The Most Powerful Brain in the Interstellar Space
Chapter 32 Farce
Chapter 32 Farce
"Good morning, Mr. Andy." Jiang Hui was also a little unsure if it was still morning, after all, she had been asleep for so long and in that strange space for so long, maybe a day or two had passed.
She stared at the empty test tube on the table. The tranquilizer inside had been completely drunk, leaving only a thin layer of liquid clinging to the tube.
The other party naturally didn't hold it against her, but responded with a somewhat flattered "Good morning, Ms. Jiang".
"Is there anything I can help you with?" After the dream she had just experienced, Jiang Hui was somewhat distracted and appeared listless, speaking rather casually.
Andy didn't think there was anything wrong with it. The other person was a patient, and an incomplete awakener under twenty. The group's behavior towards them was already aggressive and inhumane.
If the other party were powerful, they might have already taken them to the interstellar court, instead of waiting for him to come and represent them in peace talks.
It seems the other party is in a good mood and hasn't taken his anger out on him along with the Hailusi Group. Andy secretly breathed a sigh of relief, then chose a less dangerous topic: "How are you feeling today? I'm sorry, I was delayed for so long yesterday, I'm afraid it affected your rest."
Poor thing, look at that listless state. This group is clearly harming those who haven't fully awakened...
"You said that yesterday too? It's alright, I agreed to it myself. Hmm... but how many times have you called?" Jiang Hui casually scrolled through the call log and was surprised to find that the other party had called several times already, this was the third time.
"Yes, I called you earlier but you didn't answer immediately. I thought something was wrong, so I didn't call back. But after a while, you still didn't answer, and I was worried that you might be feeling unwell, so I called a third time." Andy seemed a little embarrassed, probably feeling that he had been a bit nosy.
That's probably because she fell asleep just now. Jiang Hui thought back carefully and realized that she did hear a very rhythmic sound in her dream. But because her dream was complicated, she thought it was her imagination. She didn't expect it to be the sound of Andy's personal communication device.
"Thank you for your concern. I guess I was asleep and might not have heard you." Jiang Hui's voice softened, and the sharp edges in her tone disappeared, returning to her usual calm.
She was just an ordinary person, and naturally she couldn't bring herself to be cold towards such pure kindness.
Whether he was cold or not was another matter; business still needed to be discussed. The other party calling now must have something to discuss, and Jiang Hui hadn't forgotten Mr. Andy's identity. Recalling the quantum communication sent that morning, she understood.
"So please tell me what it is about," Jiang Hui said.
Andy said somewhat embarrassedly, "I came here because of what happened yesterday, as Ms. Jiang knows. Do you remember what we agreed on yesterday?"
Jiang Hui nodded, but his expression grew increasingly indifferent. He frowned as if recalling something unpleasant and said, "Mr. Andy, you're a step too late. This morning, someone claiming to be an employee of the Hailusi Group sent me a text message via his personal terminal. He talked on and on. I was too impatient to talk to him, so I blocked him directly."
He not only talked to himself, but his attitude was also extremely arrogant. He acted superior, like a director. It's truly a case of a big company bullying its customers.
Besides, even if she were a director, it wouldn't concern Jiang Hui. It was the Hailusi Group that was actually trying to make demands of her. Although she arrived later, she still understood some aspects of interstellar law—thanks to Mr. Carlette's explanations. Therefore, her animosity towards the Hailusi Group had reached its peak.
The only reason they're still patiently negotiating is out of consideration for Andy, and because she's one of the few newcomers to this area who has had in-depth conversations with her. Otherwise, they would have already filed a lawsuit, and even the powerful and wealthy Hailusi Group would probably find it difficult to withstand such a blow.
Even Andy, who usually has a good temper, looked rather unpleasant when this was mentioned. However, his unpleasant expression wasn't directed at Jiang Hui, but rather at the Hailusi Group, where he currently works.
When asked why he had a falling out with the company yesterday, he said it was because of this matter.
They were the ones who pushed him forward initially to avoid trouble, and now they're the ones who disagree.
The group set up a special team to resolve this matter. The starting point was likely to sincerely try to gain Jiang Hui's forgiveness and defuse the group's credibility crisis.
But when Andy brought the results back, one of the directors seemed somewhat displeased. Andy guessed it was Jiang Hui's second additional condition that made him reluctant, probably feeling it damaged the conglomerate's reputation.
The other party immediately disagreed, saying he needed to renegotiate. They even tried to pressure him by reducing the compensation by half.
Andy protested the matter and wanted to try again for Jiang Hui. He didn't want to create any more trouble, and Jiang Hui was clearly not someone to be easily fooled, as he had experienced firsthand.
Moreover, bullying someone who hasn't fully awakened is already incredibly unfair. The Hailusi Group is at fault, and now they're walking a tightrope, on the verge of capsizing at any moment. To handle this properly, they'll naturally have to pay a price. But if they can resolve it well, no price is too high to bear.
Moreover, Jiang Hui's demands weren't unreasonable. Andy genuinely felt that if the Hailusi Group wanted peace and quiet, they should act decisively and cleanly. A little bit of face-saving didn't matter, especially since the inspection bureau was already watching them because of this matter.
However, that director wielded considerable influence and power within the Hailusi Group, and he resolutely refused to agree, even after several directors took turns trying to persuade him.
Andy then broke ties with the Hailusi Group, stating bluntly that he had conveyed his message and did not want to take responsibility for the consequences. He then immediately resigned. Even the Hailusi Group's attempts to persuade him to stay were futile.
He knew nothing about what happened after he got home yesterday. It wasn't until today, when he received a message from the company allowing him to resign with various promises, that Andy reconnected with Jiang Hui. So he had no idea what the Hailusi Group had actually done.
Now, he understood everything Jiang Huiyi said. He guessed that the people from the Hailusi Group had messed things up and angered him. Then, for some reason, the director changed his mind and, fearing that Jiang Huiyi would refuse to talk anymore, he came back to him as the "sucker."
That's a brilliant idea!
