Tomb Raiding: My Family's Last Clan Chief is Little Brother
Chapter 434 The Woof Exploded
Chapter 434 The Woof Exploded
In the blink of an eye, the monster zongzi in the coffin stood up, grabbed the guy who was standing closest to it and was still in a daze, and its huge, iron-bowl-like mouth came out from under his neck and bit off the guy's head.
Blood and brain matter splattered everywhere. In the fat man's words, the monster chewed the head as crisply as if it were gnawing on a pear, making a loud crunching sound that sent chills down one's spine.
The crowd was terrified and screamed as they tried to run out of the tomb.
However, upon turning around, they discovered that the road ahead was teeming with crawling monsters that looked like skinned crocodiles. They had all crawled out of the bellies of the dead fish floating in the water and swarmed around them, completely blocking the way out.
With pursuers behind them and ambushes ahead, they had no choice but to throw out detonators to blast a way out. At the same time, the stone bridge under their feet was also in danger of collapsing after a few blasts.
The group was in complete chaos. Fatty only knew that Wu Xie had run out of the main tomb chamber, but then they got separated while being chased by monsters.
After listening, Chen Jinshui winked and gestured for Mediterranean to ask him, "How many of you escaped in total?"
"I don't know. It was so chaotic at the time. I was dizzy and running around aimlessly. I don't know how I ended up running out through a crevice in the mountain. When I came to my senses, I realized that Tianzhen wasn't beside me." The fat man coughed a few times and wiped the blood from his mouth.
"The poison gas in that coffin was extremely potent; ordinary gas masks wouldn't last long."
Upon hearing that Wu Xie was likely already dead inside, Chen Jinshui's face twisted into a gleeful and excited smile. He then waved his hand and said, "Take stock of the equipment and see how much we have left. Let's get ready to set off."
The fat man knew perfectly well that this guy wasn't really there to save people. He was just making up a story, half true and half false. Once Chen Jinshui's attention was diverted from him, he turned his gaze to the black bear and winked at him.
The two exchanged glances, and the Mediterranean man who came over from the side also gave them a subtle gesture with his hands behind his back. The three of them understood each other without saying a word.
After arranging his subordinates, Chen Jinshui turned to the fat man and said directly, "I know you have a shortcut to enter the tomb. Hurry up and take us there. If we're too late, Wu Xie might not even be able to leave behind his corpse."
The fat man spat in annoyance, "You worthless bastard, who the hell are you cursing? Even if you die, we innocent ones won't die."
Chen Jinshui gave a sinister smile, pointing the gun at the fat man's head, and threatened, "I'm not going to waste my breath on you. Get up and lead the way, or you might cause some trouble later."
The fat man felt that the time was right, so he shut up and cursed Chen Jinshui's ancestors for thirty-eight generations in his heart.
After the team regrouped, they set off, with Fatty leading Chen Jinshui and the others through the winding jungle.
Following the scattered traces of blood still remaining on the grass, after walking for nearly two hours, a stone mound more than two meters high, resembling a beacon tower, appeared ahead. There was a deep pit on top, filled with water.
Upon closer inspection, they discovered a freshly dug hole in the dense grass on the back of the grave mound. The soil around it was stained with a slightly reddish slime that had oxidized and dried, resembling the traces left by some soft-bodied creature.
The fat man stopped in front of them, pointed his chin toward the cave entrance, and gestured for Chen Jinshui's men to shine their lights and look inside.
Chen Jinshui's subordinate, Da Biao, tied a small sparrow caught in a trap with a rope and slowly released it into the trap.
After a while, he pulled the rope out again. The sparrow's eyes were tightly closed, and it was already dead. Upon careful inspection, he found that the skin under its feathers had turned black, indicating that it had been poisoned.
Chen Jinshui stared coldly at the fat man, "This is the entrance you were talking about?"
The fat man sat down on the ground and said nonchalantly, "Believe it or not, I'm the one who dug this tunnel out. Originally, we went into an old temple, but it's impossible for me to find it now. This forest is so big that you can't tell which way is east, west, south, or north. Even if I walked around in it ten times, I still wouldn't know its exact location."
Hei Xiazi pushed up his sunglasses. "It's probably because the poisonous gas from the coffin has spread here. Let's wait for the air to dissipate before going in."
"I hope you're telling the truth." Chen Jinshui's face twitched as he directed his men to prepare for entering the cave.
