Tomb Raiding: My Family's Last Clan Chief is Little Brother

Chapter 242 Encountering a Snake in the Well

Chapter 242 Encountering a Snake in the Well
Everyone was completely bewildered as they watched the moth fly away.

They quickly realized what was happening and breathed a sigh of relief.

“These moths probably just happened to fly into the well,” Wu Xiaoxie said, using his gun as a stick to lift up the white snake skin under the stone sculpture’s face and show it to everyone. “We need to be careful; this is a big one. It just shed its skin here not long ago.”

Wu Sansheng walked over and touched it with his hand. It felt sticky, and his face immediately changed. "Damn it, pick up all the guns! This skin is still very fresh. The snake that just shed its skin must not have gone far."

Everyone tensed up immediately and sped up the removal of the mycelium, then used their headlamps to illuminate the shaft entrance.

But after searching for a long time, I found nothing.

Having searched all the lower shafts, the group had no choice but to focus on the almost vertical shafts at the top.

One of Mop's henchmen, a small, thin fellow with excellent climbing skills, climbed up the crack along the edge of the water tank. After checking four or five cracks, he finally exclaimed with delight, "There's one here!"

Wu Sansheng told him to tie the rope and lower himself down, and the rest of them climbed up one by one. Just as two or three people had climbed up, they heard the kid shout again, "Wait, boss, Third Master, there's one more over here!"

As Wu Sansheng turned on his miner's lamp to look up, a flash of red light suddenly appeared. The next second, the skinny man let out a shrill scream and vanished in an instant.

"Damn it! There's a snake in the well! Shoot!"

Zhang Wuxun roared, grabbed a gun from who-knows-who, and fired two shots into the well.

With a soft thud, a long, soft object fell from above and landed at everyone's feet.

Before everyone could realize what was happening, another scream erupted from above. The short man who had been pulled up earlier, covered in blood, struggled halfway out of the well opening, but before he could call for help, he was pulled back down.

A chilling squeezing sound was heard, as if all the bones and internal organs in the body were being squeezed together, and the screams stopped abruptly.

With a crackling sound, a large swarm of tiny crested snakes crawled down from the well opening, leaped into the air, and darted into the crowd like lightning.

Everyone scrambled to take cover and frantically opened fire.

Amidst the intense gunfire, a blood-red python as thick as a bowl emerged from the wellhead above, its tongue flicking, and its bright red comb still dripping blood.

Upon seeing this, Zhang Wuxun's pupils constricted, and he roared, "Everyone retreat! Retreat back to the tunnel we came from!"

Unfortunately, the mop gang was terrified and completely disregarded everything, yelling and firing wildly, squeezing into any gap they could find.

Zhang Wuxun cursed under his breath, then quickly pulled Wu Xiaoxie and Fatty behind the central stone pillar to dodge the stray bullets flying haphazardly.

Just as they were about to pull Wu Sansheng and Pan Zi over, they discovered that the two of them had been pushed away by the chaotic crowd.

Helpless, he could only stay where he was, take out some egg whites and sprinkle them around the three of them, waiting for the swarm of snakes to chase away the fleeing men.

As the booming gunfire faded into the distance, Zhang Wuxun poked his head out and looked down into the well. There were five or six corpses lying haphazardly on the ground. The pheasant-like snake was coiling down from above, biting the necks of the corpses and carrying them upwards.

As soon as Zhang Wuxun peeked out, the large pheasant's neck spotted him, its body and head bent into a fishhook shape, its venomous and sinister eyes staring intently at him.

Their eyes met, and Zhang Wuxun silently raised his gun. Behind him, Wu Xiaoxie and the other man held their breath in tension, cold sweat beading on their foreheads. The pheasant loosened its fangs, dropped the corpse from its mouth, and climbed up the top of the reservoir to the stone pillar behind Zhang Wuxun and the others. It coiled around the pillar like a rope, its comb standing alertly, as if testing the waters.

Seeing this, Zhang Wuxun conjured a small jar out of thin air in his hand, quietly waiting for the right moment. The instant the pheasant poked its head down, he unleashed a flick of his wrist, splattering all the egg whites from the jar onto the pheasant's neck.

Instantly, the pheasant's neck seemed to be irritated by sulfuric acid, white steam billowed from the snake's body, its mouth opened wide, emitting a shrill hissing sound, and its body twisted in pain, trying to rub off the egg white that had just gotten on it.

The saying "strike while the iron is hot" is absolutely true.

Fearing to alert the other crested snakes that had already moved away, Zhang Wuxun did not fire his gun. Instead, he drew the black gold ancient sword from his back, stood up, found the right angle, and swung his sword, severing its head in one stroke.

"My goodness!" the fat man bared his teeth and yelled, "What's in this jar? It's even more potent than sulfuric acid!"

The snake, now out of control of its brain, could no longer support itself and fell off the stone pillar. Its blood-red body, which had just shed its skin, was now covered in black, rotten scales near its head, a bloody mess, with bones protruding from the flesh in some severely damaged areas.

"It's a poison I found in an ancient Miao tomb, specifically designed to deal with these highly venomous snakes." Zhang Wuxun sheathed his knife, waved the jar in his hand, made a small joke, and then put it into his spatial storage.

The two fat men were clearly used to Zhang Wuxun's behavior.

"I don't know where my third uncle and the others have gone," Wu Xiaoxie sighed, looking at the messy footprints in the well and muttering to himself.

Zhang Wuxun stood at the wellhead and sensed it for a moment. "It's over here. Follow me."

He thought to himself, "After this frank and open conversation, Wu Sansheng shouldn't throw away the safety amulet I gave him out of suspicion anymore."

The fat man took two steps, then turned to look at the egg whites at the bottom of the reservoir that hadn't completely dried out, looking somewhat regretful.

After thinking for a moment, he reached out to Zhang Wuxun and said, "Do you have any empty cans or anything? I'll scoop up these snake repellents and take them with me, otherwise they'll go to waste."

Zhang Wuxun smiled and shook his head, then took out a box and a shovel from his backpack and gave them to him.

The fat man quickly scooped up the layer of mud soaked in egg white and put it into a box, holding it happily.

To avoid disturbing the other snakes, the three of them slung their guns over their backs, held daggers in their hands, and crouched low as they carefully walked through the well.

When the mop gang fled, they were completely routed. Every now and then, you could see their discarded headlamps and water bottles. Perhaps because they still retained the warmth and scent of humans, a few snakes were still coiled around them, biting and unwilling to leave.

Upon spotting a lone snake, Zhang Wuxun reached behind his back and made several hand gestures, which Wu Xiaoxie and Fatty understood.

Silently counting to three, Zhang Wuxun darted forward like an arrow released from a bow, swung his arm, and with a flash of cold light, severed both snakes in two.

The two fat men who followed closely behind also stabbed one of the daggers to death. Just as they straightened up, Zhang Wuxun suddenly stared in one direction, his eyes flashing with cold light, and the dagger in his hand flew out the instant he turned his head.

The last pheasant was nipped in the bud before it could even make its call.
