The Most Powerful Brain in the Interstellar Space
Chapter 221 Ambush
Chapter 221 Ambush (Part 1)
The four-person group was a team that escaped from the supply point.
To say they were unlucky wouldn't be entirely accurate, as they ultimately fought their way out of the supply point with fully charged simulation bras. However, to say they were lucky wouldn't be quite right either, because aside from the usable simulation bras and themselves, they didn't manage to bring back many resources from the supply point. It was essentially a wasted trip.
After all, while the group was quite adept at scheming and their shooting skills were decent, there weren't many truly capable fighters in the team. Adding to their bad luck, they were constantly being chased and scrambled around the supply depot, let alone managing to steal resources from others. The fact that they all emerged unscathed was already a pleasant surprise.
Fortunately, they managed to avoid the flood and survive the supply depot, eventually returning to their familiar home ground outside the training field. Their confidence returned. After all, dealing with enemies outside wasn't as difficult as inside the supply depot; as long as they aimed accurately, no enemy was insurmountable.
But now there are four of them again. The temporary teammate they tricked into joining before entering the supply point had already been eliminated as a shield. The rules were different at the supply point back then, so it didn't affect them much, but things are different now.
All four were good shooters and quite capable. However, they were at a disadvantage in a makeshift team, as they couldn't afford to make a mistake. So, they wondered if they should recruit another sucker to join them.
With little time left in the competition, they genuinely wanted to find someone to join them and form a real team. After all, the four of them had been bound together for so long, sharing many hardships. Their initial idea of parting ways after getting through that period had long since vanished, and they felt that maintaining their current, albeit strained, cooperative relationship was not bad.
However, there are still some disharmonious elements within their team.
But it's alright, there's only a short time left. Anua was confident that his teammates would be able to overcome this conflict.
But no one expected that what Kent had been rambling on about since the supply depot was actually true, and they hadn't taken it seriously at all, which almost led to trouble.
Hillman, that brat, had held a grudge ever since he escaped in such a sorry state. He had been secretly following them all this way, and none of the four of them noticed him.
If the other side hadn't been caught off guard by an attack that exposed their whereabouts, they might have been tricked without even knowing what was going on.
Then the group recalled the vague bad luck that had surrounded them at the supply point and the several incredibly lucky streaks... it seemed they couldn't escape the lurking, ever-present feeling of being watched. They suddenly realized that this person had probably been hiding behind them all along, trying every possible way to cause them trouble.
They were in such a sorry state at the supply depot thanks in large part to this man.
He's truly capable of enduring hardship and dodging effectively. He's incredibly talented... Why couldn't they have thought of kicking him out of the team earlier? Wouldn't keeping someone like him as a teammate be better than just bringing in an unreliable person?
Now things are really messed up. They've completely offended this person, and the other party has indeed caused them a lot of trouble along the way. Since there's no way for either side to reconcile, the only option is to settle things once and for all.
Besides, Anua and the others couldn't tolerate such a venomous snake constantly lurking behind them and causing trouble for the team. So, no matter how much effort it took, they were determined to eliminate him. There were four of them, and even if the opponent was good at hiding, he was still just one person. There shouldn't be any problems, right?
As it turns out, there really were some problems...
"Damn it, is this guy a gopher? How can he hide so well? He disappears in the blink of an eye, and his scent is always just a tiny bit here and there, leading us around like a monkey. But how many times have we actually caught a glimpse of him? Is he playing me for a fool?!"
"No, I can't find him. His presence has vanished again. Has he completely disappeared from this area?"
"Impossible. We barely caught a glimpse of him just now. It's only been half a minute. No matter how fast he runs, he couldn't possibly get out of range in such a short time. No one could have that kind of speed."
"Stop talking nonsense and hurry up and search. Everyone, spread your mental energy out and sense it. Kent, you've sensed that guy's aura many times before. He's also your classmate. Think carefully about whether that person has any habits or flaws, or... try to sense where his aura is roughly located." Anua, as the leader that the four of them reluctantly chose, is a decisive guy.
Perhaps only someone like him could manage four loners with such distinct personalities. Although each of them harbored their own secrets, once they resolved to become true teammates, they were able to quickly work together as a united force.
So, although the group, including Anuya, had argued with Kent several times about this matter before, they hadn't actually gotten into a real fight. Therefore, when Anuya realized that what Kent said was correct, she didn't hesitate and quickly threw the question back at him.
Because this wasn't a matter of being hesitant or losing face anymore. The four of them were now a community of shared interests, and if anything went wrong, everyone's interests would be harmed. Therefore, Anua was quite certain that the other party would not refuse.
Kent was somewhat displeased, because the others had previously criticized him for being delusional and refused to believe him, but now that they realized things weren't going as planned, they quickly shifted the blame onto him.
But he didn't actually refuse. Kent knew that the group was already inseparable. Besides, Hillman was someone he had brought into the team, so Hillman probably hated him the most.
If the other party were truly seeking revenge, they would undoubtedly target him first. Therefore, how could Kent possibly tolerate their existence?
Heaven knows, when Kent realized that the aura he had been sensing following them was from El Hillman, he couldn't help but panic.
Logically speaking, with the strength of their team of four, why should they be afraid of a lone challenger? But the opponent's forbearance and perseverance truly exceeded their expectations, making them secretly alarmed.
Kent had no doubt that if Hillman were given a chance, he would definitely choose to retaliate fiercely against them, even if he had to endure until the very last moment.