They hadn't encountered Chen Yaxiang along the way, which made Chen Jinshui uneasy. He suspected that Chen Yaxiang had been paid by another group to scout the way, and he became increasingly anxious.
This was the biggest deal he'd ever made since he took over Chen Pi Asi's old gang. The contents were probably enough for him to live comfortably for ten or twenty years. He thought to himself, "I absolutely can't let anyone else get there first."
When the second sparrow was still flapping its wings a few minutes after it was hung inside, Chen Jinshui immediately ordered everyone to put on gas masks and go into the cave. The last group of men to come down covered the cave entrance with weeds.
The section of road ahead was dug out by the fat man with an entrenching tool, and we had to crawl through it.
Chen Jinshui still valued his life, and with a forced smile, he gestured for Hei Xiazi to lead the way, with two other men in between, and then Fatty.
Black Bear had no objections and crawled in first. He climbed quickly and jumped into a puddle two minutes later. In front of him was the mountain crevice that Fatty had mentioned.
The fat man rubbed his aching back and took a deep breath, saying, "This is a shortcut. This crevice leads directly to the main tomb chamber with the giant zombie. Are you sure you really want to go in?"
"Enough with the nonsense, you go first." Chen Jinshui sneered, waving his hand lightly, ignoring the fat man's angry glare.
Da Biao and Wu De dutifully pushed the fat man into the crevice in the mountain. It wasn't too narrow inside, but the fat man deliberately dawdled, stepping forward with his left foot on top of his right, since it was dark and no one could see him from behind.
The half-hour journey that was originally planned turned into twice as long for the fat man, and he finally arrived at a spacious cave.
Water was flowing gently around them, and the air was filled with the pungent smell of detonators exploding. There were several pools of reddish, sticky liquid on the ground, as if it had dissolved, and some broken bones were mixed in with it.
Before us lay a slightly murky underground lake, with many floating algae, which must have been washed in from outside the mountains by the water flow.
Not seeing any of those dead bodies floating in the water, Chen Jinshui immediately ordered everyone to go into the water.
The fat man continued to lead the way. To prevent him from escaping, Chen Jinshui searched his body and took all the sharp weapons. He tied a rope with a knot around his waist and had Da Biao keep a close eye on him.
The fat man scoffed at this and dismissed it with disdain.
After swimming through a narrow and dark waterway, Chen Jinshui and the others couldn't hold their breath any longer and surfaced. Looking around, they discovered that they were in a stone chamber with murals on the walls, but Chen Jinshui couldn't understand them. Chen Yaxiang, the only one who knew anything about the Changsheng Kingdom, was not with them.
The bronze coffin was in the very center of the stone chamber, its lid tilted to one side, and the liquid inside resembled blood, foul and strange.
Chen Jinshui climbed ashore, wringing the water from his clothes as he tried to ask Fatty about the meaning of the murals. He knew that if Wu Xie had been here before, he would definitely have studied them. But after turning his head 180 degrees and his body 360 degrees, he still couldn't find Fatty. He was completely bewildered. Wasn't that fat guy right in front of him? Where did he go?!
He immediately grabbed Da Biao, the guard next to him, and shouted angrily, "Damn it, didn't I tell you to watch over the man? Where is he? Where the hell did he go?"
Da Biao was so dizzy from being shaken that he felt extremely weak all over. As soon as Chen Jinshui let go, Da Biao collapsed to the ground, his skin limp and sprawled out like a deflated balloon, making a sizzling sound as if sulfuric acid was corroding.
Before everyone could react, another worker collapsed to the ground with a thud.
One after another, people around him collapsed. The Mediterranean Madman and the others were all lying on the ground, panting heavily, looking like they were about to die on the spot. Even Black Bear fell to the ground and began to convulse, spitting blood.
Before long, only Chen Jinshui remained unharmed at the scene.
Chen Jinshui was almost scared out of his wits. He had no idea what was happening. He was so terrified that he was practically deformed, and he started firing his gun wildly into the air.
They both came out of the water at the same time, so why didn't he get into trouble?
A string of bubbles churned and rose from the dark lake. Chen Jinshui retreated warily, replaced his full case, and peered into the water.
The water churned, and soon a body, lying face down, floated to the surface, dressed in the clothes of Chen Jinshui's men.
After waiting for a while and seeing no further movement, Chen Jinshui gritted his teeth, mustered his courage, and approached, attempting to carefully turn the body over with an entrenching tool.
