Chapter 175 The Eleventh

Zhang Wuxun sat in a chair, staring wide-eyed at Wu Sansheng, who was sitting on the bed.

"Um, have you had lunch yet?" Zhang Wuxun moved the wontons in his hand closer to Wu Sansheng. "These wontons are fresh out of the pot, would you like to have some?"

Wu Sansheng's eyes lit up, and he gestured with his chin toward the folding table beside the bed without saying a word.

Zhang Wuxun immediately understood. The arrogant old man, just like Wu Xiaogou, had to be stroked gently.

Zhang Wuxun set up a small table, placed wontons on it, and prepared spoons. He then gestured for the wontons to be served, saying, "Please enjoy."

Wu Sansheng took a spoonful, nodded, and said, "Hmm, not bad."

Zhang Wuxun smiled, sat back down in his chair, picked up the knife and apple on the table, and slowly began to peel them.

Wu Xiaoxie returned quickly, carrying a delivery box in his hand.

Upon entering the room and seeing that his third uncle was still leisurely eating, he immediately glared at him, threw the package to Zhang Wuxun, put down the thermos, grabbed a spoon, and snatched two wontons from his third uncle's bowl.

Wu Sansheng stared in disbelief, pointing at him with his spoon, speechless for a long time.

Wu Xiaoxie proudly took his bowl and began to eat it with relish.

After peeling two apples, Zhang Wuxun threw the peels into the trash can, wiped his hands, picked up the package, glanced at it, and asked, "What did you buy?"

With food in his mouth, Wu Xiaoxie mumbled, "I don't know, I guess it was sent by my family. Could you open it for me and take a look?"

Zhang Wuxun saw the sender's name on the express delivery slip, and even though he was mentally prepared, his eyelids still twitched involuntarily.

Wu Xiaoxie took a sip of soup, sighed, and seeing that Zhang Wuxun remained silent, leaned forward curiously and asked, "Who sent it?"

Zhang Wuxun placed the package on the table, his expression somewhat serious. "You should finish your meal first, I'm afraid you won't be able to eat later."

Wu Sansheng asked curiously, "What is so mysterious about it?"

Wu Xiaoxie quickly finished the wontons, placed the bowl on the table, picked up the package, and glanced at the sender's name. "What could this be? So mysterious..."

After a pause, Wu Xiaoxie rubbed his eyes, double-checked that the signature was indeed "Zhang Qiling," and then exclaimed, "Holy crap!"

"What's going on?" Wu Xiaoxie was astonished. "Why would the delivery guy send me a package? Did he come out of the bronze door? When did he come out? And what's the meaning of sending me a package?"

Looking at the shipping date, it was four days ago, and the address and contact information were blank.

Wu Xiaoxie's mind raced, and his voice trembled slightly, "Muyu, why don't you take it apart? I'm a little scared, what if there's a human head or something inside..."

Zhang Wuxun was speechless. "You're overthinking it. Packages are scanned before being sent out. The delivery guy isn't that crazy. Don't scare yourself."

“That’s true.” Wu Xiaoxie scratched his head. “Then hurry up and open it, let’s see what the delivery guy sent.”

Wu Sansheng pulled out a nail clipper from under his pillow at the opportune moment, with some callus skin still stuck to it.

Zhang Wuxun's lips twitched, his fingers twitched, and he resisted the urge to throw the thing away. He took out a small knife made of a wolf's tooth from his keychain and cut open the sealing tape.

"What's inside?" Wu Sansheng asked, putting the nail clippers away. Zhang Wuxun took out a rectangular object wrapped in bubble wrap and black tape. "I don't know, it's wrapped too tightly."

After breaking the tape, the cuboid split into two parts. Upon removing the bubble wrap, they were all dumbfounded.

"These are... two videotapes?" Wu Xiaoxie was very confused. "Why did Brother send me these things? Did he record everything he saw inside the Bronze Gate and want to share it with us?"

Wu Sansheng's expression changed, and he said, "Let me see," reaching out to grab the videotape.

Wu Xiaoxie caught something from his expression and stopped him, "No, this was sent to me by Brother Ren. If we're going to look at it, we should look at it together. Don't try to keep it all to yourself."

Wu Sansheng slapped his thigh, "Oh dear nephew, I kept those things from you before for your own good. You can't be ungrateful. Besides, you didn't tell me you were still in contact with him."

"Tch, don't try to turn the tables on me, I'm not buying it." Wu Xiaoxie rolled her eyes. "You've said 'for my own good' so many times, I'm sick of hearing it. If you really care about me, you should tell me everything."

Upon hearing this, Wu Sansheng became dejected.

He changed the subject, "Nephew, let's take a look at what's on these two tapes first. This guy is secretive; he wouldn't send things for no reason. These two tapes might be something special. I'll contact someone and see if we can find a VCR that can play these kinds of tapes."

“No way,” Wu Xiaoxie refused. “This kind of video recorder is outdated and obsolete. You might not even be able to buy it at the secondhand market. Let my men inquire first. You can continue from where you left off.” As he spoke, he gave Zhang Wuxun, who was sitting in the chair, a wink.

Wu Sansheng opened his mouth, then sighed, clearly not expecting that his simple-minded nephew was no longer so easily fooled.

He could only continue speaking, and Zhang Wuxun, receiving a look from Wu Xiaoxie, nodded imperceptibly.

Wu Sansheng began to talk about the underwater tomb.

The story, which was as long as foot binding, wasn't finished until evening.

Wu Sansheng revealed a crucial piece of information: among the ten people on the ship at the time, there was one hidden in the shadows who knew about the underwater tomb.

Wu Xiaoxie frowned, racking his brains to sort out these complicated relationships.

Uncle San patted him on the shoulder and smiled wryly: "If you ask me, this matter is definitely not over yet. Let's see what's inside first."

Uncle San's tone was tired and helpless, and Wu Xiaoxie felt a mix of emotions.

The atmosphere was a little solid for a while.

After Zhang Wuxun finished listening to the story and said goodbye, Wu Xiaoxie saw him out. On the way, Wu Xiaoxie summarized what his third uncle had said earlier and told Zhang Wuxun, "There are many loopholes in what your third uncle said. We can only selectively believe him. We must not follow his train of thought, lest we be led astray by him."

Zhang Wuxun found it amusing. These two were a cunning old fox and a growing young fox, but in the end, the old fox was still the most cunning.

Zhang Wuxun hesitated for a moment before saying, "Actually, there's a loophole in what your third uncle said. The archaeological team that went to Xisha consisted of ten people, and we've matched all ten people in the photo. But have you ever thought about who took this photo back then?"

Wu Xiaoxie was startled and his eyes widened. "You mean, besides the photo, there's an eleventh person!"

Zhang Wuxun nodded. "To find out who the eleventh person is, we still need to investigate. The archaeological team should still have files at their old unit, but we don't know if they've been renovated."
