Chapter 57: Turning against guests
Lao Yang panicked, "Don't you believe me? I... I'm telling the truth, really, I'm not lying to you. I've always considered you my... best brother..."

Zhang Wuxun casually remarked, "Yeah, that's true, the easiest brother to fool."

Lao Yang glared at Zhang Wuxun, his eyes blazing with anger. "Don't make sarcastic remarks like that!"

“Isn’t what I said the truth?” Zhang Wuxun retorted. “Why did you have to pick on Xiao Tianzhen? It’s because he’s inexperienced, doesn’t know how to judge people, and is easy to fool, and because of your old, shabby friendship. You tricked him into coming to this remote mountain forest to achieve some ulterior motive.”

Seeing Lao Yang's face turn red as he was about to retort, Zhang Wuxun snorted coldly, "Don't rush to deny it. You know best what you're thinking. Also, back in the stagnant water in the mine, you actually really hoped that I would perish together with that taimen, right? It's a pity that it didn't work out for you. You must be very disappointed."

Zhang Wuxun's appearance is undoubtedly a major variable for Lao Yang's plan. Under such uncertain circumstances, silencing him is the most obvious and effective measure.

Moreover, the fewer people who know Lao Yang's secrets, the better. As for Wu Xiaoxie, the two have known each other for twenty years, so he can be considered one of his own and trustworthy.

But Zhang Wuxun was different. This guy was like a Cheng Yaojin who suddenly appeared out of nowhere, and Wu Xiaoxie trusted him a lot. Lao Yang couldn't find a suitable opportunity to make a move.

He had to carry Wu Xiaoxie on his back while also preventing himself and Wu Xiaoxie from getting hurt. He finally got a chance, but Zhang Wuxun's martial arts skills were too high, and he solved the problem in no time.

Lao Yang felt like he'd been ripped off. Looking at Zhang Wuxun's smug face, he really wanted to punch him and then shoot him in the chest.

Zhang Wuxun and Wu Xiaoxie watched as the old schemer's expression constantly shifted and flickered, seemingly lost in his own imagination.

Wu Xiaoxie frowned and said, "If you keep hiding it, Muyu and I will turn around and leave."

"No!" Lao Yang quickly stopped him, gritting his teeth, "I can't tell you now. Only after we've actually entered the ancient tomb will I tell you everything you want to know, without missing a single word."

Believe it or not.

Zhang Wuxun rolled his eyes. "Who knows what dangers await beneath this hidden door? Using your good brother as a stepping stone is such a despicable thing to do."

Lao Yang absolutely hated Zhang Wuxun's foul mouth; all that babbling and showing off how good you are, huh?

The worst part is that I can't even argue with them.

Old Yang was so frustrated that he could only pick the easy way out, "Anyway, we're definitely going to go through this secret door. There are huge, huge opportunities inside. You definitely won't regret it."

Wu Xiaoxie heard him say "very" three times in a row. Regardless of how much exaggeration there was in his words, at the very least, there must be something good down there.

As for whether he regretted it, Wu Xiaoxie remained noncommittal.

The atmosphere was too somber.

Lao Yang pulled a small oilcloth bag from the inside pocket of his clothes. Inside were three crumpled cigarettes and a small box of matches.

He put a cigarette in his mouth, took out a match, and struck it hard on the side of the small box. With a "whoosh," a brilliant spark ignited.

Lao Yang took a deep breath, exhaled a thick cloud of smoke from his nostrils, and sighed, "Give me a definite answer as to whether it will come down or not."

A hoarse voice suddenly came from behind, "No need to think about it anymore, I've already made the decision for you."

As soon as the words were spoken, a cold object pressed against the back of Lao Yang's head.

Several men emerged from the shadows where the light couldn't reach them. They looked fierce and menacing. Wu Xiaoxie took a closer look and realized that they were Tai Shu's group, who had set off before them.

Before he could react, a gust of wind suddenly blew past him.

The next instant, the two burly men who were pointing guns at Wu Xiaoxie were sent flying three meters away, crashing heavily to the ground and passing out on the spot.

Zhang Wuxun's actions were swift and decisive; those few old bastards were no match for him. Within seconds, Uncle Tai and his group were either lying down or kneeling, all incapacitated.

The man inside, who looked like the boss and was surnamed Wang, struggled to fight back a couple of times, but that didn't stop Zhang Wuxun from taking him down in two moves.

From being kidnapped to taking control, the entire process took less than a minute.

Zhang Wuxun patted his hands with regret, even though there was no dust on them. This thing was too fragile.

"Go, tie them up."

Zhang Wuxun took it for granted and issued orders.

The executor was Lao Yang.

Zhang Wuxun's series of outrageous actions once again blinded him; he had no choice but to obey.

Lao Yang pulled out the belts from those people and tied their hands behind their backs, making the most of them.

Wu Xiaoxie ran over and collected all their guns, piling them up together.

The leader, Uncle Tai, didn't faint, but he would rather have fainted himself.

Uncle Tai stared at Zhang Wuxun in horror, his inner voice screaming, "This is impossible, absolutely impossible!"

However, reality dealt him a harsh blow, and incidentally gifted him a free whirlwind triple kick.

Uncle Tai swallowed hard. Seeing Zhang Wuxun squatting down in front of him with a smile like a smiling tiger, his heart pounded. "This... this esteemed person, we were blind to your greatness. We hope you can be lenient and spare our lives."

Seeing that Zhang Wuxun's smile had vanished, he hurriedly added, "I'll make it up to you. I have plenty of money. I won't take a single penny of the good stuff we found in the tomb this time; I'll give it all to you as a token of my respect..."

Uncle Tai used to be such a swaggering guy at the food stalls. He was a big shot in Hong Kong. Now he's kneeling on the ground begging for mercy, snot and tears streaming down his old face. He looks so pitiful.

Zhang Wuxun felt a little reluctant to do it—but that's just wishful thinking!

These guys are all desperate criminals, each with two or three lives on their hands. They are experts in double-crossing, as well as shameless skills like discarding someone after they've served their purpose and kicking them while they're down.

Would Zhang Wuxun let them off the hook just because of their shoddy and cringe-worthy acting? Absolutely not.

If it weren't for him, these desperate criminals would definitely have made Wu Xiaoxie scout ahead or used him as bait after capturing him.

"Hiss..." Zhang Wuxun narrowed his eyes, thinking to himself, "Maybe I should just kill him, as if I'm doing justice for Heaven."

Seeing the murderous intent in Zhang Wuxun's eyes intensify, Uncle Tai was about to cry. What kind of mess was this?

Suddenly, a brilliant idea struck him, and he said in a moment of inspiration, "I know some things about the ancient tomb. If this young master will show mercy, I can scout ahead for you."

Survival is the priority. As for the others lying down, they themselves are in grave danger right now, so they can only pray for their own good fortune.

It's not worth angering this monster for the sake of a few temporary teammates.
