Chapter 48 Lord of the Stars
Chapter 48 Lord of the Stars
"Your Highness, this..." Renault looked at the barrier in front of him with some surprise as a portal suddenly opened up, with starlight shining brightly inside, as if he were in the starry sky under the night sky.
“That’s it. Let’s go in and see the legendary Star Spirits!” Roland said calmly, sheathing his sword.
"Yes." Renault then sheathed the dragon-patterned sword back into place.
"call out!"
"Be careful, Your Highness!"
"Clang!" Renault cleaved the incoming arrow with his sword.
Unexpectedly, the two were met with a “warm welcome” from the Star Elves as soon as they stepped into the land of Singari.
"Who are you? Why are you allowed here?" the Star Elf asked coldly, his longbow pointing at the two of them.
Roland carefully examined the Star Elf in front of him and found that they were indeed different. They were both incredibly handsome with pale skin, and most strikingly, they had long, sky-blue hair. The elf in front of him looked like a ranger.
"Greetings, esteemed elves. I am King Lagran of the eastern shore of Lake Long. I have come to pay my respects to your king, for I have important matters to discuss." Roland greeted him with a hand on his chest.
"Human King? How do you know the secret code to enter here?" As he spoke, the Star Elf in front of him drew his bow a little further back.
"Inheritance! My ancestors once received help from the Star Elves, and I have come again for our friendship." Roland activated the Battle Flame unique to paladins.
"..." The elf carefully observed Roland's battle aura, and finally put down his bow and arrow. He reached out and pulled out a magic signal flare. Instantly, a golden star shot into the sky a hundred meters high and then enlarged and flashed.
"Wait here, someone will come to pick you up soon!"
……
"What's going on?" A unique Star Elf led a group of Elf Rangers over. Why was he unique? Because unlike other elves who wore light half-body armor, he wore heavy plate armor.
"Dragon Knight!" Renault whispered nervously, his hand quietly resting on the hilt of the Dragon-Patterned Sword. If things went wrong, he would risk his life to escort his king away.
As a paladin who rules the earth, Roland was naturally very familiar with the dragon knights who rule the sky. The powerful dragon energy surged on his body, and he practically had the words "dragon knight" written on his face.
"Why is the secret door open? Huh? A human?" After casually closing the secret door, the dragon knight noticed the human in front of him.
"..." Roland's lips twitched. Was he really that insignificant?
"Damn it!" Renault's pupils contracted as the secret door behind him closed, leaving him with no way out. He unconsciously drew his sword.
"Huh? Interesting! Even a fourth-tier paladin commander dares to draw his sword in front of me!" the dragon knight said with interest.
"Heh, fearless in heart, shining brightly upon heaven and earth! To stand shoulder to shoulder with gods with a mortal body! A paladin is fearless!" Renault murmured, drawing his sword to block Roland's path.
"Interesting. How long has it been since humanity has produced such a pure paladin?" The dragon knight pondered, head bowed.
"Could this be Peter Gro, the Star Dragon Knight?" Roland wondered to himself. In the game, the Star Dragon and his knight were already very old, but the one in the game must be Peter Gro from thousands of years ago.
"Why have you come here?" Peter Gro sized up the two men. Those who could become paladins were all people with a sense of justice, unless they had fallen into depravity.
“The north is shrouded in darkness, and the dwarves, elves, and humans are in grave danger!” Roland said gravely after a moment’s thought.
"Who are you?" Peter Groh couldn't help but wonder about Roland's identity. Judging from the way Renault had stood in front of Roland just now, it meant that Roland was the one in charge between the two.
"King Lagrange!" Roland exclaimed proudly.
“Lagrange? Does such a country exist?” Peter Gross thought for a long time but couldn’t remember. Although Singray was isolated from the world, they would always send a small group of people to various places to buy all kinds of things to enrich their lives, so they were not out of touch with the world.
“She has been gone for a long time, we come from the East…” Roland said succinctly. “Oh.” Peter Gros nodded, after all, he hadn’t paid much attention to the ancient country of the East.
“Come with me! I’ll take you to see the king.” Peter Groh decided to take them to see their Elf King.
"Let me introduce myself. My name is Peter Gro, a Star Dragon Knight," Peter Gro said as he led the way.
