Chapter 712 Second Son Mercenary Group

Chapter 712 Second Son Mercenary Group

"My horse got separated from the orcs during the conflict! I barely managed to escape!" Caslo said, glancing at the mercenaries above and making up a flimsy excuse.

"Conflict? Escaped?" The mercenaries above exchanged glances, somewhat skeptical of Caslo's words. After all, Caslo's neat armor didn't look like he had been in a battle.

"Trouble! These people are probably quite powerful! They're equipped with a lot of magical gear!" Kaldor's voice echoed in Caslo's mind.

"Something's definitely not right. Their equipment is too luxurious!" Caslo looked at the mercenaries with some curiosity. Much of their equipment was the kind that only low-ranking nobles in the Middle Kingdom could afford. Why would someone who could afford such equipment be a mercenary? And not just one, but a whole group! This is something!
"Sorry! We're not open to strangers right now. If you want protection, you can camp outside. Generally, monsters and orcs don't dare to come near the city!" After the mercenaries whispered and discussed for a while, one of them leaned on the city wall and said to Caslo below.

"Sigh, troublesome!" Caslo sighed and released the aura of a fifth-tier knight, with a massive dragon force soaring into the sky! Caslo was betting that these mercenaries wouldn't be able to distinguish between dragon force and battle aura. In fact, unless they fought, most people couldn't tell the difference between dragon force and battle aura flames. As long as Caslo suppressed the dragon's might, everything would be fine.

"Fifth...fifth rank...rank!" The mercenaries on top of Caslo's figure went weak in the knees. They stared blankly as Caslo strolled leisurely to the foot of the city and then jumped up with his knees bent.

"You're all very good, but unfortunately your rules can't bind me!" Caslo casually patted a mercenary on the shoulder, but the mercenary suddenly fainted and collapsed to the ground with a thud.

"Who are you?" A knight who had rushed over after hearing the news blocked Caslo's path.

"Who I am is none of your business. I'm just a passing traveler. Get out of my way!" Caslo narrowed his eyes at the knight blocking his way. The knight was a third-tier knight who was around thirty years old. Among knights, he was considered to have some potential and had a chance to reach the fourth tier in his lifetime. However, he was no match for Caslo, who was a Dragon Knight General!

"Isn't your attitude a bit too aggressive? I'm just asking out of a sense of duty, and as a guest, shouldn't you abide by the rules of the host?" The knight frowned as he sensed Caslo's unfathomable strength, clearly realizing that he was no match for Caslo.

"Rules are determined by strength, and you are not qualified to make me abide by your rules! I said I am just a passing traveler, and I am only here to stay for one night!" Caslo ignored him completely and walked around him towards the village. To be honest, if they met someone of this strength on the battlefield, he wouldn't even have the right to talk to Caslo!
……

"Captain? We're just going to let him in like this? We..." The mercenary who rushed over from behind looked at Caslo's back and asked the knight who had just stopped Caslo in a low voice.

"Stop them? We'll risk our lives to stop them? Even the captain might not be able to stop them, and you want me to? Do you think I have that kind of strength?" The knight looked at the mercenaries behind him with a disgusted expression.

“Then we…” the mercenaries hesitated.

"Forget it, let's ignore him. As long as he doesn't cause trouble, we'll just leave him be! The captain's mission is the most important! Everyone be careful, don't mess up the captain's mission!" The knight sighed and shook his head. However, he had to admit that he really had no ability to control Caslo.

……

"Old man, I'm curious, what's the deal with these mercenaries?" Caslo, who had already used his money to get into a family's door, asked the old man pouring him water with a curious look.

"I know! I know!" Before the old man could even speak, his grandson chirped excitedly.

"Oh my god! Are you out of your mind? What if those knights hear this?" The old man, startled by his grandson, quickly covered his grandson's mouth.

"It's alright, go ahead and talk. They won't do anything to you. Those knights don't seem like bad people!" Caslo shook his head and smiled. Being cautious in the wilderness is not a bad thing; it's a survival strategy accumulated over many years. Being unable to hear or see anything actually helps one live longer.

“And even if they try to do something reckless, I’ll take care of them!” Caslo confidently slammed his sword on the table. “Wow! What a beautiful sword! Can I take a look?” Seeing Caslo’s longsword, the old man’s grandson immediately broke free from his grandfather’s grasp and rushed over.

"Oh? Little guy, what's your name? Do you like swords?" Caslo asked with interest, pressing his sword against his hand, as Kaldor's voice had just echoed in his mind.

"Huh? There are actually warriors with innate awakening in such a small place?"

"Weiss! My name is Weiss!" Weiss said proudly, puffing out his chest.

“Oh! Weiss, what a nice name!” Caslo nodded. After all, commoners almost never had their own surnames, including Caslo himself. But now Caslo could have a surname and start his own family.

“Can Weiss tell me what you know? I can let you play with my sword in exchange!” Caslo brandished his longsword, his voice full of allure.

“Of course! From what I’ve overheard, this mercenary group is called the Second Son Mercenary Group! They are all well-equipped and powerful mercenaries!” Weiss said proudly.

"Hmm, and then?" Caslo asked, resting his chin on his hand, listening with great interest.

"That's all! That's all I heard!" Weiss said proudly with a matter-of-fact expression.

"Ouch! Holy crap!" The sudden turn almost caused Caslo to strain his back, and his chin nearly hit the table.

"That's it? That's all?" Caslo's lips twitched.

"Hey, hey, sir! It's my grandson who's being unreasonable. Let me explain, even though I don't know much either..." The old man noticed Caslo's shock and, fearing he might take his anger out on his grandson, quickly took over the conversation. He even slyly gave Caslo a heads-up beforehand, demonstrating his excellent survival skills.

"Ouch! That's heavy!" Taking advantage of the fact that no one was paying attention, Weiss laughed and snatched the longsword from Caslo's hand. Caslo let go without paying attention, but unexpectedly, Weiss almost smashed him into the ground.

"Oh! You're so reckless! Be careful!" the old man said affectionately, looking at his grandson with doting eyes.

"Please excuse me, sir. This child lost his parents when he was young, and I raised him single-handedly..." the old man sighed.

"Alright, let's get back to the point. Let me tell you about this Second Son Mercenary Group!" The old man shook his head and sighed as he looked at his grandson trying to draw his sword.

"This mercenary group has a complicated background. They are an elite mercenary group composed of a group of fallen nobles and the second sons of minor nobles who have no right to inherit! Unlike other mercenary groups that are not much better than bandits, they are truly elite mercenaries! I don't know why they suddenly came to our village this time..." The old man sighed helplessly. In the chaotic world, they can only cover their eyes and not meddle in other people's business in order to survive longer.

"Oh, right, I heard privately that these people are just the vanguard! There's a main force behind them!" the old man added, slapping his forehead.
