Chapter 408 Monster Invasion?
While Roland was still rejoicing that he would have a peaceful winter, the town of Delwin was plunged into wailing...
"Kill! Counterattack! Drive them out!" Lance swung his spear, parrying and thrusting as a mid-level magical beast, the Ice Leopard, wielding claws the size of a human face, lunged at him. Lance had no doubt that one slap would break his bones...
"Don't take it head-on!" Lance quickly made the judgment, his round shield pressed against himself as he unleashed a burst of battle aura that instantly covered the shield! Skill - Unyielding Shield activated!
A sharp scraping sound rang out, and Lance stared at the shield with lingering fear, his pupils suddenly contracting.
"Drive away the monsters! Protect the residents!" Lance roared.
"Men, follow me! Let the women and children go first!"
"Send for help! Send for help from Baron Baldr!" roared the Woodland Warriors as they fought off the monsters. Only the centaur army could rescue them now.
"Go!" Seeing that the people around them were unmoved, the forest warriors, who were resisting and retreating, couldn't help but kick the terrified people away.
"Get out! All of you get out!" Seeing that all those young men who had been driven by passion had become mere hotheads... Lance couldn't help but tear up. He roared and ordered all the ordinary people to evacuate, while he and ten Woodland Warriors blocked the already narrow main street.
Taking advantage of the distance between themselves and the monsters, the ten forest warriors instantly raised their ironwood crossbows. The bolts that shot out caused the monsters to howl in agony, further fueling their ferocity!
"These are Ice Leopards! How can there be so many?" Lance's face was grim. He never expected that this wretched place would be home to an entire Ice Leopard family.
“These things shouldn’t live in groups!” A forest ranger fell silent as he looked at the seven adult snow leopards.
"This is a family! A family! Damn bastards!" another injured and unclear Woodland Warrior cursed angrily.
"Nock your swords! Nock your swords! Form a halberd formation!" The other forest warriors hurriedly drew their mithril short swords and inserted them into the base of their hook-and-sickle spears, the sharp spears gleaming with a cold light...
"Crack! Crack!" The eleven men, their eyes filled with tension, stared at the monster in front of them, holding the steel half-body shields to their chests.
"The centaurs still haven't arrived?" Lance was already about to curse. Centaurs, who were usually everywhere, now seemed like an insurmountable chasm, and the hope of reinforcements seemed endless...
Watching the Ice Leopard family chewing on their severed limbs, Lance tightened his grip on his gun. The bloody and cruel scene made his blood boil, and he wished he could rush up and stab them into bloody gourds.
"My lord! Calm down! Those people are dead! We must live!" The Woodland Warrior, blood still flowing from his arm, blocked Lance's path and said coldly.
Those who have passed away are gone, and those who are still alive must carry on their hopes and live on!
And so, Lance, suppressing his grief, stood shoulder to shoulder with the Woodland Warriors against the Lingbing Snow Leopard Clan...
Perhaps knowing they couldn't do anything to Lance and his group in a short time, or perhaps they were full, the beast family soon swaggered away under the watchful eyes of the group. They quickly quickened their pace and disappeared into the night, as the sound of clear hooves could be heard from afar!
The centaur riders have arrived!
……
"It's over! More than a hundred dead or wounded..." Lance looked at the statistics and felt a headache coming on. Most of the dead died from the magical beast's skill attacks. Those large areas of ice that burst open would definitely drive ordinary people crazy. They would be torn apart by the ice blades before they could even run away... "Report to Your Highness!" Lance looked at the wounded lying on the ground groaning and felt a headache coming on.
"I can only keep them alive for a while; the rest is up to you!" Baldr walked over. The centaur's herbal concoction was effective, but it couldn't solve the root problem. If left unattended, more than half of the people here would die in three days!
"Please trouble you, send a team to inform His Highness!" Lance pleaded.
“I will!” Baldr waved his hand, and immediately a group of centaur knights left the area…
……
"Damn it! I'll fucking kill you!" Roland angrily smashed the plate in his hand, his eyes blazing with undisguised fury!
"Am I too weak to lift a knife? I didn't even consider a single orc, ringwraith, or Dongyi a threat! Today I was humiliated by a mere group of mid-level magical beasts!" Roland was furious.
"Omske! Gather the knights! Bring all our priests! Follow me!" Roland had no appetite for breakfast anymore. What was the point? The town near his home had been robbed by monsters. Wasn't this a slap in the face to King Roland?
Roland had just thought he was invincible near Lonely Mountain, but reality slapped him hard across the face, a really loud one! Over a hundred able-bodied men were killed or wounded! Some women and children also died! Roland felt like his lungs were about to explode.
Donning his armor, Roland, his face dark, ignored Nyx and strode out. The surging battle aura emanating from his body showed that the rage of this Northern King had reached the pinnacle!
"Go! Kill them! You worthless monsters!" Roland roared.
"Uh..." Omske was speechless as he looked at the obviously agitated Roland. He could only quickly follow Roland's footsteps, after all, Roland's safety was of utmost importance...
"Your Highness, slow down! Those knights haven't caught up yet!" Omsk spurred his horse to block Roland's path. Looking at the anger in Roland's eyes, Omsk sighed. In the end, Roland was still too young and not composed enough. For Omsk, none of this should make Roland lose his composure. He could just kill a bunch of magical beasts!
“You’re being too impulsive. People shouldn’t let their emotions control them! Although we are all angry, the dead cannot be brought back to life! We cannot let the living suffer any more harm!” Omske shook his head, signaling Roland to relax.
“You are the king, you should be more composed than anyone else! You represent this kingdom! We are under your command! You should not allow these people who trust you to be led by your irrational emotions!” Omske said sternly to Roland. Anger and arrogance are man’s greatest enemies; the former will make you lose your mind, and the latter will make you lose your caution!
"Thank you! Omske, I understand!" Roland gradually calmed down, and only then did the knights who had been running for their lives catch up in small groups.
“Do you see that? If this were war, this knightly order would no longer exist!” Omske said to Roland, pointing to the scattered groups of vanguard knights with no discernible formation.
"I'm sorry, it's my fault!" The moment Roland saw those knights, he understood. If a well-organized knightly order was difficult to annihilate, then break them up! And he had just personally broken up his own knightly order... That was a huge mistake!
