Chapter 53 Giant Hand Statue
As Zhang Wuxun headed towards Wu Xiaoxie, he also took care of two more monkeys. Upon seeing this, the remaining monkeys scattered like birds and beasts, dropping their backpacks and disappearing into the woods in a flash.

Ignoring his injuries, Wu Xiaoxie quickly ran over and picked up the scattered items on the ground.

While picking up the food, he muttered curses under his breath, "These damned monkeys! It's one thing for them to steal our food, but they even dared to attack us! If they hadn't run away so fast, I would have chased them down and wiped out their lair sooner or later."

Zhang Wuxun walked to the base of the tree, pulled out the knife stuck in the Monkey King's chest, wiped it clean, and put it back into his spatial storage.

Then, together with Wu Xiaoxie, they packed their backpacks and organized the messy supplies.

Wu Xiaoxie checked a bag of dried vegetables for damage and wondered, "Golden monkeys are supposed to be docile and not attack people, but these monkeys in the Qinling Mountains are different. Not only are they big, but they are also ridiculously fierce. Judging from their stealing and robbing behavior, they have obviously done it many times before."

"I guess the feng shui of this place is inauspicious, which indirectly affects the animals," Zhang Wuxun guessed wildly. "I suspect the eye that was peeping in the shack last night belonged to one of these monkeys."

Wu Xiaoxie zipped up his backpack and nodded, "I think so too."

The two dragged the dead monkey's carcass together, and fearing that the smell of blood would attract wild animals, they dug a deep pit and buried it.

After cleaning up the scene, Lao Yang, who had chased after the monkey, finally arrived late.

Old Yang was carrying the last small bag of self-heating meals. He was panting heavily, covered in dust and dirt, looking like a refugee fleeing a disaster. His coat was almost torn to shreds. He kept yelling, "Damn it, I'll catch them sooner or later... and skin them alive!"

"Alright." Wu Xiaoxie called out to him, tossing him a bottle of hemostatic powder and a roll of gauze. "Hurry up and treat your wound. It's getting late, and those wild monkeys might come back at any time. We've already wasted a lot of time, and we still have to keep going."

Lao Yang took the medicine, tore open his coat, and applied it to himself despite the pain.

Meanwhile, Zhang Wuxun quickly treated Wu Xiaoxie's wounds.

The three of them quickly set off.

Once we were fully inside Jiazigou, after walking for about half an incense stick's time, the distance between the two cliffs became even narrower and they tilted noticeably, as if they might collapse and crush us at any moment, sending chills down our spines.

Wu Xiaoxie had a creepy feeling about this place, and every few steps he would turn back to check if Zhang Wuxun, who was at the back, was still there.

"What's wrong?" Zhang Wu asked.

Wu Xiaoxie shook his head. "I just suddenly remembered what Old Liu said about the ghost soldiers crossing the inn. Oh right, Lao Yang, did Old Liu explain the ghost soldiers to you in detail last time? What exactly are these ghost soldiers?"

Lao Yang seemed unwilling to elaborate, and replied evasively, "Ghost soldiers... well, they're just ghost soldiers. I've never seen them with my own eyes, how would I... know what they are..."

Lao Yang suddenly fell silent, turned around, his face pale, and after several seconds of silence, he finally spoke in a trembling voice, "Wait...wait a minute, ahead, it looks like there's a hand!"

"What? What?" Wu Xiaoxie tensed up and quickly took two steps to stand behind Lao Yang, only then did he see clearly the "hand" that Lao Yang was talking about.

With a sudden "buzz," Wu Xiaoxie's mind went blank, his scalp tingled, and he was so shocked he could barely speak. "Wooden...wooden fish, come quick..."

Zhang Wuxun quickly stepped forward and took a closer look. He realized that the road ahead was completely blocked by a large object, and people could only climb over it.

What blocked their way was a giant human hand!

The giant hand was grayish-white all over and was buried under a pile of large rocks, with only the front half of the palm showing. The fingers were bent as if trying to grab something, which was truly terrifying.

Zhang Wuxun gestured with his hand; even his little finger was thicker than his thigh. "It's alright," Zhang Wuxun patted Wu Xiaoxie's shoulder reassuringly. "It's fake, just a broken statue."

Wu Xiaoxie exclaimed "Ah!" and came back to his senses. He ran over and took a closer look, even holding out his hand to compare the size, and exclaimed, "Goodness, this is so realistic! At first glance, I really thought it was the hand of a giant."

Even the most skilled craftsmen wouldn't dare claim to be better than this.

Lao Yang also came over to look at it from all angles, exclaiming in amazement, "This...this...this is so damn realistic! It looks just like a real person, and it's so damn creepy!"

Even though I knew it was fake, I still couldn't help feeling uneasy.

Lao Yang had already hurriedly climbed up the pile of rocks and headed to the other side. Wu Xiaoxie and Zhang Wuxun quickly followed, lying on the cliff and slowly moving along the slope little by little.

I originally thought there would be a statue of a god or something, but when I got closer I found out that it was actually a half-body human figure carved into the mountainside. The chest and above, including the head, had been blown off by something, leaving only one hand and half a shoulder standing.

Below, a dark, collapsed hole appeared, about half the size of a manhole cover.

Wu Xiaoxie shone his flashlight inside and found that the space was enormous. He then speculated, "The mountain behind is hollow. I think there's probably an ancient tomb behind this statue."

The person who managed to rob the ancient tombs here must be a master among masters.

Zhang Wuxun said, "Should we go in and take a look? Maybe we can find something we like."

The three of them discussed it and decided to go in. Even if there was no benefit to be gained, it would be good to learn from the superb skills and techniques of their predecessors.

Lao Yang was the first to crawl in, and half a minute later he poked his head out and cursed, "Damn it... damn it, it's full of green, stinky... stinky water, it's even gotten into my shoes."

Wu Xiaoxie was conflicted. He knew that Zhang Wuxun was a bit of a germaphobe, and if he really stepped in stinky water without having any spare clothes, he would definitely feel disgusted.

Zhang Wuxun saw what he was thinking, peeked inside, and Lao Yang was right, the stagnant water really stank, you could feel the stench even from a distance.

However, having read the original story, he knew that his destination was inside the cave, so he had no choice but to accept it.

"It's okay, anyway, my clothes were already covered in dirt when I fell into the pit, so it's fine if they get dirty." Zhang Wuxun forced a smile and said this against his will.

Wu Xiaoxie laughed unkindly, "You said it yourself."

Zhang Wuxun glared at him and made a move to kick him, "Laugh again, and I'll kick you down."

Wu Xiaoxie grinned and dodged aside, disappearing into the hole.

Zhang Wuxun took a deep breath, held it, and followed them downstairs with a flashlight.

Inside is a carved-out vaulted stone chamber, with stagnant water on one side and steps on the other.
