Chapter 474 Practical Training
"Go check if Caslo is awake yet. If he is, have him come see me." Roland rubbed his forehead, feeling a headache coming on.
"Yes!" The guard accepted the order and left.
……
"Your Highness, Lord Caslo has gone out..." the guard hurriedly returned to report.
"Huh?" Roland was completely bewildered. Roland knew his loyal lackey all too well; besides following him around, all that guy did was hang around Ajax. Where could he go by himself?
“Go find Ajax, that guy is definitely flirting with that girl!” Roland chuckled.
……
"What? He's not here yet? Where could he have gone?" Roland asked, his face full of questions.
At this moment, Roland's number one lackey, Caslo, was riding on the back of a dragon, with several little tails following behind him—the griffin riders led by Holin.
"Pay attention! The most important thing in aerial combat is altitude! As long as you have altitude, don't give up! As long as you have altitude, anything is possible!" Caslo shouted, using his dragon power to create a shield against the howling wind.
This was tough on the griffin riders behind them. Since they were already of low rank, in order to keep up with the speed of the dragon's flight (although Caslo had already asked Kaldo to slow it down), they could only try their best to activate their battle aura to cover their entire bodies and then cling tightly to the griffin's back to reduce wind resistance.
"Stop! Let me demonstrate the most common attack method in aerial combat—the Sparrow Hunting Trail! Although it's just a combat technique, it's much more practical in aerial combat than most fancy skills!" Caslo hovered above them on his Storm Dragon.
The powerful dragon's might caused the griffins to lower their heads, displaying a submissive and obsequious demeanor. Clearly, the highly intelligent griffins understood that five juvenile griffins were not qualified to show their claws before the dragon. There were griffins capable of fighting against dragons, but that required an entire intact clan, such as... the one in the Gray Mountains!
As apex predators, dragons and griffins are magical beasts standing at the top of the food chain, and both have genes that admire strength. For example, the eyes of these five little guys looking at Kaldor are sparkling little stars.
"Whoosh~ Bang!" The dragon flapped its wings violently, and with the support of wind-elemental dragon power, Kaldor took off at a terrifying speed. A Mach ring even appeared around its tail. Then, a sonic boom rang out, shaking the griffin riders to the side.
"Whoosh whoosh whoosh!" The massive dragon body leaped and twisted in the air; it was hard to imagine that a dragon could perform such graceful maneuvers.
What Hollin and the others saw was a completely different scene. After putting themselves in Caslo's opponent's position, they were horrified to find that they were completely unable to escape the attack range under such maneuverability. Even their change of direction was locked by Caslo's spear, which meant that once they were caught in this attack, there would be no chance of survival.
"Did you understand?" Caslo flew back and asked lazily. After all, drunk driving is still very dangerous, and it's easy to crash a plane if you're not careful.
"Mmm-hmm-hmm-hmm..." Several people shook their heads repeatedly. Their minds: I understand, all you need are hands! Their hands: You damn well better not come any closer!
“Uh…it seems this combat technique is still too advanced for you newbies…” Caslo was taken aback and realized that he might have overestimated these novice air knights.
"Fine, I'll find some easy opponents for you guys to practice on!" Caslo shook his head helplessly, pondering what kind of opponent he should find for them that could put pressure on them without hurting them.
"Emmm..." Caslo flew ahead on his dragon, followed by five eager griffin riders. The dragon's overwhelming aura kept the griffins firmly at a safe distance. Caslo glanced helplessly at the griffins, who were hovering a mile away, hesitant to approach, and shook his head. Even with the dragon withdrawing its pressure, its terrifying dragon might still kept them at a distance.
"Huh?" Caslo narrowed his eyes and activated his Dragon Eye! Instantly, the scene dozens of miles away came into clear view.
"Come on! I've found you a good practice partner! You can finally see some blood!" Caslo's eyes lit up as he called out loudly.
"Boom!" Kaldo flapped his wings and shot off. Hollin and his comrades exchanged glances and could only tighten the reins and follow closely behind.
……
“Look! Look at the big guys below. Although they’re big, you can still practice your skills and see some blood. It’s a good opportunity to practice your teamwork!” Caslo pointed to the magical beasts below, which were terrified by the dragon’s might.
Hollin and the others curiously turned their heads to take a look, and wow! Good heavens, is this thing really something they can handle?
"Lord Caslo, if you want our lives, you don't need to go through all this trouble..." Hollin grinned, his eyes filled with shock.
"This is nothing! This big guy is perfect for you to practice on! You see, although it's big, it can only attack in the air with its claws!" Caslo said seriously.
"Is this Mountain Devilclaw Beast really something we can handle at this stage?" Hollin's lips twitched.
“Of course, you need to train your understanding with your mounts, and also train their aggression! What’s the difference between a griffin that doesn’t draw blood and a domesticated parrot? Oh right! Griffins can’t mimic human speech!” Caslow said seriously.
"Mountain Terrorclaw Beast, a high-level magical beast, can also become a half-step super magical beast. It has powerful attack and defense capabilities, and its combat power on the ground is comparable to that of a bronze Behemoth. Its disadvantage is that it has no anti-air skills and its air attack power is poor!" Caslo began to introduce it in a serious manner.
"Of course, its lack of aerial attack power is only relative to other half-step super magical beasts. After all, its signature skill, the Fear Claw Strike, has an attack range of over a hundred meters. Also, this is only the adult form, and all its abilities are at their peak!" Caslo seemed to remember something and added.
"..." Everyone was really surprised. Was this really something that a few second-tier griffin knights could practice on? If someone else could kill all five people and the griffins with a single slap, that would be quite a sight.
"Pay attention to your positioning! Don't be greedy for attacks. One hit and you're out is one of the most important principles for air knights! Whether you hit or not, immediately create distance after the attack! Always pay attention to the monster's attack movements and predict its attack direction in time!" Caslo explained.
"Um, do you have anything else, sir?" a griffin rider asked timidly.
"That's all. Remember to maintain your altitude! The rest is up to you. I'll cover for you, but because of the distance, I can't save everyone in time, so try not to make any mistakes! You only have one life!" Caslo said, drawing his dragon spear and flashing it. The griffin riders' eyes widened; putting everything else aside, that move was incredibly cool!
"So, can we kill it?" Hollin asked the question everyone wanted to ask.
"What? You look down on the lances in your hands? You should know that even the strongest creatures can be worn down! Besides, don't underestimate the powerful fighting ability of the griffins you ride!" Caslo smiled mysteriously.
