Chapter 419 Dragon and Eagle Dance
Chapter 419 Dragon and Eagle Dance
Several days passed quietly, and Roland returned to a peaceful life. However, the cold front sweeping in from the north gave Roland a jolt, making him realize that winter had arrived!
"Hiss!" In the early morning, Roland impulsively pushed open the window, and instantly regretted his decision. Bare-chested, he felt a chill run down his spine and almost saw his great-grandmother waving at him.
"Ah! What are you doing?" Nyx pulled the blanket tighter around himself, glaring fiercely at Roland. The angry flames in his eyes were like those of a raging mother dragon, almost burning Roland to ashes.
"Ahem!" Roland coughed awkwardly, his eyes darting around, realizing he'd gotten himself into trouble because of his own impulsive actions...
"Annoying..." Nyx muttered in dissatisfaction, then rolled up the blanket and curled up, inadvertently exposing her smooth, jade-like back to Roland.
Roland's mouth watered at the sight of her jade-like back, which was as white as mutton fat. He couldn't resist and slipped into the bed...
"Knock knock knock!" A knock on the door instantly calmed Roland, who was about to make his move. Roland suppressed his urge to kill, quickly put on his clothes, and pushed open the door.
"You'd better give me an explanation!" Roland said to his personal maid, who was named Sweet Potato, and another maid named Lilac. Both of them were very pretty (Roland changed their names because he found the names of the commoners' hammers and sickles awkward). However, Roland had no intention of appreciating beauty at the moment. He was furious that his important matter of continuing the family line had been interrupted.
"Your Highness, our soldiers have discovered something amiss with the dwarven dragonhawk knights! So they sent me here specifically to report this!" Red Sweet Potato trembled all over. Of course, she had noticed that Roland was in a rage, and provoking him now would be tantamount to courting death.
"Dragonhawks? What is Thorin up to?" Roland raised an eyebrow, still remembering how those dragonhawk knights used to swagger through the area.
"Let them die!" Roland, in a fit of rage, waved his hand, shooing away the sweet potatoes like flies, and then flicked them away forcefully.
"Bang!" Hongshao looked at the heavily closed door in front of her with some grievance. If she hadn't retreated quickly, the thick wooden door would have slammed into her face.
……
Roland had barely gotten into bed a few seconds when Nyx, panting softly, propped herself up and turned to look at Roland: "What's wrong? What happened?"
Seeing Nyx's worried expression, Roland snorted irritably and didn't reply.
Nyx leaned against Roland and began to coax the little tantrum-throwing Roland: "Okay, don't be angry. Go and see what's going on. It's okay, Yunfeng and the others won't look for you."
Nyx gently comforted him, understanding just how much Roland was suffering.
"Sigh..." Roland gave a wry smile, and reluctantly started getting dressed under Nyx's urging, if he didn't mind Nyx's restless hands that kept groping him...
……
"How's the situation?" Roland, nearly turning into a pufferfish with rage, finally appeared before them, albeit slowly. His Highness Yunfeng, who had initially planned to engage in a verbal battle with Roland, immediately quieted down upon seeing Roland's face, which was as black as the bottom of a pot. The atmosphere instantly became peaceful. "The dwarven dragonhawk knights have been dispatched! Ten dragonhawk knights!" Yunfeng reported.
"The source of the information?" Roland asked succinctly.
“Our roaming scout cavalry discovered it,” Yun Feng said.
"Well, that should be fine..." Roland nodded, after all, the system's soldiers were trustworthy.
"Are they going to wage a war of annihilation?" Omske raised an eyebrow. Ten dragonhawk knights might not be able to defeat one dragon knight, but their deterrent power was in no way inferior! After all, if the quality was lacking, quantity would make up for it!
"Is there a specific location?" Roland asked.
“Those dragon eagles headed southwest, but their exact destination is still unclear…” Yun Feng shook his head.
“Where else could they have gone? It’s obvious they went to Moria!” Roland shook his head without hesitation.
“There must be a problem in Balin! Otherwise, the dwarven dragonhawks wouldn’t be used so easily!” Roland analyzed. After all, sending dragonhawks to fight just any Tom, Dick, or Harry would be as absurd as sending dragon riders to hunt down orc spies.
"What should we do?" Everyone looked at Roland, waiting for the king's decision.
"Omske! Go ask Sorin what's going on in Bahrain?" Roland had a bad feeling; after all, Bahrain's history hadn't been good. Who knew if his butterfly effect might change Bahrain's course? (Well, it already has...)
“Okay!” Omske nodded immediately and rushed out.
"What's wrong, Your Highness?" Yunfeng could tell that Roland was troubled, so she could only ask with concern.
“I’m afraid Bahrain didn’t heed my advice… I always feel there’s been some change in Moria…” Roland said without hesitation.
"It shouldn't be that bad, right? Didn't you kill that Balrog with the others? There's nothing around Moria that could threaten a dwarf king with an army!" Yun Feng was somewhat doubtful. Those dwarves from Balin couldn't be that weak, could they? If they couldn't even defend the gates of Moria with an army of nearly five hundred, then they should be dead...
"Who told you there's only one Balrog?" Roland said quietly. He had already prepared for the worst: that Moria, which connects East and West, would be taken away by the orcs again!
……
In fact, while Balin's situation was dire, it wasn't as bad as some might think. For instance, the powerful dwarven army had already suffered over a hundred casualties! Even with Roland's instructions, Balin still hoped to find the Dwarven Ring, and as in history, he was ambushed by orcs at Mirror Lake... Fortunately, he was accompanied by ten personal guards, who protected Balin with their lives and ultimately managed to get him back to the West Gate. Thus, Balin escaped death!
But how could Balin let it go after returning? In order to retrieve the bodies of his people, he led his soldiers out and once again clashed with the orcs, and the Battle of Mirror Lake officially began!
When Balin realized that he was facing most of the orcs from the Misty Mountains and some of the elite orcs from Gambada and Dolgodo, things had gotten very serious, and the orcs were about to advance into Westgate... In a panic, Balin turned to Thorin for help.
And so came the sight of countless dragon eagles soaring through the sky... As the vanguard, they would be the first to help their people!
