The Most Powerful Brain in the Interstellar Space
Chapter 138 Dispute
Chapter 138 Dispute
The morning session consisted of simple firearms training, but this was specialized shooting training, not a firearms research course, and theoretical training was only temporary.
After a series of cursory explanations in the morning, everyone had gained a certain understanding of this model of firearm.
After initially feeling awkward and confused, everyone quickly adapted and enthusiastically began fiddling with the incredibly realistic teaching aid. By the end of class, most students were able to operate it.
Fortunately, the instructors knew that these kids were mostly impulsive and rarely had the ability to control their curiosity and impulses. Even if they still had some rationality, their actions often outpaced their reason and thought.
So after figuring out the structure of this laser gun, at least half a dozen people "accidentally" pulled the lever, only to hear a hollow sound due to a lack of bullets.
These people naturally received special treatment from the instructors: after-school detention and running laps. After all, if this were truly a matter of carelessness and impulsiveness, and if the laser gun really had bullets, many people would probably have been hit by now. Such thoughtless and impulsive behavior certainly deserved a lesson.
Jiang Hui didn't stand out much; she was too engrossed, and time seemed to slip by in an instant. When Stark and the other man came to put away their guns one by one, she was almost caught off guard and instinctively used her other hand to protect herself.
Stark paused, and Nielch, who had just walked over, glanced over with a meaningful look in his eyes.
Then, this seemingly serious instructor raised his voice to the student who seemed a little reluctant to part with the gift, saying, "Look how anxious you are. No matter how realistic this is, it's still just a fake. How excited will you be when you finally get to meet the real thing? Alright, we have class this afternoon, and the next week will be the same. Don't rush."
Jiang Hui heard this too, and realized that her reaction might have been a bit too much. She quickly let go and handed the laser gun to Stark. The elder didn't say anything, just glanced at her and continued to collect the next item.
Jiang Hui was left standing there stunned for a moment, instinctively rubbing her fingers together, seemingly still recalling the mysterious and wonderful sensation she had just experienced.
After putting away the teaching materials, the morning's lessons were over. The two instructors announced that the afternoon's specialized shooting training would begin, and then the class would be dismissed.
Having already experienced the coolness of firearms, everyone was extremely excited upon hearing this, eager to immediately begin classes. Unfortunately, their wish was destined to remain unfulfilled, and the group was eventually ushered away from the training ground by the two instructors, heading off in twos and threes to a nearby makeshift restaurant for a meal.
Only two instructors remained in place. After everyone else had left the training ground, the two instructors tacitly remained motionless.
"Let's go too." After packing the things, sealing them as required, and storing them in his spatial storage, Nie Erqi said without turning around.
Stark knew that the other person must be talking to him, but he did not respond immediately.
The other person then let out a long, seemingly helpless sigh, turned around, and said, "Hey, old friend, it's been so long since we last met, and you're still as cold as ever. Do you think you can keep pretending not to know me and ignoring me if I don't greet you...?"
“How come I didn’t know you were my old friend?” Stark said, glancing sideways at the young man.
"I'm not arguing with you about this anymore. We've been arguing for years, fine, fine, not old friends, but old rivals, okay?" Nie Erqi strode towards Stark, stopping a step away from him. "Then let's go to the canteen for a meal together. Even if we're old rivals... we've known each other for so many years, you can't refuse to even have a meal together, can you?"
Stark neither said it was good nor bad; he simply turned and walked straight ahead, tacitly agreeing.
Knowing that the other person was unlikely to say anything conciliatory, Nie Erqi followed suit and started a conversation on his own. The whole process was exceptionally smooth, clearly a routine he had always followed.
This school is really good. He had thought that the educational resources here in the galaxy would be somewhat lacking, but everything was much better than he had imagined, even somewhat extraordinary.
He was now very curious to know what kind of academy this was. Not only had his proud old friend willingly abandoned his important duties and opportunities to come here, but the school also harbored so many powerful figures and scions of wealthy families.
Besides some familiar faces whose faces he could recognize but whose names he might not be able to recall, there were also Major Hank, Lieutenant Lando, members of the Zhou family, members of the Mei family, Manolin from the Eleventh Legion, and even members of the Lu family from the Imperial Capital Star.
This is merely a mid-level academy within the permanent star system. If one didn't know its location, comparing it to the renowned academies within the inner star systems wouldn't be an exaggeration. Could this be one of the Eighth Legion's key talent development bases? If so, deploying so many people here makes sense.
But as Nie Erqi watched the other person's increasingly brisk retreating figure, he could still restrain himself and calm down just now, thinking about what way to persuade the other person and what words to use. But when he arrived here and saw the other person's indifferent appearance, as always, unmoved by reason and unwilling to say a word, he couldn't help but feel angry.
"Hey! Stark, is this all you're going to do? Give up all your work, throw away your future, and just sit here wasting your time as a captain? Do you know how many people are eyeing your position? Do you know that if you hadn't been so reckless, you'd be a major by now? If things had gone well, you could have been a lieutenant colonel in a few years... Have you really thought this through?"
The person in front must have heard it, but he didn't stop walking.
Nie Erqi became even angrier upon seeing this, and strode forward to block the man's path: "Are you planning to remain silent like this, or do you feel there's no need to tell me? Fine, if you don't want to tell me, then you should at least explain to Major General Su. He values you so much, wants to cultivate you, and has given you resources that no one else can match, and this is how you repay him?!"
Stark, who was about to pass him by, suddenly stopped in his tracks, as if he finally had the desire to talk to him: "I don't think so."
Before Nie Erqi could say anything more, he heard the other person say leisurely, "You came here by yourself, didn't you?"
The other party was momentarily stunned, unsure how they had been exposed.
Stark didn't even need to see the other party's reaction to know that the other party must have come on their own, because if the Major General had sent them... the Major General wouldn't have sent anyone. He had already informed that person beforehand when he made his choice, and the other party was angry but ultimately relented and set a deadline. Therefore, the only possibility was that Nerch had come on his own.