"Yes, Sir Peter Gross." Roland and the other man greeted him.
"Come on!" After passing through a cozy treehouse, Peter Gro led the two to a magnificent elven building. Inside the huge elven hall, a slender figure leaned against the armrest and reclined on a throne inlaid with various gems, swirling a wine glass in his hand.
"What's going on, Peter? Why did you bring two humans back?" the Lonely King asked softly.
“Ivy, they’ve come for help,” Peter Gro said casually.
"A request for help?" Iovia put down her wine glass and sat up.
“Yes, Your Highness the Elf King. Darkness has enveloped the north, and we have mobilized all our forces but are still no match for it. Therefore, I have come here to seek the help of the Star Elves, according to the legacy of my ancestors,” Roland said humbly.
"So there are still people who remember us?" Iovia rubbed her chin.
"Where do you come from?" Iovia asked curiously, wanting to know where people from that place would remember the reclusive Star Elves.
"I am Roland, the current King of Lagrange, and this is my Knight Commander Reno." Roland straightened his back, demonstrating that Lagrange's strength allowed him to easily control these Star Elves.
"Greetings, Your Highness Roland. Excuse me, please have a seat." Iovia stood up, gave an elegant bow, and then seated the two of them in the seats next to her.
"Clap clap!" He clapped his hands lightly, and immediately several beautiful elven women came over and offered him fruits and drinks.
"Please, try some of the specialty fruits of our Star Elves," Iovia said with a smile.
“You can call me Iovia. I am the current king of the Star Elves,” Iovia said solemnly.
"Sauron has returned with renewed force, and now his army threatens the entire north! I need your help! The Star Elves are the last reinforcements for the north," Roland said impatiently.
“I’m sorry, I’m afraid you don’t know much about the past of the Star Elves… We have been in seclusion for over three thousand years, and my people have become accustomed to a peaceful life. We may not be able to participate in this war.” Iovia said apologetically.
"Could it be that the heavy losses you suffered back then have made you forget your hatred for Sauron?" Roland was, of course, familiar with the Star Elves' past.
In the final battle of the alliance, in addition to the allied forces led by Gil-Gallad, three other independent armies also participated in the battle: the Woodland Elves led by Thranduil's father, the Goldshire Elves, and the Vanya Elves who lived in Rovanion at the time. The three armies marched on different routes but met the same result—heavy losses.
The Vanya elves, nearly wiped out under the Black Gate, retreated with their people back to what is now the Dark Forest and migrated north. Fortunately, one of them gained the friendship of a wandering Star Dragon cub. This was Peter Gro, who became a dragon knight and followed Iovia's father, Inas, all the way north. Along the way, no orc army dared to provoke this desperate elven army...
Finally, when they arrived in Rovanian, the mortally wounded Elf King Inas passed away. Iovia inherited the kingdom. Extremely disappointed with the Vanya elves, Iovia changed their faith, no longer worshipping the goddess of nature, but instead worshipping the goddess of the stars. From then on, they called themselves the Lords of the Stars. Their long, ice-blue hair covered their golden hair, and they became elves bathed in the stars in the dark night.
They are in darkness, but their hearts are toward the light!
Under the immense dragon power and magic of the Star Dragon, they created the Star Barrier, opened up a secret realm, and lived in seclusion thereafter. This secret realm was called Singri, and from then on, the world had one more elf race that worshipped the stars.
"Heh, we were once passionate, we gave our all, we sacrificed... but in the end, it was all betrayal!" Iovia still harbored resentment towards the allied forces for ignoring the three elven groups that had launched a fierce attack on the Black Gate, and was also furious that the woodland elves hadn't offered them any help. (Back then, the three elven groups were employing a piecemeal tactic, attacking the city one by one when they were already outnumbered.)
“Your Highness Iovia, I hope you understand the principle of ‘if the lips are gone, the teeth will be cold.’ If Lonely Mountain and Long Lake are breached and the Woodland Kingdom ceases to exist, then Singrey will be found by Sauron sooner or later!” Roland said solemnly.
"It's no use, we can't help you. We no longer have the capacity to fight another war." Iovia waved her hand and sighed.
