Chapter 843 Roland's Countermeasure

"Is there anything I can do to ease your worries, Your Majesty?" Uvasa appeared before Soren, kneeling respectfully on one knee. His face, hidden in the black mist, showed no expression, only the leisurely flickering soul fire indicating that he was a "living being".

"It's nothing. I'm just curious why that kingdom in the north is shrouded in so much mist?" Sauron said with some emotion. Those places shrouded in mist aroused his curiosity and vigilance. After all, the Crystal of True Knowledge was a rare artifact, yet it couldn't see through those places. This made Sauron, who originally thought he had a grasp on the situation in the entire Middle-earth, feel a sense of loss of control for the first time.

"Shall I infiltrate and investigate?" Uvasa asked respectfully.

"No need!" Sauron refused decisively this time without a trace of hesitation. After all, Uvasar's actions in the North could be described as either a failure or a complete failure! Sauron didn't want to hear about Uvasar's death again! The Three Rings' Thenar's betrayal and death were one thing, but his destruction of the Ring was a major headache for Sauron! It meant that Sauron would forever be missing a Ringwraith!
Thinking of those mad dog-like knights in the North, Sauron felt a chill. Those damned dragon knights were not someone he wanted to provoke right now, especially the long and arduous expedition to the North. Sauron wouldn't do something so unprofitable. He was more concerned about the weak "giant" beside him—Gondor!
"Let's not provoke those kingdoms to the north for now; our target is Gondor!" Thor's voice was hoarse and grating.

"Gondor? What about the northern kingdoms? They have dragon riders!" Uvasa asked in surprise.

“We can’t deal with both the north and the south at the same time. Let’s leave the north to those wandering orcs for now!” Sauron, focused on preparing for war, was determined to crush Gondor in one fell swoop. As for that powerful little kingdom in the north, Sauron believed that as long as the wandering orcs kept destroying their farms and villages, they could curb their development potential. After all, through the Crystal of Truth, he saw the same problem as Denethor II: the kingdom was too small, so small that there was no room for error. It was this that made Sauron determined to deal with Gondor and Rohan, rather than heading north to kill Roland first.

"Feel? Feel what?" Adolf Heinrich stared blankly at Roland, wondering if his king had "relapsed" again. "It seems you didn't notice..." Roland nodded knowingly. It wasn't surprising; after all, if the True Knowledge Crystal's ability to spy was so easily perceived, it wouldn't be a divine artifact!
"What's wrong?" Adolf Heinrich's face darkened. He knew from Roland's expression that something different must have happened.

“Something in Mordor was spying on us just now…” Before Roland could finish speaking, he felt a massive surge of spiritual energy erupt from beside him, sweeping across the entire city of Lagrange and spreading outwards.

“It’s a spying from Mordor… not from outside the city!” Roland rubbed his temples, signaling Adolf Heinrich to calm down.

"..." Adolf Heinrich blinked, and then his mental energy surged back into his body like a tide.

"Well? How did you know..." Before he could finish speaking, Adolf Heinrich wisely shut his mouth. After all, the legacy of the Lagrange Empire was so rich that only heaven knew what Roland had inherited.

"Oh? The things left behind by the Empire are truly extraordinary!" Adolf Heinrich exclaimed knowingly. Indeed, the Empire was no ordinary entity; even the three cities it left behind could block the gaze of strange objects! It seemed the wise man who sealed these cities had left behind powerful magical arrays!

Adolf Heinrich was naturally unaware that this was actually the system intercepting Soren's spying on the system's cities; other cities Roland built himself were not protected in any way!

"Oh no! Joel's dragons are still on the Lagrange Plains!" Adolf Heinrich suddenly slapped his forehead. If Soren saw them, it would be a real problem!
"Do we have anyone with them?" Roland asked calmly.

“No, the dragons live alone, but our dragon knights visit them every day to make sure they are still in our kingdom,” Adolf Heinrich shook his head.

"That's alright! Even if Mordor sees them, they'll just think they're wild dragons!" Roland said easily. After all, such a large group of dragons had no riders or saddles. As long as Roland shouted in dissatisfaction in Middle-earth, who would know they belonged to the Kingdom of Lagrange?

“That’s true…” Adolf Heinrich scratched his head, realizing he had stumbled into a dead end. Those dragons living in the wild were almost indistinguishable from wild dragons, the only difference being that they accepted the kingdom’s rule over them.

"However, we should still be careful to keep the army in these three cities as much as possible, and not station too many people in other places!" Roland added. If Soren knew the current configuration of Roland's troops, it was obvious that Soren would definitely kill Roland first.
