Chapter 869 Renault, the Spectator

Chapter 869 Renault, the Spectator
“Damn it… I think there’s some misunderstanding!” Legolas said awkwardly as he was pinned to the ground.

"Misunderstanding? Let's talk about it when we see the city guard officer!" Without further ado, the soldiers of the Kingdom of Akvia tied the two men up with knots, then considerately removed the daggers from their bodies, picked up the weapons that had fallen to the ground, and escorted them toward the city guard officer's office.

……

"Your Highness Legolas? What's with this look?" Maple Leaf Purple, as a general of the White Wings, was also in charge of the city defense of the capital. After all, the Kingdom of Akvia was small and did not employ many nobles, so Maple Leaf Purple, as the commander of the Imperial Guard, naturally took on the additional role of the city defense officer of the capital.

When the city guard saw Legolas, bound hand and foot, leading an unfamiliar human into his presence, Maple Leaf Purple was honestly quite bewildered! Why was he brought here tied up?
(Legolas: Let me go! I'm going to report this to the central government!)

"I already said it was a misunderstanding!" Legolas, who had originally wanted to shrug, failed because he was tied up. He looked at the soldiers holding him next to him with displeasure.

"What's going on?" Maple Leaf Purple turned her gaze to the soldiers.

"A citizen reported that two armed men suddenly rushed out of the hotel. They looked like bandits or orc spies! When we arrived, they were pointing their weapons at the citizens!" The soldiers exchanged glances, shrugged, and reported. After all, these two didn't look like good people!
"What have you two been up to?" Maple Leaf Purple also became serious. Had these two caused some big commotion in the Kingdom of Akvia? She hadn't heard a thing!

“Your bell rang… We thought it was an emergency alarm and someone was breaking in, so we climbed out the window, hoping to be of some help… So, you know!” Legolas shrugged behind his back.

"Untie them!" Maple Leaf Purple glanced at Legolas and shook her head helplessly.

"Honestly, you're just running around the city with a weapon for no reason! Are you alright? My men didn't hurt you, did they?" Maple Leaf Purple grabbed Legolas and pulled him away.

"Sigh..." Legolas stretched his wrists, about to bring up Aragorn, but Maple Leaf Purple, dragging him along, didn't give him a chance.

"Alright, I'm going to take the VIP to see His Majesty the King. Please ask this gentleman to leave!" Maple Leaf Purple waved to the soldiers.

……

"Sir, here are your weapons. We apologize for our rudeness!" The soldiers returned Aragorn's longsword and dagger to him after seeing him off, and nodded apologetically.

"Huh?" Aragorn stood bewildered at the entrance of the city guard post, his weapons flailing in the wind. Who am I? Where am I? What am I supposed to do?
"Oh no... my friend is still inside!" Aragorn cried as he lunged forward.

"Crack!" Two crossed spears blocked Aragorn's path, and the two guards at the door simultaneously stretched out their hands.

"Excuse me, sir! This is military territory. Please leave immediately!" the guard said coldly, refusing Aragorn's request to enter.

"Ugh! My friend's still inside!" Aragorn completely snapped. Throwing himself out while leaving Legolas inside to entertain guests? Aragorn's good impression of the Kingdom of Akvia instantly crumbled, replaced by a feeling of utter injustice... Middle-earth really is a society where connections matter! Having an Elvenking as a father is so advantageous! Wait a minute! I'm still the King of Gondor! Aragorn quickly realized that although he had self-proclaimed the title, it didn't diminish his motivation to make it a reality!

"Pfft!" A low laugh came from afar. "Who?" Aragorn's ears twitched, and he turned around to see who was laughing at him. But there were only a few hurried pedestrians on the road. Aragorn shook his head, thinking he had misheard. After another fruitless negotiation with the guards, he could only take his weapon and return to the inn.

……

"No! How could you do this?" Aragorn stared at the luggage left at the door, his eyes blazing with fury.

"Excuse me, excuse me! We were afraid of getting into trouble, please come in, sir!" The innkeeper hurriedly came out and gave a long explanation. Because the two had been taken away by the guards, the timid innkeeper was afraid of getting involved, so he quickly packed up their luggage and threw it out. Now that Aragorn had been found, there was naturally no problem, so the innkeeper once again invited Aragorn in with a smile.

"Ha! Interesting!" In the shadows not far away, several cloaked figures watched Aragorn's movements silently. As the cold wind blew, lifting a corner of the cloak, a bright silver light flashed and disappeared.

"General, what's there to worry about with this guy? He's just an ordinary loser. He looks like a vagrant!" someone whispered.

"A homeless person?" The leader seemed to have heard something amusing, a hint of mockery in his eyes.

"Be more careful! A vagrant has no use for the longswords of the Rivendell elves! And he certainly can't be friends with the future king of the Woodland Kingdom!" As the face was revealed from the shadows, the newcomer was none other than Reno, the garrison commander of Lulong!
“Although I don’t know why His Majesty is so fixated on this guy, it’s clear he’s no ordinary person!” Renault picked up a snowflake and watched it melt into water.

"Alright, we've seen enough of the show and the people, we can go back now! Have the Hidden Guards keep an eye on them!" Having had his fill of the spectacle, Renault had lost interest. Judging from Aragorn's arrest and being refused entry, while this man was no ordinary person, he certainly didn't have any fame or background in the North, at least not to the point where the Kingdom of Akvia needed to take him seriously. Yet, Roland was paying him special attention…

Although Renault couldn't understand it, he didn't need to. After all, the king's will was the target of his sword; he only needed to be loyal to the king. While King Roland's tactical acumen was embarrassingly poor, strategically he always seemed to grasp the pulse of history! If Roland knew what Renault was thinking, he'd probably say: "Nonsense, if you can't win even with X-ray vision, why don't you just go die!" Ah? Not directed at you, Denethor II…

Back at the inn, Aragorn was unaware that before he even set foot on the land of this kingdom that filled him with such curiosity, the kingdom's general had already secretly met him.

……

"What's the situation? What kind of person is he?" Yun Feng asked calmly without even raising his head, his pen never stopping.

"Your Majesty Yunfeng, Your Excellency the Duke!" Renault greeted the two first.

"Black hair, tall and handsome, he must have some status, after all, his demeanor is indeed quite extraordinary! But that's about it, since being thrown out by the Akvia Kingdom's city defense forces, he probably doesn't have any illustrious status." Renault sat down and nodded at Yunfeng and Duke Joelsteria.

“He is the chieftain of the Dúnedan, and currently the legitimate heir to the Gondor royal family! He simultaneously possesses the legitimate royal lineage of both Arnor and Gondor! In other words, he can claim the right to inherit both countries at the same time!” Joelsteria said to Reno.

"..." Renault's pupils contracted, and his facial expression instantly became more complex.
