Chapter 23 Outrageous
In the early morning, birds chirped softly outside, humming cheerful tunes. Their voices were very close and entered the dimly lit room. The person on the bed seemed to hear the noise and stirred, then pulled their wrists back under the covers.

The room returned to silence.

Suddenly, the blanket covering the bed from head to toe was ripped open from the inside, and the person inside sat up abruptly.

The "wall" in front of the bed, which was covered by the curved curtains, seemed to receive some kind of special response. It slid open from the middle to both ends, revealing the outside scenery in all directions.

It turns out that the curtains weren't covering a closed wall, but rather a large floor-to-ceiling window with a balcony outside, or rather, a deliberately designed open garden corner.

The floor-to-ceiling windows, stretching as far as the eye can see, are planted with a variety of flowers and plants, arranged in a pleasing and vibrant manner. Besides the orderly distribution of flowers and plants, the extended garden space doesn't feel cramped at all; it's practically a small garden.

A path leads to the side, and there should be a similar garden on the other side.

Without the curtains to block out the light, a flood of sunlight streamed in, instantly brightening the entire room.

This sunlight is different from that on Earth. Earth's sunlight is warm and bright, but it can also be dazzling and scorching at times, depending on the geographical environment and climate.

Here, the light on this planet is soft, everything has a slightly yellowish hue, but it's very natural and not very noticeable, and it doesn't feel warm when it falls on you.

The light filtered through the small patch of garden and finally fell on the person in bed... It was clearly going to be a very pleasant morning.

However, the person in bed was clearly not in the mood to appreciate it all; she missed the first glimpse of the beautiful scenery. She was simply too frustrated to react right now.

She knew last night was just a dream.

She knew it was a dream, but she couldn't wake up no matter what. She waited in the dream for a long, long time, and she got really annoyed. She tried everything, but it was like she was welded to that place and just couldn't wake up.

Jiang Hui began to doubt if this was a dream and if she really was coming back. When she tried to open the door, she found it still wouldn't open...

After struggling for a long time, she was too tired to continue, and then, she fell asleep in that dream.

When I woke up again, I found myself in bed number 385.

Is this what waking up is like? Jiang Hui thought, waking up from a dream is quite a hassle.

It's clear how much she longed for her home on Earth; whenever she had the chance to dream about it, her subconscious wouldn't even wake up.

But it's better to have fewer of these kinds of dreams in the future, because dreams you can't wake up from are actually quite scary.

Jiang Hui sat up, about to get up, when the window directly opposite her opened.

At the time, it was a magnificent garden scene. The lights inside shone outwards, contrasting with the planets arranged in the sky, creating a rather artistic atmosphere reminiscent of moonlit nights.

But that's not the problem. Why is it dark outside?! That day at the hospital, she discovered that the celestial phenomena on this planet were different from those on Earth.

Later, once she got her hands on the quantum computer, she thoroughly studied these rules and common sense. It was understandable that she didn't know other things, since the original owner had just arrived in this star system and planet, but it would be a bit outrageous if she didn't know common sense about time and seasons that were universal across the galaxy.

Fortunately, she later discovered that there was no need to rebuild this common sense, because it was said that the time and seasons in the capital star system were very similar to those on Earth, even close to a one-to-one ratio. Both had 365 days a year, 12 months, and 24 hours a day, etc., except that they were all prefixed with the word "star". These were said to be old methods passed down from their home planet before they immigrated, and they had been used to this day without any changes.

Of course, there are many differences between the various star systems and planets outside the capital star system, and the planets have different operating rules. Some planets even have no night and only day, or only night and no day.

Therefore, for the sake of a unified system of measurement, the time of the capital system is used throughout interstellar space. Only some planets may retain their own calendar and time if needed, and use them together with the capital system's time.

The Xuan-level planet she was currently on was a newly developed immigrant planet, established only in the last thousand years. It was unnamed and designated as number 732, and its size was considered above average among the resident star systems. Its resources were well-matched with its population, and its development and political achievements were relatively balanced.

However, the only downside to this planet is that its orbital rules do not conform to the capital's calendar, so the planet never sets and therefore there is no night.

This is clearly unsuitable for human sleep patterns. Therefore, in order to make it suitable for human habitation, the immigration bureau that settled here constructed a nighttime ecological simulation system for this place when building the city, which can simulate the nighttime environment according to the calendar of the capital star system.

In fact, instead of altering the planet's environment, an ecological projection screen can be constructed within the city system, allowing the planet to enter a simulated nighttime mode at appropriate times. This would automatically create an ecosystem suitable for human habitation.

It's still dark outside, so it's not six in the morning yet?

Jiang Hui was somewhat incredulous. She had been tossing and turning in her dream for so long, and then slept for a long time. How come it wasn't dawn yet? Could it be that she had slept for two days and two nights in a row?

She immediately activated her personal computer, looked at the time display in the lower corner, and was immediately stunned.

No way, did she get the time wrong? Not only did the date not change, but the time was also ridiculously late. She should have gone to bed around 8 or 9 pm, and she vaguely remembered falling asleep quickly.

What time is it? The computer shows... 9:45 PM, nighttime!
How could it be that only a dozen minutes have passed since she had such a long dream? That's too absurd! Jiang Hui sat up abruptly, unable to fall back asleep.

She felt it was necessary to verify the situation. Otherwise, she might also suspect that this body had suffered a head injury in the recent unexpected disaster, otherwise how could it not even know how to keep a simple count?

If that's the case, then she might need to reconsider the compensation plan she negotiated with the Hailusi Group. The previous one was far too lenient on them—

Without thinking, Jiang Hui couldn't stay in bed any longer and took out the stack of medical records and receipts she had brought back from the hospital when she was discharged from her spatial storage.

To be honest, there were too many technical terms in that document, and she couldn't understand them. However, she could understand the dates on it; she could just check the discharge date recorded there to make sure she hadn't made a mistake.

可当切切实实看到病历本上头记载的时间,她狠狠地呆住了,星历第八纪元九千九百八十三年8月2日下午5:30出的院。现在正是星历第八纪元九千九百八十三年8月2日晚上9:49。

So it's still the same day. Is it really possible she only slept for ten minutes before waking up?!
