The Lord of the Rings: Lords of Middle-earth.

Chapter 450 The Magnified Dark Side

"Be careful and come back soon!" Nyx saw Roland off at the castle gate and waved gently.

"Mmm, give me a kiss!" Roland affectionately pulled Nyx into his arms and gave him a big kiss, leaving a lingering fragrance on his lips and teeth.

"Stop messing around! Hurry up and bring them back. Promise me you won't linger in battle, and you definitely won't charge into the enemy lines!" Nyx's eyes glistened with tears.

"Of course, I promise!" Roland quickly raised his hands in surrender.

"Well, you're smart enough to know your place!" Nyx waved her little fist in a show of defiance, but in Roland's eyes it was no different from whining.

……

"Roland, if you don't give me an explanation, I guarantee I'll beat the crap out of you!" Vervier appeared in front of Roland, carrying Manica on his back.

"Holy crap! Yellow... Waaah!" Verway caught sight of Dos peeking out from Grand Duke Roland's dragon armor and was about to scream when Omsk quickly covered his mouth.

"Excuse me, Your Highness, please be quiet!" Omske frowned and whispered, then released his grip.

"Sorry, I got too excited, Roland, you're crazy! Do you know what you're doing?" Verway's eyes were full of shock. If the circumstances hadn't prevented it, he would have even wanted to run away or pretend he hadn't seen Doss's thing.

"Keep your voice down, this was an accident!" Roland shook his head imperceptibly.

"I'm keeping it down! If this gets out, it won't just be an accident, it'll really be an accident!" Verway's eyes were filled with fear.

"It's just Dragon Island!" Roland, though also a coward, still pretended to be nonchalant.

"Dragon Island, my goddess of nature... Why don't you declare war on the gods? At least divine punishment will kill you faster than the wrath of the dragons!" Verway was speechless.

"Alright, all I can tell you is that this was an accident, and knowing too much won't do you any good," Roland said apologetically.

"Of course! I don't know anything, I didn't see anything! I just ran into you while I was out for a walk today!" Verway insisted.

“Of course!” Roland praised Verway for his sensible approach.

“Alright, tell me, why were you summoned here? I was very happy living with the centaurs.” Verway sighed.

“A troop of the Swan Knights of Gondor is besieged in the Iron Hills. I need your help! After all, you are better at mountain warfare than we are!” Roland said solemnly.

"Wait a minute! The Iron Hills Kingdom has been destroyed?" Verway was shocked as if he were seeing this world for the first time. How come there was one less dwarf kingdom after he had gone into seclusion for a few chapters?
"Come on, be normal! Dain led the Iron Hills army to fight in Moria. The Iron Hills are now a ghost town, and the dwarves can't help! I reckon the Iron Hills' iron gates are all closed!" Roland shook his head.

"So why are you pulling me out? I'm not one of your soldiers!" Verway shrugged.

“The lord of the Swan Knights has elven blood…and the Swan Knights themselves have some elven blood (after all, they are descendants of the Kingdom of Arnor). Shouldn’t you help your fellow countrymen?” Roland shrugged. In fact, Gondor had a close relationship with the elves. “Sigh, I’m doing all this work for free again!” Now that things had come to this point, Roland even shamelessly brought up his ancestors, leaving Verway feeling utterly ashamed.

"Let's go! Find me a horse. You're not going to make me run there, are you?" Verway looked around and, seeing no extra horses, stared at Roland in horror. Was this guy completely inhuman?
"Sigh, go to the city and bring him a horse!" Roland waved his hand and said to his knights. Soon someone went to carry out the matter. These were trivial matters that Roland didn't need to handle personally.

"Aren't you in a hurry?" Verway asked, puzzled, looking at the leisurely Roland. Shouldn't they be rushing things in such an urgent situation? Why is Roland waiting so leisurely?

"More than twenty qualified Swan Riders went into the ravine. Unless the commander is mentally ill, I can't understand how they could possibly get into trouble. Don't say I look down on the tankers, but against opponents like the last one, we'd kill as many as they came!" Roland's eyes were full of ferocity.

"Is that a matter of combat strength? Have you forgotten how you tricked those tankers into acting like mad dogs and losing their minds last time?" Verway almost cursed Roland's character. No, no need to curse! These damned rulers should all be hung on crooked trees.

"...Could we please not bring that up?" Roland glanced helplessly at Verway. It was rather awkward that Verway had brought up such a shameful matter.

"I hope you won't resort to such cruel methods this time." Verway mounted his warhorse, his eyes flashing.

"I hope so... but I will stop at nothing to achieve victory!" Roland let out a long sigh.

……

"By the way, how did you finally resolve the situation with that girl?" Seeing that the conversation had fallen silent, Verway could only try to make small talk.

"I had her buried nearby, but I also had Ajax sew her body back together. Death takes its course, and leaving her with a complete body is the greatest respect I can offer." Roland shook his head. Slaughter is the best way to extinguish humanity. Roland didn't know when he had started to accept killing! Before, when he killed orcs, he could convince himself by saying they were bastards and not human, but when facing these living, breathing humans, the Chariot People, he actually felt a bloodthirsty urge to kill. This made Roland break out in a cold sweat.

"This killing intent... can't you control your own heart?" Verway, who was walking side by side with Roland, changed his expression drastically. The undisguised bloodlust made even the Sharma beneath him feel uneasy.

"It's nothing, just the killing intent left over from the battlefield." Roland shook his head, not caring.

"That's the killing intent of a ghost! What the hell are you wearing?" Verway's eye twitched, and he finally noticed that there was something wrong with the material of Roland's armor.

"Armor made from dragon materials...this thing will amplify your dark desires, such as savagery and bloodlust, infinitely..." Verway murmured.

"..." Roland fell silent. No wonder the critical hit and attack speed effects from the Grand Duke's Dragon Armor in the game didn't manifest in reality; it turned out to be transformed into this characteristic! Amplifying Bloodlust and other effects are just ways to increase critical hit and attack speed!

"Then I'll throw it away?" Roland was clearly taken aback. He didn't want to become like the kings below the mountain, bewitched by the Arkenstone and losing his true nature. (By the way, what are the effects of the Arkenstone? Roland admitted he hadn't really paid attention, but as a national treasure of the dwarves, it must have some magical effects!)
"No need. This thing is perfect for testing your willpower. If you use it well, it's like you can activate your own berserk mode anytime, anywhere. If you don't use it well... well, Thorin's grandfather is your cautionary tale!" Verway said calmly.

"..." Roland expressed his dilemma.

I took my driving test today, so I was on hiatus for two days. Updates will resume soon.
