The Lord of the Rings: Lords of Middle-earth.

Chapter 459 The Beginning of a Legend

"Your Highness! Lord Apophis Breo has requested your assistance!" A cavalryman rushed in, clutching a bloodstained battle report.

"What's going on?" Roland was taking stock of his treasury, considering whether he had prepared enough supplies for his wedding. He was going through everything when a burly man in tattered clothes jumped out and scared him half to death.

"Your Highness!" The cavalryman from Lulong Fortress handed over the battle report.

"What? Orcs have invaded the border? How dare they attack Lulong Fortress?" Roland was speechless at the orcs' stupidity after just one glance.

Roland really didn't understand what gave the orcs the courage to attack a heavily fortified and well-armed fortress, especially since Renault had already returned to guard it.

"Huh? What does this have to do with Apophis? It's not his place to ask for help!" Roland suddenly had a thought and quickly began to carefully read the battle report.

"Damn it! You scoundrels! You've really mastered the art of war! You've learned to pick on the weak, haven't you!" Roland roared.
It turned out that these orcs, who had come to Lulong Fortress to plunder, had unexpectedly stumbled upon Apophis Breo's private army encampment, which was located a dozen miles behind Lulong Fortress.

Because Roland forbade Apophis Breo from stationing his private army in Lulong Fortress, Apophis Breo built a small stockade on a high hill outside Lulong Fortress to house his troops. As a result, the orcs who had been harassing Lulong Fortress were fed a good supply of arrows by the guards and had no choice but to bypass Lulong, which led them to run into Apophis Breo's stockade.

“Go and call Caslo and Ajax, who’s coming?” Roland frowned.

"Yes!" the guard at the door replied.

After a while, a guard ran over and told Roland Ajax and Caslo that they were out on patrol and not there.

“Those Griffin Knights… never mind! I’ll lead the knights myself! Let Omske meet me at the training ground!” Roland patted the Royal Guard guarding the door.

Originally, Roland had planned to let the Griffin Riders make their debut, but after thinking about it, he decided to take charge of the operation himself. After all, the Griffin Riders had not been trained for long enough, and it would be easy for them to suffer losses if they went into battle now.

"By the way, Yunfeng and Caslo are back. Tell them to look for us along the Lulong Fortress line!" Roland instructed Yunfeng.

"Yes, be careful! Grand Duke Nyx is still waiting for you!" Yun Feng said quietly as he walked up.

"Hmm! Don't worry, my life is tough, at least those trashy orcs can't take it!" Roland raised his head.

"..." Yun Feng opened his mouth, wanting to say that Roland had almost been taken away by the trolls and the Dongyi people twice, but in the end he didn't say it and could only silently wish Roland a safe journey.

……

"What's wrong? What happened again?" Omske walked over, looking completely bewildered.

"That kid Apophis Breo is in trouble!" Roland said as he put horse armor on his warhorse.

"Something happened? What could possibly happen to him at Lulong Fortress?" Omske asked, puzzled, as he led his horse.

"The orc provoked the fortress garrison..." Roland mounted his horse.

"Lulong Fortress couldn't stop the orc attack? There are more defenders there than in Swiftstream City!" Omsk was shocked. If Reno and his men couldn't even hold Lulong Fortress, they should just find a hole to bury themselves in; living is a waste of food.

"...Can't you think of something positive? Apophis's private army stronghold is besieged by orcs!" Roland's lips twitched.

"Oh, I see! Then it's alright! No rush!" Upon hearing this, Omsk's previously nimble hands and feet suddenly slowed down, and he even smoothed out the wrinkles in the brocade on the saddle. "Damn it! Hurry up! Come with me to rescue them!" Roland immediately kicked Omsk when he saw his state. Even though they were Apophis Breo's private soldiers, they were still citizens of the Kingdom of Lagrange, and no matter what, they were all people under Roland's rule.

“Oh!” Omske nodded.

……

"My lord!" A valiant warrior carrying a long spear ran over.

"How is the situation?" Apophis Breo asked calmly, leaning on his sword.

"The situation is very good! Those orcs were routed after being charged by the knights once!" The valiant warrior patted his chest.

"Damn it! Is this all the fighting power they have after gathering for so long?" Apophis Breo cursed, his defenses crumbling. He had just called Roland for help, and the orcs had already collapsed. What would King Roland think of him? Would he think he was deliberately showing off? Would he think he was demonstrating his abilities and the strength of his soldiers?

"Order the soldiers to be careful and drive the orcs out of the country! Remember to leave a few squads at the outpost!" Apophis Breo sheathed his sword and turned to leave.

"Yes!" The valiant warrior behind him excitedly pounded his chest and replied.

However, Apophis Breo was unaware that he had overlooked certain questions and had not asked them in detail. If he had questioned them more thoroughly, he would never have given the order to pursue and expel them.

……

"Hey, hey, hey! What did the lord of the decimals say?" A group of people gathered around, chattering and asking the decimal who had just reported to Apophis Breo.

"The lord told us to pursue cautiously! Drive those bastards out of the kingdom's land! But we need to leave some people behind to guard the base!" Captain Olaf said spiritedly. He was also a passionate Lagrangian man, and in the prime of his youth, he naturally longed to make a name for himself. With a wave of his hand, he led his brothers out of the stronghold first. He didn't want to be among the last few to guard the base.

The warriors, having realized what was happening, grabbed their utensils and rushed out. It was on this day that the great and legendary Olaf first showed his true colors!

……

"Team leader, how should we fight?" The nine brave warriors, trapped on a mound, all looked at their leader, Captain Olaf.

"We're surrounded!"

"Those knights kill them like chickens, why are we going through so much trouble?"

"Stop shouting! These orcs have surrounded us. I just sized them up; there are at least a hundred of them!" one of the armored soldiers said seriously.

"Shut up! No one will think you're mute if you don't speak!" Olaf slapped him on the helmet, silencing him from his words.

"Let me think of something! Calm down! You are all the elite of the kingdom! You are the lord's warriors! The king and the lord will not abandon us! We must persevere!" Olaf encouraged them, trying to ignite their fighting spirit! Yes, that's what the lord said.

"What else did the lord say?" Olaf carefully recalled every detail of Apophis Breo, trying to find a way out of the predicament from the wise and ambitious lord's daily teachings.
