Chapter 197 Pay off debts

Zhang Wuxun dropped the person on his back, pointed at his head, and said to A Ning, who came over to check, "Is the team doctor here? This guy hit his head. Let's see if he can survive."

After saying that, he picked up his water bag, got up, and walked out of the ditch.

Aning called out to him, "The team doctor hasn't been found yet, where are you going?"

"Looking for someone, Tianzhen hasn't kept up," Zhang Wu asked.

Ah Ning glanced at the person Hei Xiazi had put down; it was indeed not Wu Xiaoxie.

“It’s windy right now. Once this gust of wind passes, you and Hei Xiazi should go out together. Otherwise, if we don’t find you and you get lost, we’ll have to go through all the trouble of looking for you.” Aning analyzed rationally.

Zhang Wuxun ignored her and glanced at the young man.

The young man nodded, put down the water bag, and the two crossed the sand dunes. After running a short distance, they heard a noise behind them, turned around, and saw that Black Bear had also come out.

Zhang Wuxun wasn't surprised to learn that Hei Xiazi was actually hired by Wu Sansheng.

Every second of delay meant more danger for Wu Xiaoxie. Zhang Wuxun couldn't care less about anything else at this moment. Following his intuition about the safety buckle, he sped off in one direction.

Seeing that his route and the direction indicated by the compass were getting further and further off course, Hei Xiazi stepped forward to stop him and made a few hand gestures.

Zhang Wuxun shook his head and continued moving in the direction he sensed.

Hei Xiazi and Xiao Ge exchanged a glance, said nothing more, and followed behind Zhang Wuxun.

Zhang Wuxun picked up a backpack he found on the road and immediately recognized it as Wu Xiaoxie's, indicating that this was the right direction.

The three ran a little further, crossed a raised sand dune, and saw a miner's lamp with its lampshade smashed at the bottom of the slope. Two or three meters ahead, a person was lying face down, motionless like an ostrich.

"Where!"

Zhang Wuxun hurriedly ran over, turned Wu Xiaoxie over, and patted his face, "Tianzhen, wake up, don't sleep."

Wu Xiaoxie let out a soft groan, his eyelids twitching twice.

Zhang Wuxun breathed a sigh of relief, helped him sit up, opened the water pouch and held it to his mouth, "Here, open your mouth."

The young man squatted down beside them, using his back to shield them from the wind.

Wu Xiaoxie choked and coughed after only a few sips of water, groggily opening his eyes, "Cough cough... wooden fish..."

"It's alright now." Zhang Wuxun helped him stand up, let him lean on his back, and turned his head to ask, "Where are the others?"

Wu Xiaoxie weakly pointed in a direction.

The deliveryman took a picture of Wu Xun and gestured for him to wait there.

Then he and Hei Xiazi ran in the direction Wu Xiaoxie pointed.

Half an hour later, the two of them ran back, each carrying one on their back.

The three returned to the temporary shelter and went out several more times, bringing back a few more people. Even with their strong physique, they were starting to feel the strain.

The wind intensified, and anyone who was slightly lighter could be blown over and rolled around if they stood up.

It was clearly impractical to go out and look for people at this point. As the team leader, Aning had to consider the bigger picture. There were two or three meters deep ditch ditches here, enough to shelter them from the wind. Exhausted, everyone huddled together, quickly ate something, and soon fell into a deep sleep.

The sandstorm swirled overhead, and the trade winds howled and howled, filling my ears like the lamentations of wronged souls, giving me an indescribable sense of desolation.

When I woke up, the wind had subsided considerably, which was a good sign.

Ah Ning arranged for people to take turns keeping watch at night, and then, with dark circles under her eyes and carrying a miner's lamp, she and the young man went out again.

The team doctor was never found, and it's estimated that he's probably dead.

Zhang Wuxun had no choice but to stay and take on the duties of a doctor, caring for the wounded, while Wu Xiaoxie assisted him.

Two hours later, Aning and her two companions only brought back one person this time, indicating that they had traveled a long way.

Ah Ning sipped water slowly, her lips dry and chapped. Zhang Wuxun handed her the self-heating rice he had prepared. "Eat some, then take a nap. If you don't rest, you'll die suddenly, and the team will be disbanded and you'll go home."

Ah Ning forced a smile, took the food, scooped up the food with a spoon and ate it in large mouthfuls, saying indistinctly, "I'm the team leader, so I have to express my attitude no matter what."

Zhang Wuxun chuckled, "It was really not worth coming out with you."

Ah Ning slapped the empty lunchbox into Zhang Wuxun's hand and said with a smile, "I'll give you extra money because you worked so hard."

Something doesn't sound right about that.
Zhang Wuxun rolled his eyes. "Add more money? You still owe me money."

"When?" Aning didn't believe it.

Zhang Wuxun pulled the IOU out of his inner pocket and waved it in front of A Ning. "Here, the evidence, in black and white, and your right thumbprint, Miss A Ning. Don't try to renege on your debt."

Ah Ning snatched the note, glanced at it, and immediately tore it to shreds in anger, throwing it on the ground and stomping on it twice, yelling, "Ten million?! Do you think I'm stupid? Why don't you just rob someone?!"

Upon hearing Ah Ning swear, everyone stopped what they were doing and looked over.

“Hey, that’s not fair.” Zhang Wuxun counted on his fingers, calculating the score with her one by one. “Back then, when you were being controlled by someone and almost captured by the sea monkeys, I rushed in and risked my life to save you, right?”

"And when we came out of the underwater tomb, you tried to blow us up, but you were trapped by the Forbidden Woman. I saved you without holding a grudge. The two debts should be more than this. I'm a kind person, so I gave you a discount because we've known each other for a while. What, your life isn't worth this much?"

Ah Ning's face was like a spilled paint palette, turning red and green in turns. She laughed angrily, "So that's why you suddenly came up to me so attentive. You were just waiting for me here."

Fearing she might suddenly attack him, Zhang Wuxun took two steps back and said with a grin, "Paying back debts is a matter of course."

Ah Ning suddenly realized what was happening and said coldly, "You say I owe you money, but the IOU is torn up and there's no proof. What can you do to me?"

Knowing this woman wouldn't honestly pay back the money, Zhang Wuxun was prepared. He pulled out another IOU from his inner pocket and waved it around. "I was already on guard against you. Here, this is the real IOU. The one you tore off was printed by me, and I put my own fingerprint on it."

Under the watchful eyes of everyone, Ah Ning couldn't renege on her debt, so she had no choice but to write Zhang Wuxun a check for ten million, sign it, and angrily throw it at him, yelling, "You just wait!"

After confirming the check was valid, Zhang Wuxun happily put it away and returned to Wu Xiaoxie's side.

After watching the whole thing, Wu Xiaoxie was full of admiration. "You're really something! You actually got the debt back. Fatty will be devastated if he finds out."

After emerging from the underwater tomb, Aning ran away from the hospital, and Fatty never got his commission back, so the matter was eventually dropped.

That's why Fatty has always disliked A-Ning, thinking that this woman is untrustworthy and very annoying.
