Chapter 308 Someone is coming
"Huan, there are too many people here. Is there anything else that interests you?"

Huan Xian shook his head. He walked around the several floors but didn't find anything of interest, so he just wandered around the area.

Then just now, I ran into Jiang Hui on the seventh floor, where she was frantically shopping. Huan Xian didn't say anything to disturb her; he just waited there until Jiang Hui noticed him.

Jiang Hui checked the time and realized it was already afternoon. She felt like only a short time had passed, but the entire morning had gone by, and it was already past 1 PM. That meant she had spent four or five weeks here… that was truly astonishing.

She spent far too much time on this recycling, far exceeding her original expectations, and Jiang Hui's initial plan to browse the used book section was immediately abandoned.

After receiving Huan Xian's denial, Jiang Hui and his companion went downstairs and easily found the other two people engrossed in their books in the used book section. They then contacted Hillman via computer communication, but he had already left outside because he couldn't stand the crowds.

After everyone had settled their accounts and packed their things, the group gathered together. It was already around 2 PM, and most of the day had passed.

The group had no other plans, so they discussed having a simple meal nearby before heading home.

Hillman volunteered to recommend a well-known restaurant nearby, intending to have a chat with his friends. However, before they could even find a seat, the group was already full.

The first to encounter a problem was Zhou Xiuwen. A call came in directly from the other end via a personal terminal. It sounded like a butler or something... but not quite. Anyway, it was the voice of a young man who politely asked Zhou Xiuwen where he was, saying that he had some family matters to attend to and needed him to return immediately.

Jiang Hui found it hard to describe Zhou Xiuwen's expression at that moment; his previously gentle demeanor instantly turned sharp. Ignoring the stares of those around him, he immediately asked, "Is something wrong with my father?"

The person on the other end denied it, only saying that "his father had something to ask him." Zhou Xiuwen seemed relieved, but then said somewhat awkwardly that he was with a friend...

Jiang Hui and the others naturally didn't mind. The other person's father had called to say that he had something to attend to, and theirs was just a classmate reunion dinner. There was no need for Zhou Xiuwen to hesitate or make things difficult, so they advised the other person to go ahead with their business.

Since things had come to this point, Zhou Xiuwen didn't refuse and had to apologize to his friends before leaving.

I thought the one who just left was an accident, but unexpectedly, someone from Huan Xian's side also came looking for him, although the other party received a text message.

Huan Xian left after receiving the text message, leaving only Jiang Hui, Hillman, and Clarence.

Great, three people, the one who's naturally outgoing didn't leave, very stable.

So Hillman did all the talking for the rest of the meal. He chatted with Clarence and asked about the harvest from Jiang Hui Recycling Center. He actually managed to keep the meal going all by himself.

Jiang Hui wasn't bothered; she was already used to Hillman's style. He was always like this when they first met. They'd only met once, but if they bumped into each other on the street, he'd act like they were old friends, insisting on having meals together and asking her for help with her studies—it was a situation where 'you're embarrassed, but he isn't'.

Jiang Hui hadn't expected Clarence to actually be able to handle Hillman's personality. Whether Hillman was unsure how to respond or actually quite liked this kind of warm-heartedness, Hillman was very accommodating and didn't reject her advances, occasionally chiming in with a comment, though he seemed rather aloof. However, Clarence was always aloof, and his aloofness varied in degree; this was already quite friendly.

Although the conversation went well, they weren't the kind of friends who would get along exceptionally well, so the meal was really just a casual chat. Not long after finishing, everyone said their goodbyes and went home, planning to meet again at the open tournament the next day.

This time, Jiang Hui did not refuse Hillman's offer of a ride and took the other man's private airship back to the Fourth Ring Road of the city. Hillman then took Clarence back to his residence in the First Ring Road.

The whole day went by like a flowing river, seemingly without any real work done, but she had accomplished almost everything she wanted to do, and Jiang Hui was very satisfied with the result.

She touched the inner button of her coat, and thinking of the mecha materials piled up inside, she felt a strange surge of excitement and quickened her pace.

Just as Jiang Huigang passed the authentication process with the intelligent robot at the front desk, his computer suddenly received a text message from Huan Xian.

The other party simply asked if they had arrived home and told them to be careful on the road. Jiang Hui didn't think much of it and replied briefly. Then there was no further response; they must have been busy.

As for Zhou Xiuwen, he was clearly busy, so Jiang Hui didn't think of sending him a text message. She just didn't know what urgent matter had led to his hasty recall. Although the person relaying the message didn't sound urgent, the tone and context seemed inexplicably serious.

Jiang Hui paused abruptly at the entrance gate. Yes, she had been wondering… why did that person who contacted Zhou Xiuwen today feel so strangely familiar? But she was certain she didn't know him; it was the first time she'd heard that voice, yet it felt so familiar—

Just now, Jiang Hui suddenly realized that it wasn't the other person's voice that felt familiar, but rather their tone... their manner of speaking and language habits.

That person's tone, intonation, and even language habits felt very similar to Stark's, as well as Captain Zou Yi from the next class, and even to many of the officer instructors in their school's individual combat department—a typical military style. The person who contacted Zhou Xiuwen today was clearly a sergeant, and the rather serious type at that.

However, the other party's tone towards Zhou Xiuwen was relatively respectful, even courteous, and not like that of a typical elder addressing a young person.

Given his age, Zhou Xiuwen shouldn't possibly have a military rank. Furthermore, he was studying at the same Beska Intermediate Academy as them, clearly just an ordinary student. Why would a strict military officer treat him with such respect?
The man sounded like a subordinate of Zhou Xiuwen's father, and not just any ordinary subordinate. Could it be that Zhou Xiuwen's status is... quite high?
Jiang Huiman thought for a moment, realizing she had gone a bit too far ahead, and then quickly turned back to the point and continued with the household registration process.

What she's thinking is a long way off; let's focus on our own business first.

There's still a huge pile of things from Taobao waiting for her to sort and organize in her inventory. If she doesn't get them sorted out tonight... she can't just rush back to pack things up after watching the game tomorrow.

Time to get to work...
