Chapter 409 Mech Illusion (Part 2)

Jiang Hui didn't know what was wrong with her. This time, she fell into a particularly deep and uncomfortable sleep. She felt both cold and hot, as if she had fallen into a deep abyss. One moment she felt as if she were in a thousand-year-old ice cave, and the next she felt as if she were in a fiery inferno. Both her body and mind were in great pain.

She wondered in a daze if this was the real realm of death. Perhaps she had actually died, and after experiencing a boundless interstellar dream, she had finally arrived at the real land of the dead.

She desperately wanted to wake up and see where she was, but the double drowsiness of her body and mind prevented her from opening her eyes, and she could only continue to sink into oblivion.

After an unknown amount of time, Jiang Hui felt as if she was getting better. The heavy, shackled feeling on her body had completely disappeared, and she felt instantly lighter. She was finally able to open her eyes.

Then she woke up again in a familiar place. Looking at the white ceiling of the bedroom, Jiang Hui remained silent for a long time before getting up from the floor.

The consciousness space seemed a little different today. Jiang Hui slowly sat up from the bed without rushing to stand up. She just looked around and vaguely sensed something different.

This sleep was truly strange and very uncomfortable, as if she had died again. Although she didn't see any terrifying images or remember the specific events, Jiang Hui still felt lingering fear when she thought about it.

Upon waking up and finding herself in her home on Earth, her first reaction was that it was all a dream, not a ghost. Then, seeing the interstellar-style woven fabric hanging above her bed, she realized that she had finally entered her consciousness space.

Getting in today was really difficult; it felt like I'd had a hundred nightmares. Thinking this, Jiang Hui stepped barefoot onto the floor and pushed open the door to the living room.

She leisurely made her way to the kitchen, intending to pour herself a glass of ice water, but a quick glance made her think it was just her imagination.

"Clang—" The glass of water slipped from her hand and made intimate contact with the ground. In the instant it shattered, the water inside, along with the shards, disappeared without a trace. The ground was as clean as if nothing had happened. Only the glass of water that Jiang Hui had been holding was gone. It had temporarily disappeared, but it would be back to normal the next time she came in.

But it was this scene that helped Jiang Hui confirm that she was currently in the consciousness space, not her real home on Blue Star. It was impossible for Blue Star to have such an illogical situation.

But it was precisely because she was confirming that... no, when did this place open?! She'd been here hundreds of times since activating this strange mental space, but Jiang Hui had never opened this door before. She'd always thought this room was her "golden finger," the domain of her consciousness. Now, the door was open—

Jiang Hui was somewhat incredulous, and it seemed like she was experiencing "fear of returning home," as she hesitated to walk even though it was only a few steps away.

Looking at the wide-open door, Jiang Hui finally mustered up her courage and walked step by step toward the door that was emitting white light.

The instant she passed through, Jiang Hui felt as if something had broken through her. Her vision went white, and when she opened her eyes again, she saw a completely different scene.

People coming and going? Skyscrapers? None of the old Blue Star from her memories. Outside was still a blank canvas, a whiter white than whitewashed walls, a true void of nothingness—no new world as she had imagined. But Jiang Hui wasn't surprised at all; in fact, this was perfectly reasonable, exactly what she had expected.

As she should have thought, if houses and other things were creations of her consciousness space, then things she was unfamiliar with and had not deliberately constructed could not appear out of thin air in her consciousness space. Just like how she always needed a long time to prepare and ponder when she wanted to create interstellar objects in her consciousness space, and even needed several days of repeated deliberation and understanding before they could finally take shape.

If the house is surrounded by scenery, a one-to-one replica of Earth's landscape, then she should be even more worried about the nature of this space. Perhaps it's not some kind of conscious space, but something else far more inexplicable—though it is indeed quite difficult to explain right now.

Although there was nothing outside, and the silence was terrifyingly empty, it was still a new module. Jiang Hui stepped out of the door and left the house she hadn't left in months.

The outside was truly empty, with no end in sight; all that could be seen was pure white, nothing at all. Yet, strangely enough, Jiang Hui wasn't afraid at all; instead, being there gave her a sense of peace.

She turned her head to look at the open door behind her. Fortunately, the door did not disappear as she stepped out, but the wide-open door and window seemed to be suspended in mid-air without support, which looked somewhat comical and eerie.

Jiang Hui finally understood why the room seemed different earlier. It turned out that the previously dark windows had become brighter due to the opening of the external space, making the room feel different.

Ah, it's still space. Jiang Hui spun around in the void a few times, looking at this blank and pale space and thinking to herself, "Is this going to make me play a real-life version of My XX here? At least other people have parts to provide, but here I can only create something out of nothing."

She glanced back at the floating gate in the distance and suddenly wanted to go back. After taking a few steps, she suddenly remembered the thing that had been bothering her.

She had been worried that releasing the mecha would cause it to break through the room, but now there was a ready-made place for it. Jiang Hui focused her gaze on the ring on her middle finger and tried to activate it again.

In fact, Jiang Hui didn't have high expectations, because apart from the initial unintentional interruption and the second failure due to being intercepted halfway, the next three or five attempts failed. The last time, the armor ring didn't even flash, making her seriously doubt that everything was just her imagination, since this was originally a space of imagination.

She thought she'd give it another try this time, and if it didn't work out, she'd figure it out later. Anyway, she had plenty of time, and for some reason, she felt particularly tired this time.

However, Jiang Hui never expected that this time—she would actually succeed!
The interface of the mecha that received Jiang Hui's consciousness signal flickered, and then the girl felt a white light in front of her. A familiar yet somewhat unfamiliar "big guy" appeared in front of her. The color was as fresh as ever, and the overall shape was smooth and light. It was the mecha she had certified not long ago - Pine and Cypress.

However, the pine and cypress trees in front of her were different from the ones she had seen before. Rather than calling them pine and cypress trees, it was more like a phantom of them. The appearance was a perfect replica, but in reality, it was so illusory that it seemed as if it could dissipate and dissolve in the wind at any moment.

What the mecha released was just a phantom image.
