for people to take turns registering and arranging the process. The order was much better than when Jiang Hui had just arrived; at least it wasn't as chaotic.

"It's almost our turn." Xiao Li kept peering inside, his face showing a rare mix of anxiety and excitement.

This guy's mind is always filled with his idol, Holly. Teenagers are good at imitating, and he's somehow picked up Holly's aloof demeanor, making him seem overly mature. But after all, he's just a teenager; as a soldier, how could he not have dreamed of piloting a mech and "dominating the battlefield"?

Unfortunately, regular mecha practice classes were supervised by instructors, and the workload was restrictive. Plus, his classmates were all rather unskilled, so he could never really enjoy himself. Now, with the mecha simulation training ground, he could finally play without any worries. Of course, he didn't think about the issue of the simulation training ground consuming his personal points; thinking about that was a bit too far ahead.

Alec Hawley, on the other hand, remained as calm as ever, standing out in stark contrast to the excited teenagers around him, appearing exceptionally composed.

"I heard that there is a ranking system for the individual shooting event, and you can participate in the ranking by selecting to join the public list when entering."

"Is Holly aiming for the top of the leaderboard? I heard that if you make it into the top ranks, you can get extra personal points as a reward." Abu Shore had obviously done his research before coming here, and he was now recounting it with great familiarity.
