Chapter 364 The Glory That Never Fades

Chapter 364 The Glory That Never Fades
The night was quiet and still...

At an altitude of about two thousand meters, two enormous black shadows, resembling bats, flew silently, with only a faint flapping sound coming from their huge membranous wings.

"Have we searched the area for hundreds of miles around? I'm so sleepy... Where are those damned chariot warriors?" Ajax communicated with Caslo using her mental powers.

“Our scouts said they spotted the enemy 60 miles to the southeast… Logically, these guys should have been able to get there by crawling, right?” Caslo said, propping his head up with his hand, somewhat puzzled.

The cold wind of the night lashed his face, but he paid no heed. His thoughts drifted, and he stared into deep thought at the dark earth... Where were they?

Looking at the silent Caslo, Ajax tilted her head, but did not disturb Caslo's thoughts. She quietly watched Caslo's profile as he flew beside her.

The Anthony family's distinctive silver hair danced in the night breeze; every frame of it would have been a screensaver-worthy image on Earth in the past. (After all, who could resist an adorable silver-haired creature?)
“Perhaps we should…” Caslo turned to look at Ajax, only to be met with a girl smiling radiantly. Her red lips and white teeth shone with stunning beauty in the moonlight, and Caslo was instantly stunned.

"Idiot! What are you thinking about? Be serious!" Just as Caslo had already thought of everything from the wedding to the names of the children, Ajax's coquettish voice rang in his mind.

“Oh…oh! It’s like this, we might have made a mistake! They might not have continued westward and went in another direction!” Caslow’s voice echoed in Ajax’s mind.

"How could that be? They couldn't possibly know when we set off. Could there be a traitor in the kingdom?" Ajax's imagination ran wild, and all sorts of conspiracy theories began to surface in her mind.

"Fool! What nonsense are you thinking..." Caslo gently shook Ajax with his mental power.

“Don’t forget that scout team still had four men. We haven’t seen any of them or their bodies along the way. It’s very likely that the cavalry lured away the vanguard of the chariot warriors,” Caslo said after a moment of contemplation.

“Then we…” Ajax twisted her small hands and frowned.

“Let’s expand our search area…” Caslo shook his head.

……

"Huff, huff, huff..." Okan panted as he looked back at them as if some ferocious beast was chasing them.

"Captain! That woman deserves to die!" The two remaining cavalrymen glared angrily behind them.

"Go!" Okan weakly pulled up the bowstring, but his bloodied hand could no longer pull it.

"Tsk!" Okan spat, casually tossing aside the longbow in his hand. He then drew his lance, tore a strip of cloth from his already tattered shirt, and wrapped it around his right hand to secure it.

"Damn it!" The other two also threw down their longbows and, like Okan, took the spears that were fixed to their saddles and tied them to their hands.

“Run! As far as possible! Get out of here! Tell His Highness... we have not betrayed his trust and the mission of the Lagrange soldiers!” Okan suddenly stopped.

The unassuming light cavalry captain smiled, turned his horse around, and leveled his lance, aiming it at the direction the enemy was pursuing. "Not going any further?" the two riders asked, bewildered by Okan's sudden halt.

"Yeah, I don't want to run anymore! The horse can't run anymore either! We've been running for almost half the night..." Okan sighed.

A cold, azure light was rapidly approaching from behind.

"Go! I'll hold her off! You guys get back to the team quickly!" Okan smiled lightly, his smile unusually carefree.

“Boss, if you don’t leave, I won’t leave either! Let’s fight her! She killed our brothers!” a light cavalryman said as he approached.

The other cavalryman walked over silently without making a sound, and then walked alongside the two men.

The three men had different expressions, but all looked at the approaching enemy with fearless eyes.

……

"Run! Why aren't you running anymore?" The female warrior of the chariot people chased after them, wielding a halberd. When she saw Okan and the others standing in front of her, she grinned coldly.

"Heh, invaders!" Okan pointed at the professional in front of him with his lance.

"Your name?" The female warrior of the chariot people looked at Okan from her horse. She noticed that Okan was the leader of these people, and she immediately became interested in this cavalry captain who had run away from them for half a day and then attacked the camp in the middle of the night.

"Who are you? A third-tier berserker shouldn't be an unknown nobody!" Okan gritted his teeth. The battle aura flames opposite him rose more than two meters high, making it easy to tell her rank at a glance, or perhaps she never intended to hide it.

(First-tier battle qi flames can only cover the body surface for defense; second-tier battle qi flames can rise up to one meter above the body surface; third-tier battle qi flames can rise up to three meters; fourth-tier battle qi flames can rise up to more than five meters; fifth-tier battle qi flames can rise up to about seven meters; and sixth-tier battle qi flames can rise up to more than ten meters.)
"Naluye, daughter of the Lucadi tribe's commander! A third-tier berserker!" Naluye raised her battle halberd and proclaimed loudly, looking quite proud.

"Your opponent is the Lagrange Empire! The Grand Duchy of Nyx! The entire Ninth Squad of the 400th Crusader Light Cavalry!" Okan said calmly, holding his lance level. He said this to commemorate his Crusader brothers who had fought alongside him, for their glory had never faded!

"Pfft! Hahaha! You're the human army on the Red River Plain?" Naluye laughed loudly, as if she had heard something hilarious, her laughter shaking her head.

"You guys are really weak. If I remember correctly, you should have suffered thousands of casualties, right? Hahaha! This is an empire? What kind of human empire did you pop out of in some remote corner?" Naluye mocked in a disdainful tone. In her memory, there was only one human empire! And that empire had long since fallen apart.

"..." Okan narrowed his eyes. His bloodied hand was bleeding from the force he exerted, and the blood slid down the gun barrel, adding a chilling atmosphere to the battlefield.

"Words are unnecessary when there is no common ground! Kill! For the glory of the empire!" Okan did not give the woman a chance to speak again, but instead spurred his warhorse forward.

Two riders followed closely behind Okan and launched a charge. Three sharp lances remained aimed at Naluye's chest and abdomen even as the warhorse moved at high speed. This showed the elite nature of this light cavalry. It should be noted that lance charges are the job of knights and heavy cavalry, and the fact that light cavalry possessed the same skill made them exceptionally elite!
Naluye's smile vanished. She too noticed the cavalry squad's rapid movements, and her pupils constricted instantly! Yes! It was that cavalry! It was them! They were back!
