Chapter 596 Anthony Doss!
As the first rays of sunlight touched the earth, in an unnamed woodland in the Misty Mountains, various impact craters remained, trees were broken, and the ground was uprooted...

Roland lay quietly on the ground amidst a clump of withered leaves, his lifeless eyes long since devoid of light, his body cold and stiff. The Holy Shield of Eliar was encircled on his left arm, yet even the mighty Shield could not protect him… The Dragon's Chant, leaning to one side, was tilted to one side, the Dragon Slayer Sword at his chest still radiating a blinding cold light, his severed right arm lying several meters away, the whole scene appearing desolate and tragic…

No one knew that this renowned king of the Kingdom of Lagrange had died here, just as he had arrived in Middle-earth so quietly, and he had left just as quietly…

Before Roland died, the system popped up some windows, but he didn't have time to pay attention to them. His mind was filled with Nyx's smiling face.

……

"Crack!" A heavy sound rang out as something fell to the ground.

"Roar!" A deep dragon roar dispersed the wild beasts that were lurking around.

"Is this the place, Kurt?" A young man murmured solemnly. He had black hair and black eyes like Ajax, and his appearance was at least five parts similar to Ajax's. Black hair and eyes were extremely rare in the Lagrange Empire, which meant that he had royal blood flowing through his veins! (The Dragon Rider family had royal bloodlines, after all, intermarriage among nobles was common.) The thorny rose emblem on his chest also indicated his identity.

“It seems we are too late…” Anthony Doss looked sadly at the dead Roland.

"A brave and holy dragon knight!" Anthony Doss's mount, the Thunder Dragon Kurt, looked at the now-stiff Roland with awe! Every dragon knight who fell in battle lived up to the name of a hero.

"Where is his dragon?" Kurt suddenly remembered that Roland's dragon was not with him.

"They probably escaped..." Doss looked at the horrific battlefield.

"Impossible! Dragons would never abandon their knights to escape! This is a desecration of the Dragon Knight Pact! It is a betrayal of the Dragon God!" Kurt roared like a cat with its fur standing on end.

"Yes, yes, yes! It was my fault!" Doss didn't argue with him.

“Since we’ve met him… let’s bury him! This is the only thing I can do for him!” Doss sighed, drew his longsword, propped it on the ground, knelt on one knee, and placed his right hand on his chest in a complex and elegant noble gesture.

"Rest in peace, knight! If I ever meet your killer, I will avenge you!" Dos closed his eyes carefully and sensed the battle energy left in Roland's body by Doctor and Langdo.

“Heh! Two shady bastards!” Doss said sadly.

“It was a sacrifice… his blood has been burned out!” Kurt brought Roland’s severed arm. The withered body, devoid of any energy, made it easy to guess what Roland had gone through before his death.

"Alas... Bury him...!" Doss was stunned before he could finish speaking.

"What's wrong?" Kurt was taken aback. He and Doss had met at the far north, and he clearly didn't understand why his knight was staring blankly at the corpse of another dragon knight. (Based on memories granted by the system, Kurt was not a dragon from Dragon Island.)

"..." Doss didn't care about offending the corpse. He quickly brushed away the fallen leaves on Roland's body to reveal the complete design of the Grand Duke's Dragon Armor on his chest, with a flying dragon clearly visible on it.

"Thump!" Doss collapsed to the ground, rubbing his eyes in disbelief. "What's wrong?" Kurt's dragon power surged, clearly thinking his knight had discovered something amiss.

"It's...it's...him!...He is...the...Elector...of the Empire!!!" Doss cried out in agony, pointing frantically at the emblem on Roland's chest.

"Ah!" Devastated, Dos collapsed onto Roland's body, weeping uncontrollably. He never imagined that the dragon's battle aura he had sensed was the final battle of an Elector of the Empire! If only he had arrived sooner…

"Who! Who! Who dares to kill the Elector of the Empire!" Dos roared, his eyes bloodshot and his sword drawn in a frenzy.

"Calm down! Have you forgotten that you told me your empire has fallen? We're here to find your sister! What Elector?" Kurt grabbed the somewhat deranged Doss and questioned him.

"That's right! It's the Grand Duke's Dragon Armor! It's the emblem of the King of Romanian... the last of the royal blood... Waaah! He's the king!" Dos broke down in tears. The emblem on Roland's chest, the dragon armor on his body, and the crown on his helmet had pointed Dos to a terrible truth... This was the king his sister had gone to find and follow! The hope for the empire's revival!

"..." Kurt was stunned. The King? What kind of legitimate king would die alone out there? (Bahrain: I sensed my rudeness, and it was full of malice...) Where are the King's personal guards? Where did they all go?
Thinking of this, Kurt ignored Doss, who was still crying bitterly, and simply flapped his wings and took off, surveying the sky as if searching for something.

“Unfortunately! It seems this king is alone! I found no other signs of battle!” Kurt said to Doss after landing.

"..." Doss, kneeling on the ground, was lost in thought, staring blankly at Roland's corpse.

"Aren't you looking for your sister? Is she loyal to this king?" Kurt asked, puzzled.

“Yes, she said that Lagrange has been re-established, and she is going to restore the glory of the Anthony family…” Doss sobbed, clearly finding Roland’s death hard to accept.

“There might be something wrong with this!” Kurt said after a moment’s thought.

“How could a king, who was also a dragon knight, be killed alone in the wild? This is the Misty Mountains, right? There seems to be no trace of a human kingdom here! And his dragon is not by his side... Could this be a conspiracy…” Kurt was a young dragon, and his two thousand years of lifespan had given him a wealth of knowledge, including some understanding of political intrigue.

"Impossible..." Doss stopped crying and began to consider the possibility of what Kurt said, but he quickly shook his head. After all, there was very little royal blood left, and there were hardly any of the Grand Dukes' bloodlines left, let alone those with the bloodline of the Electors!

“Impossible! He is the Elector!” Doss shook his head decisively and said to Kurt.

"Elector?" Kurt was taken aback, clearly not very familiar with human titles.

"They are the rightful heirs to the throne! They are usually called electors!" Dos explained simply. In fact, the true meaning of electors refers to the kings who are eligible to be elected when the royal bloodline is cut off and a new emperor is elected. The kings of the Romanian royal family were obviously the highest-ranking electors, so the Romanian kings were also called great electors!
“We don’t know what happened right now. Perhaps your country has fallen into civil war… We must consider the worst-case scenario… Let’s go find your sister and find out what’s going on!” Kurt shook his head. He knew the darkness of human nature and how unpredictable people were! No one knew whether someone had plotted to murder the king.

Roland probably never imagined that even after he was dead, people would still suspect that his death was a conspiracy... In reality, it was just a careless attack by some reckless rookie dragon knight.

"Wait until I bring His Highness's body!" Doss's gaze sharpened, and he nodded to his dragon, clearly intending to investigate to the end!
