The Most Powerful Brain in the Interstellar Space
Chapter 106 Survival
Chapter 106 Survival
“At least eight,” Hillman suddenly said.
Jiang Hui was a little confused.
“I said these remains belonged to at least eight Star Beasts.”
"...Classmate, I think you might have a real talent for medicine." Otherwise, how could you discern such specific information from such a decomposed limb, and in such detail?
Hillman didn't quite understand, so he just took it as Jiang Hui praising him: "Thank you."
Very good, he's an honest man, assessment complete.
“Then… shall we continue?” Hillman tentatively used a stick to clear away the pieces of limbs in front of him, then looked at Jiang Hui with a pure gaze, gesturing for her to continue forward.
"Okay."
The two walked for a long time, and along the way, they encountered more and more remains of star beasts, which littered the ground. The air was filled with a sour and fishy stench, as well as a strange sticky feeling, which made them feel very uncomfortable.
Even Hillman, who is usually quite thick-skinned, found this hard to bear, let alone Jiang Hui.
The two of them gritted their teeth and kept walking until they finally reached an area with a relatively wide view.
"There!" Hillman shouted, and without looking at anything else, he rushed in one direction.
Jiang Hui also spotted the large creature that had stopped in the middle of the forest at a glance. It had a smooth, silvery-white body and dozens of tendrils neatly arranged on the ground.
Although the spider-like shape was incredibly lifelike, Jiang Hui didn't find it scary at all. Instead, he sensed the pinnacle of human technology emanating from it.
However, this seemingly majestic and reliable creation is now somewhat dilapidated.
Jiang Hui pulled himself out of his thoughts and checked the surrounding environment again. Only after confirming that there were no star beasts hiding in the shadows did he follow and approach the mecha that looked very powerful.
Under the mechs, there were even more fragments of the Star Beasts, piled up like mountains. The entire ground was covered with dense brown fragments, and stepping on them gave you all sorts of sensations, which was quite eerie.
The two of them have gone from being afraid and resistant to being somewhat used to it.
They successfully found the instructor's mech and the burial ground of countless star beasts, but they still couldn't find the instructor himself.
“Should we call out? Maybe he’s sleeping inside…” Hillman’s voice trailed off.
Jiang Hui glanced at the other person with an expression that said, "Do you think it's possible you'll sleep with him?" and then said, "By the way, do you know what this instructor's name is?"
Then the two of them almost simultaneously shook their heads, neither of them knowing.
The two then put aside their various unreliable ideas and began searching for the mech's control cockpit.
The more they examined the machine, the more certain they became that the instructor was inside. For one reason only, any trained soldier wouldn't carelessly abandon their mech. It's highly unlikely the instructor would have run away alone after leaving such a large mech here; he's more likely injured or unconscious in the cockpit.
But first they need to find the mech's control cockpit.
To be honest, because this thing was so tall, it was difficult to see the whole picture. Jiang Hui and the other person spent a long time just looking for the head and tail.
After finally finding it with great difficulty, they realized they didn't know where to start. In the end, they had no choice but to climb up some of the landing sites and risk going around to the front. Standing on the seesaw, which was more than ten meters high, Jiang Hui looked down from above. Surprisingly, he wasn't scared at all, even without any safety equipment. He was really something.
The two carefully moved to the area that resembled the control room, then stared at each other in disbelief.
Is this something they can dismantle? Perhaps they were being overly idealistic from the start?
So they tried calling out from nearby places, but no one responded. The place was like an empty warehouse, without a trace of life.
So there's no one there?
No, although the fluctuations were very weak, Jiang Hui could still sense them. However, there was still no reaction from within, which made Jiang Hui and the other person very uneasy. They decided to find a way to pry it open and take a look.
As for who should take action, it would naturally be Jiang Hui, who is only half-baked. She has at least read the basics of mecha... well, at the very least, she has pretended to be an "expert" on many similar models. Anyway, she is slightly more reliable than Hillman, who is only half-knowledgeable.
Fortunately, the area in front of the spider that resembled an upright eye suffered multiple damages, and the entire cover and duplex structure were destroyed.
With a little more skill and technique, it can be opened smoothly.
The idea was good, but she overlooked the difficulty of implementation.
The structure of a real mecha is much more complex than that of a model, and the feeling it gives when magnified hundreds or thousands of times is completely different, whether in terms of quality, thickness or feel.
Jiang Hui realized how incredibly foolish she had been to think just fifteen minutes ago that it was "maybe" possible. No, she couldn't.
But what could she do? With the die cast, she had no choice but to act. She forced herself to translate the scattered mecha knowledge explained on the blueprints into reality, attempting to break through this obstacle.
She tried on the other side but failed. It felt like the giant fang had gotten stuck somewhere, so that side was almost completely immobile.
So she started from the side, and luckily, this time she succeeded in no time. The panel split in two and fell off in large pieces, revealing a corner of the internal control cabin.
But even from this one corner, they could see the situation inside the control room.
The instructor they had been searching for was indeed here, always there, in the mech's cockpit. But he was indeed unable to respond to them; Jiang Hui couldn't even be sure if he was dead or alive.
Seeing the person pierced by a giant fang as tall as a person, Jiang Hui thought she would be the first to break down, but unexpectedly, it was Hillman, who had always been calm, who collapsed first.
Jiang Hui could even feel him trembling, his throat hissing, as if he were losing control.
She felt cold in her feet, and her entire senses, from her brain to her eyes, nose, and mouth, were numb.
She felt herself approaching the cabin cautiously, almost out of control, her gaze deliberately avoiding the pool of bright red blood, and she raised her fingertip to touch the other person's neck.
I already had a premonition. There was no pulse, and it wasn't even at body temperature; it was ice-cold. These were signs of a dead person, leaving no room for error.
Jiang Hui's heart turned completely cold; it was too late.
Before she could withdraw her hand, the eyelashes of the person whose eyes were tightly closed as if dead suddenly twitched, but quickly stopped. However, she was certain that the person could still be saved, so she immediately turned around and said, "Wait, he doesn't seem to be dead yet, he's still breathing."
Hillman suddenly stopped all his emotions. Jiang Hui heard the sound of his rapid footsteps, and then the pedal under her feet seemed to sink down as well.
