The Most Powerful Brain in the Interstellar Space
Chapter 357 Senior
Chapter 357 Senior
The signal here is not good; both the sound and the picture are very weak. Jiang Hui didn't know how long this offline communication could last, or if it would be cut off soon, so the two had to get to the point and explain everything clearly.
Jiang Hui didn't dare to mention that he was almost crushed to death. He only said that they happened to be out watching the game when they encountered the chaos and got caught up in it.
Then there's the matter of Clarence being injured and currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
Stark fell silent after hearing this, then stared at Jiang Hui for a long time.
The other person's gaze was calm, and they didn't speak, but their eyes swept over the exposed joints of her hands and feet like a hawk before asking in a calm voice, "Are you not injured?"
"A superficial injury." Jiang Hui shook her head again; she didn't know how many times she had said this today.
Having survived today's series of events, she felt incredibly lucky to have escaped death. Compared to this ordeal, all her previous troubles seemed to vanish instantly, becoming insignificant.
Compared to the many poor civilians who were bombarded and died in the fire by the rebels, compared to being crushed to death by a mecha that fell from mid-air, compared to Clarence who is still unconscious due to the undeserved disaster... she only suffered a few scrapes, isn't she extremely lucky?
"Now you know how powerful I am, right?" Stark glanced at her with an ambiguous look.
Jiang Hui subconsciously shrank her neck, recalling the times she had been scolded by Stark with a stern face after being injured, and subconsciously felt that she was about to be scolded again.
To say that she is an adult at heart, with her own set of established values, is something that cannot be easily changed by anyone or anything else, even if she were to be transported to a different world.
So she has always been calm and indifferent. Having seen too many bizarre things, she no longer has a real sense of many things, and naturally, she is indifferent to extreme emotions.
But Stark is different. Apart from her original parents, whom she will never be able to meet in person, Stark is probably the closest elder to this body...
Even if she didn't feel anything special at first, over time she could tell that the other person genuinely cared about her and was concerned about her—whether it was the blood relation to this body or her being reborn through this dead body.
Even for her, who once lived on Earth, the love of her elders was a memory from a very long time ago.
Jiang Hui grew closer to and trusted the other person more and more, and unknowingly began to regard the other person as her elder.
Therefore, she still had to listen to Stark's criticisms and suggestions... especially since what he said made sense.
"What are you cowering for?! Stand up straight! Don't show such a weak expression if you haven't done anything wrong." Stark gently scolded the girl on the screen, a barely perceptible smile appearing in his eyes, perhaps even unnoticed by himself.
"Wasn't it you who looked like you were about to scold me? Turns out you weren't going to yell at me. Then why were you like this earlier...?" Jiang Hui realized. Why was she acting so guilty? She had only come out to watch a match. Who could have known that such a bizarre thing would happen?
If they had known something was going on here, they would never have chosen this time to come out. Otherwise, they would have not only been unaware of their mistake but also courted death.
"It's good that you're all alright. You guys better behave yourselves these next few days. Things aren't very stable at school either, so classes will probably be temporarily suspended for the next few days, but you still need to finish the assignments I gave you. I believe... you can all be self-disciplined while staying at home, right?" Stark glanced at the group, not caring whether they were all his students or not. Anyway, he was a teacher, and he could scold a group of students at once.
The group immediately responded obediently, like quails.
Suddenly, the person on the other end of the screen seemed to sense something and asked, "Did you guys go back by yourselves?" Jiang Hui shook her head.
"Which colleague escorted you back?" the other person muttered to himself. It was clearly a question, but for some reason Jiang Hui felt that the other person already knew that there were people here—his so-called "colleagues".
Just as Jiang Hui was about to help answer, the officer who had been sitting alone quickly walked over to them.
Perhaps to be directly in front of the center of the screen, he moved slightly closer to where Jiang Hui was sitting, then stood up just a hand's width behind her. Jiang Hui could even clearly feel the light above her dimming as he stood behind her, and a slight chill creeping over her.
"Instructor Stark." The person behind him slightly raised the brim of his hat as a sign of respect.
"Hmm? It's you." Stark's brows relaxed slightly, and a knowing look appeared on his face.
"I am Lieutenant Colonel Zong Ting. It's been a long time. How have you been lately?" The young man spoke respectfully, his tone noticeably less businesslike and more composed and elegant when talking to someone he knew.
"It has indeed been a long time. You're now a lieutenant colonel. That's good, and it's a testament to your hard work over the years. You don't need to address me like that anymore; just use my rank." Stark ignored the other man's formal inquiry about his health and then gave the young man a generous look.
"You have taught me, and I should naturally repay you with respect, regardless of my military rank," the young man said in a deep voice, seemingly disapproving.
"What? You heard my voice just now but didn't react. Don't you want to see me?" Stark asked knowingly, perhaps because the young man was behaving as seriously as he had in his youth.
Zongting: "...You didn't mention it."
As soon as Stark connected to the personal terminal, he was completely focused on Jiang Hui, and no one else could get a word in edgewise. Zong Ting realized that the person on the other end of the personal terminal was a senior he respected, but he couldn't just jump out and take over the child's communication to catch up with a senior he hadn't seen in a long time, could he?
This is incredibly reckless and shows a complete lack of respect for elders, regardless of who is involved.
He also knew that Stark's keen hearing must have caught the whisper he had unconsciously revealed earlier.
Zong Ting had spent a long period of his youth training under the other party. The other party knew him very well and couldn't possibly fail to recognize him, so he wasn't in a hurry to show himself and waited for Stark to finish the conversation and summon him.
"...Alright, enough with the nonsense. My signal looks like it's going to drop again. I'm relieved that you're escorting them. You guys go ahead and get back to work." The screen started flickering again, and Stark, getting impatient, suggested ending the call.
He glanced at Jiang Hui, who was sitting obediently in front of Zong Ting, and finally only instructed her, "Be careful on your journey."
“Yes, Uncle Tang, you too.” Jiang Hui knew that the question was directed at her, so she replied.
