Chapter 480 The Lion of Lagrange Never Left
"Form ranks! Form ranks! We are heavy infantry! Don't forget we are heavy infantry! They are just a bunch of beasts! Form ranks! Kill them!" Olaf and the other officers led their soldiers to form a circular formation while vigorously swinging their halberds to kill the demonic spiders in front of them.
Fortunately, they had a steel round shield that could slightly block the spider's claws, and the spider had no ranged attack capabilities, otherwise these brave warriors who could be easily shot down by archers would have been truly doomed.
"Cut off their legs!" Olaf swung his halberd, severing a spider's leg in one strike. Yellow sap spurted out instantly. Ignoring the disgust, Olaf swung his halberd again, the heavy blade carrying immense force plunging into the spider's head. As the spider's limbs twitched a few times, the life force in its eyes slowly faded...
"Damn it!" Olaf had just killed a Dark Spider and hadn't even pulled his halberd from its corpse when he was pounced on by the spider from the side and knocked to the ground.
"Ah!" A piercing scream rang out as Olaf, desperately trying to block the spider's gaping maw, caught a glimpse of the Valiant Warriors' formation collapsing out of the corner of his eye...
When more than a dozen giant demonic spiders continuously surged out from both flanks, the fate of these infantrymen, who lacked ranged abilities, was already sealed.
"Gather together! Gather together! Fight back together! Don't get separated!" Some officers were organizing the remaining soldiers who hadn't been caught up in the fight to try to regroup.
"Damn it!" Olaf cursed as he stared at the mandibles opening and closing in front of him, dodging the sharp feet poking at his head. Although he was wearing an iron-clad helmet, Olaf had no intention of testing its sturdiness.
"Squeak squeak squeak!" Olaf swung his sword with all his might from his waist, and after a flash of cold light, the spider that had overwhelmed Olaf let out a shrill roar.
Olaf successfully pulled out a dagger from his waist and slashed the spider's mouthparts. Enraged and in pain, the spider bared its fangs and claws, attempting to attack Olaf.
"Scream! Scream! Scream!" Covered in mud, Olaf, driven by rage, gripped his dagger and began stabbing the spider repeatedly.
"Scream! You bark like a dog! Sneak attack! Sneak attack! I'll teach you to be a nobody! Who the hell do you think you are!" Olaf stabbed and punched the spider's head with all his might.
"Get lost!" With a straight punch, he sent the spider flying backward. Seeing the spider trying to flip over by tumbling its legs, Olaf descended from the sky with his hands gripping a dagger.
……
"Huff, huff, huff!" Olaf slowly stood up. His helmet had long since fallen off, and his messy hair clung to his face with sweat. He stumbled as he searched for his halberd, only to hear the shouts and screams of his comrades all around him.
"Watch out!" someone suddenly pointed behind Olaf, who was still stumbling forward in a daze, completely unaware of the sharp feet approaching from behind.
"Boom!" A lance imbued with golden-red battle aura suddenly grazed past Olaf's back, kicking up a cloud of dust.
Olaf then belatedly turned his head to look, only to find that Apophis Breo had stabbed the Dark Spider, who was already within arm's reach, to death with a single thrust of his spear.
"Olav, are your eyes in your crotch?" Apophis Breo glared at Olaf through gritted teeth. If he had arrived any later, Olaf's head would have been twisted off by the spider.
"Kill!" Apophis Breo roared, his eyes gleaming with ferocity as he stared at the spiders that had already broken into the crowd. However, what reassured Apophis Breo somewhat was that the spiders had not yet caused any casualties among his soldiers. Thanks to the excellent training and high morale of the King's Family, although the soldiers were thrown into disarray during melee combat, they still engaged the enemy in a chaotic battle without fleeing. The spiders, surrounded by enemies, were unable to effectively kill these pseudo-iron cans. "Help!" A warrior was dragged away by the spider silk. He desperately grabbed at the tree roots on the ground to prevent himself from being dragged away, while kicking and struggling to break free of his bound feet. But the supple spider silk did not break no matter how hard he struggled.
"Ah!" A warrior in full armor swung his Star Silver Steel halberd with all his might, and with a whoosh, the spider silk was cut in two by the halberd.
Two armored soldiers quickly pulled him back, and the still-shaken warrior slumped down in the crowd, trembling.
"Kill!" Another group of warriors unleashed their bloodthirsty fighting spirit. They carried the stabbing stingers of the spider's sharp legs and, even with their blood dripping, fiercely wielded their halberds to surround a dark spider and attack it relentlessly. Seven or eight halberds flashed with a blinding cold light as they slashed at the spider's body. The warriors, covered in blood, fought and clashed with the spider.
"Save them!!!" Apophis Breo roared in anguish. Although no soldiers had fallen yet, seeing the blood-soaked and wounded warriors, Apophis Breo still shouted hoarsely, "My men! My few private soldiers! The two hundred of my best soldiers that I finally recruited, risking having my head chopped off by King Roland! How dare you!"
"The Lion Family!" Apophis Breo's knights exchanged glances and roared in unison.
Terrifying battle aura surged from their backs, and a ferocious, roaring lion formed from the battle aura appeared behind them. A golden-red battle aura covered their bodies and even their warhorses.
"Boom!" The heavy hoof struck the ground, blasting dirt into the air.
"The Lion of Lagrange has never left! The King's Landing family is not yet extinct! I, the Grand Duke of the Lion, the Duke of King's Landing, will stand with you! Lions of Lagrange! Charge with me!" Apophis Breo roared, his body ablaze with fire, and the pacing lion on his chest emblem seemed to come alive.
"Roar!" The voices emanating from all the knights were no longer human voices, but the roars of lions!
"Boom!" Countless phantom lions appeared behind them, and phantoms of riders galloping around them accompanied them. A dozen or so knights actually created the momentum of a charge of tens of thousands of knights.
"Crack!" A towering ancient tree was snapped in half by a phantom lion, and a golden-red flame instantly rose from the broken end.
"Sizzle!" A demonic spider that couldn't dodge in time was sliced in two by a charging knight phantom, and the entire spider emitted a nauseating burnt smell.
“This is…” Olaf knelt down with a thud. These soldiers were recruited from the refugee wave that followed Apophis Breo to this place. The system originally gave them the identity of subjects of the Duke of King’s Landing.
"The heroic spirits of the Knights of the Kingdom throughout the ages!" Apophis Breo, who charged alongside them, was also deeply moved.
So it turns out... the lions of Lagrange really didn't leave; they never went far.
