Chapter 202 The First Rain
Around 3 p.m., a large cloud drifted over and blocked the sun. Large raindrops fell, creating small craters on the ground.

Wu Xiaoxie woke up once during the middle of the night, drank some porridge, and then fell asleep again.

"A-Ning" lay there motionless. If he hadn't heard her breathing, he would have thought that this woman had died as soon as she appeared on screen.

A burst of noise, mixed with the rain, drifted into Zhang Wuxun's ears.

Zhang Wuxun got up and stood at the entrance of the cave, looking out.

A short while later, several figures ran into Zhang Wuxun's line of sight in the heavy rain.

The fat man, clutching a copper coin in his hand, was drenched in rain and couldn't open his eyes. "Damn it, the wooden fish mark ends here."

Pan Zi wiped the water off his face and looked around. "We've found the last copper coin, which means that Third Master and the others are nearby. Let's search carefully."

The young man's gaze pierced through the rain and suddenly locked onto a spot, where he saw Zhang Wuxun standing at the entrance of a cave waving at him. He then took a step and walked towards that spot.

"Hey buddy," the fat man quickly caught up, "What's up, found it?"

The young man hummed in agreement and continued walking.

Upon approaching and seeing Zhang Wuxun, the fat man exclaimed, "Good heavens, so you guys were hiding here! I've been looking all over for you!"

As she spoke, she even tried to rush over and give Zhang Wuxun a big hug.

Zhang Wuxun quickly dodged, "Don't run around all wet. There's only a small dry spot here, you'll get everything soaked."

Pan Zi came in and saw Wu Xiaoxie sleeping soundly by the fire. He breathed a sigh of relief and asked Zhang Wuxun, "How is Third Master?"

Zhang Wuxun laughed and said, "It's nothing serious. He just fainted from dehydration. He'll be fine after taking some sugar and salt supplements. He woke up once earlier, ate, and then went back to sleep."

Pan Zi nodded and smiled gratefully.

The fat man took off his shirt, wrung it out, and managed to find a rope to hang it up to dry.

With the arrival of the fat man, the quality of their meals noticeably improved.

"Now you know how important Fatty is, right? You can't even eat properly without Fatty." Fatty stirred the soup in the pot with a spoon and said smugly.

Zhang Wuxun gave a thumbs up, "It's a pity you weren't here when we ate mutton the other day."

Wu Xiaoxie was awakened by the aroma. When he opened his eyes, he saw the fat man's rough face. After a couple of seconds of reaction, he looked at Pan Zi and the others and immediately understood what was going on.

"Damn it, so I'm the only one who begged and pleaded to come along?" Wu Xiaoxie said angrily.

Pan Zi quickly explained, then said, "When the young man left a message knowing that you were also in the group, Third Master was quite startled. He then realized that you must have found out about the clues and come here through some channel."

Pan Zi smiled wryly, "The reason Third Master didn't want us to tell you is actually because he didn't want you to get involved. He's doing it for your own good."

No wonder that smug-looking black bear kept trying to talk to him along the way, and seemed to be taking care of him. At the time, I didn't understand why, but now I realize it was all because of my third uncle.

The guy also said he was on his side; so that's how the damn people were standing.

Wu Xiaoxie was now immune to those words. Hearing this, he didn't say anything more. He had made up his mind not to go back, and no amount of money could change his mind. He only asked, "Where is my third uncle?" "Third Master is still behind. He will catch up after he meets up with Black Bear. Little Brother, Fatty, and I are leading the way," Pan Zi said.

"I just didn't expect you to have such bad luck on the way, with so many misfortunes." Panzi handed the lunchbox to Wu Xiaoxie. "Little Third Master, eat more and rest for the night. Whether the rain stops or not, we have to go."

The fat man chuckled, "You're lucky to have Muyu by your side to take care of you. Otherwise, you and that woman would have been dried into mummies before the rain even came."

After saying that, he looked up and shouted towards the side where "A-Ning" was lying: "Hey woman, wake up and come eat when you wake up. Fatty won't charge you."

Upon hearing this, Zhang Wuxun raised an eyebrow. The fat man probably pocketed the ten copper coins, which was why he was being so generous.

Once "A Ning" was exposed, she simply stopped pretending, stood up and coldly surveyed the room, "A bunch of two-faced people. So you had planned this all along. I was kept in the dark the whole time, treating you to good food and drink."

The fat man was displeased. "Miss Aning, don't be so rude. If you're going to admit defeat, you have to accept it. This is a reasonable plan of ours. You didn't stipulate that we can't collect money from two companies at the same time. Who's to blame?"

"A Ning" walked over and glared fiercely at Wu Xiaoxie and Zhang Wuxun.

Wu Xiaoxie touched his nose. "Why are you glaring at me? I've been kept completely in the dark too, you know."

After dinner, the rain gradually subsided.

Looking at the water droplets dripping from the cave entrance, Wu Xiaoxie felt a little melancholy. "The rain is about to stop, but how are we going to get out? This place is so big it seems to have no end, and we can't find a way out no matter which way we go."

The fat man laughed upon hearing this, "You think we're as stupid as you? When Muyu came to find you, he left a mark on the road, and we made the mark even darker. We even found the pattern here."

Wu Xiaoxie asked curiously, "What pattern?"

The fat man chuckled, "Actually, the scattered rocks here are a deliberate illusion created by someone. This place also has a special magnetic field interference. To sum it up in one sentence, it's like Qimen Dunjia (a form of divination).

Then he began to explain in detail, going on and on.

After listening, Wu Xiaoxie suddenly realized, "So that's how it is. No wonder I couldn't get out even though I was walking my legs off course, even though I wasn't going in the wrong direction."

The fat man nodded. "It's not a very sophisticated formation. It was probably created by the Queen Mother of the West to defend against enemy forces. If someone as simple-minded yet meticulous as me were to encounter it, it would be easy to see through."

Wu Xiaoxie exclaimed in surprise, "So, the Kingdom of the Queen Mother of the West really is here."

No wonder Chen Wenjin sent word that time was running out. She had mentioned in her notes that only during the rainy season could one find traces of the Queen Mother of the West's underground palace by following the water flow. And the rainy season in Tamutuo was in the last few days. If they missed this opportunity, they would have to wait another five years.

After analyzing the upcoming itinerary, Wu Xiaoxie felt that he was in such a sorry state that he was too ashamed to face his third uncle, so he suggested that he follow Pan Zi and the others ahead.

Pan Zi agreed after a moment's thought. Rather than having the Third Master follow the bunch of good-for-nothings that the Third Master hired, it would be better for him to follow the more capable Xiao Ge and Mu Yu.

After resting in the cave for two days, Wu Xiaoxie and A Ning had fully recovered, and the group set off to leave the Devil City following the markings.

As the days passed, the bearded foreigners waiting outside were in despair. When they saw the group emerge alive and unharmed, they could hardly believe their eyes.

"Oh my God! God bless you!" The bearded foreigner was so excited that tears welled up in his eyes, and he kept making the sign of the cross on his chest.
