Chapter 56 Battle of Lagrange Plains
Chapter 56 Battle of Lagrange Plains (1)
The plain between the Red River and the Swift River was originally a desolate wasteland, but it was soon named the Lagrange Plain. A small hill in this plain was named the Lagrange Hill in honor of the Battle of the Lagrange Plain, a turning point that changed the course of the war in northern Middle-earth.
At this moment, Roland was still in shock from his unexpected encounter with the orcs. After looking around, he immediately took a liking to the small hill.
"All infantry, quickly occupy that hill! You all obey Verway's orders! Caslo, you're in charge of taking out the orc ranged units! Knights, follow me!" Roland raised his steel lance and broke away from the ranks.
“Wait a minute…” Verway was completely dumbfounded. He had never commanded an army of nearly a thousand men before, and he stood there stunned.
"Believe in yourself! Just like you believe in the sword in your hand!" Roland interrupted him, casually tossing a spatial ring to Valverde.
"There are 10 arrows here! Don't hold back! Shoot them all!"
The knights of the Holy Light Knights rode up to his side and surrounded him, their crimson battle flames merging into one, and the Ring of Glory on Roland's hand shone with a dazzling light.
"Form ranks! Arrowhead formation!" Roland shouted.
The sound of horses' hooves clattered on the ground, and soon the knights formed a charging formation with Roland and Reno as the vanguard.
Here, a group of peasant infantrymen successfully climbed the mound. Looking out, they saw an endless horde of orcs rushing towards them, seemingly on a rapid march.
First to form ranks were the Dovenian heavy swordsmen, who slammed their steel tower shields into the ground and unleashed the Shield Wall skill. Battanian archers followed behind, unpacking their quivers and placing them at their legs. Valverde and the elven rangers followed closely behind. Valverde immediately drew all his arrows from his ring and piled them in the center. The largest contingent, light infantry, armed with wooden tower shields, formed two ranks guarding the flanks, while the other light infantry drew their bows, ready to fire. The Lagrange City Guards raised their shields to protect the rear, and a massive circular shield wall instantly rose atop the hill.
……
"My lord, we have spotted a human army ahead!" an orc hurriedly reported.
"Ugh! It seems our whereabouts have indeed been leaked!" O'Neill said angrily.
He spurred his dire wolf to the front of the column, and the orcs trembled in fear. O'Neill paid no attention to these incompetent orcs, but instead carefully observed the human army blocking his path.
"Over a thousand people? Which human high lord sent this reinforcement?" Onavil became curious. These people looked well-equipped, and if he didn't handle them well, he would definitely suffer heavy losses. He only had more than 7000 orcs under his command, which were all the resources he had painstakingly accumulated. But when he thought of Sauron's promise, all his concerns were immediately thrown to the winds.
"I smell fear!" O'Neill roared as he rallied his men.
"Take their heads! Deliver the victory to me!" O'Neill pointed his warhammer.
The earth trembled instantly. The charge launched by more than 7000 orcs was visually devastating! Although they were just the worst-equipped orcs in the wasteland, once their numbers reached a certain threshold, quantitative change would lead to qualitative change.
"Roar!" An angry dragon roar resounded as Caslo, who had been waiting in the clouds for a long time, rode Kaldo and swooped down.
Just now, when the orcs charged, the orc archers were clearly separated from the troops in front, with nearly 2000 orcs carrying various kinds of bows and arrows hanging behind the main force.
"Swoosh~" Dozens of pillars of blood shot into the sky and suddenly appeared. The archers, who were standing in close formation, were simply the best live targets for the air knights.
"Roar!" A breath of wind elemental blades was unleashed by the dragon. After flying for a few seconds, the wind element, freed from the dragon's power, exploded, scattering hundreds of tiny wind blades in all directions. They pierced flesh! They tore through steel armor! They ripped through muscle! They destroyed weapons!
"Damn it! Sauron, you didn't say they had dragons!" Onavil roared angrily.
"Whoosh!" A huge cyan wind blade swept past his head in an instant. O'Navel quickly ducked to avoid the wind blade that almost beheaded him, but the banner behind him was not so lucky and immediately flipped over, falling straight down.
"Bring me the bow!" Seeing the dragon sweep past him several meters above his head, the enraged Onavil had clearly lost his mind.
He held a massive iron bow in his hand, nocked an enchanted armor-piercing arrow, and slowly drew back the bowstring...
"Bang!" A crisp sound!
"Roar!" The four-legged dragon Kaldor, which was flying hundreds of meters in the air, suddenly spun around and crashed to the ground. "This is impossible!" Roland happened to witness this scene.
In fact, Onavel was half elven; his mother was an elf who had been abducted. You could say he was an unusual half-elf, which was evident in his appearance. Unlike other orcs who had bared their teeth, he had a softer appearance and was much more pleasing to the eye than other orcs.
His elven bloodline endowed him with exceptional eyesight and archery skills, which, combined with an iron bow and enchanted armor-piercing arrows, enabled him to create the scene described above.
"Roar!" The angry dragon roar resounded through the sky! Just as he was about to crash to the ground, Kaldor successfully adjusted his posture and, enduring the excruciating pain, flew back into the sky.
"Phew!" Roland breathed a sigh of relief. He thought the scene of the dragon knights bleeding in the sky in his memory was about to reappear. Fortunately, thanks to the thick dragon armor, the arrow failed to penetrate his vital organs.
"Die, you scum!" The dragon's voice rang out, and a huge blue tornado covered the spot where Onavel had just stood, throwing the orcs into chaos!
"For the glory of knights! Charge!" Roland led the knights into a trot, the crisp sound of their hooves even drowning out the orcs' wails.
"Boom boom boom!" Soon the sound of horses' hooves grew louder, and the sound gradually rolled into our ears like thunder.
"glory!"
"mercy!"
"justice!"
"loyalty!"
"Compassion!"
"guard!"
"brave!"
"humble!"
One by one, skills representing the spirit of chivalry were unleashed, and the morale of the knights rose rapidly. Battle flames covered the knights' armor and warhorses, and the 102 knights, as one, bravely charged towards the panicked orcs.
"For home!"
"For the people!"
"For Lagrange!"
Amidst the shouts of the knights, the orcs in front sensed a deadly threat and immediately halted their advance. A chaotic mass of orcs huddled together, unaware that they were providing the perfect conditions for the charging knights.
"Knights!"
"The Knights of Humanity!"
To the disbelief of the orcs, Roland led the knights of the Holy Knights and slammed them into the orc ranks.
"kill!"