After much effort, they turned the body over, but before they could get a good look at the face, a huge splash of water suddenly erupted from beneath the body, and a dark figure burst out of the water, holding a knife and stabbing it straight at Chen Jinshui's heart.
Although Chen Jinshui was stubborn and opinionated, his fighting skills were among the best of the group of younger generation that Chen Pi Asi had personally trained.
Seeing this, he immediately raised his hand to use his entrenching tool to block the oncoming blade, and kicked the man in black, whose body was still half submerged, back into the water. Then he retreated rapidly, firing as he went.
After several shots were fired, the ripples on the water were still trembling, but there was no sign of the man in black. Only his half-shattered corpse remained, floating alone in the water.
With the corpse interfering, Chen Jinshui couldn't tell whether he had hit the person who ambushed him.
He knew perfectly well that there was a traitor among his men. He didn't know which of the Chen family's other businesses had sent the man, since the position he held had been coveted for a long time.
Chen Jinshui felt a strong sense of familiarity with the figure of the person who had tried to kill him, but he couldn't quite place it for the moment.
But he knew he couldn't stay there any longer. Looking at the corpses all over the ground, he knew this might be a trap set specifically for him. If the man in black wasn't dead, he would never give up this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. After confirming that Da Biao and Wu De were dead, he immediately chose to escape with his equipment.
Just as Chen Jinshui's figure slipped out through the half-open stone door on the other side of the stone chamber, the water surface stirred again.
A slender woman pushed aside the corpse and emerged from the water; it was none other than Chen Yaxiang, who had previously separated from the group.
After climbing to the shore, she immediately searched for the backpack left by Chen Jinshui. There was a horrifying hole in her left arm. She had dodged most of the shots Chen Jinshui had fired haphazardly, but the price was that a bullet at close range had broken the bone in her arm.
The dizziness from blood loss dulled her senses, and by the time she realized something was wrong, someone was already quietly standing behind her.
The man habitually adjusted his sunglasses and then greeted her warmly, "Hello, beautiful, are you looking for this?"
As he spoke, Hei Xiazi raised the medical kit in his hand.
Chen Yaxiang paused, then sprang up from the ground, throwing several hidden weapons straight at Hei Xiazi's face, her killing intent palpable.
Black Bear easily dodged and lunged forward to attack.
The two fought back and forth, their swords flashing and clanging. Several of the "corpses" on the ground quietly opened their eyes, then rolled and crawled away from the battle like caterpillars, retreating to the edge of the stone chamber.
"Young Master, who do you think is more powerful, Blackie or this woman?" Tie Tuo's voice sounded softly. Feeling as if his face was covered in paste, he raised his hand and tore off the mask that had been soaked in water.
The man with Wu De's face spoke up in dissatisfaction, but his voice was very familiar, "That must be Hei Xiazi. He didn't even use his full strength. He just made a show of it and tried to rip me off."
Just as Wu Xie said, Hei Xiazi did not use his full strength at the beginning; he wanted to test Chen Yaxiang's abilities.
After several rounds, Chen Yaxiang was clearly exhausted and was kicked away by Hei Xiazi, crashing into the wall. She spat out several mouthfuls of blood and was barely breathing.
Hei Xiazi chuckled silently, and was just about to walk over and tie her up when his expression suddenly changed. He yelled at Wu Xie and the others who were watching the show, "Get down!"
Wu Xie and the others instinctively lay down, and then with a loud bang, half of the stone chamber wall was blown open, and Chen Yaxiang, who was standing at the bottom of the wall, was instantly turned into scattered pieces of his body.
Hei Xiazi was too close and was thrown into the water by the blast wave. He coughed as he got up, clutching his chest, and muttered, "That's ruthless. He didn't even leave me a way out."
Wu Xie hadn't expected that this woman would commit suicide so decisively, leaving him no chance to interrogate her.
It seems their previous speculation was correct; the people behind the Chen family are the same group of people who were behind them back then.
Knowing that she was destined to fall into Wu Xie's hands, Chen Yaxiang simply ended her own life, almost taking a group of people with her.
"The bomb was probably strapped directly to her body."
Black Bear took a sip of water, suppressing the metallic taste in his throat, and commented, "Even more decisive than the Vietnamese Deadpool I encountered years ago."
Goodnight Makka Pakka, next octopus is coming!
