Chapter 2800: It Can't Be Hidden Anymore! (Part 1)
The farm is divided into several areas, with chickens in one area. These chickens have obviously been free-range for a month or two, and they are only half-grown, weighing less than a pound each.
In the pond in the middle of the ranch, there were a dozen or so ducks and geese swimming around. Judging from the way they looked, the leader had obviously been raised from a young age and was still a long way from laying eggs.
In a corner of the farm, there was a pigpen with five piglets inside. Judging by their size, they were probably less than two months old.
Diagonally opposite the pigpen was a sheep pen, which contained five lambs that looked to be only one or two months old.
At the very back of the farm is a courtyard that looks like a cave dwelling. Through the fence at the entrance, you can see that there are five puppies inside, which look to be about two months old.
Lin Haifeng glanced back at the chickens, ducks, and geese and found that there were 10 of each. He understood that each child had a corresponding animal.
Looking at the small farm, Lin Haifeng couldn't help but worry about the children.
You know, putting everything else aside, if those five little pigs were to grow up, how could a few children, running around handling supplies every day, possibly raise all those edible creatures here?
With this thought in mind, Lin Haifeng didn't even go to the farm. After returning, he told his wife about what had happened there, and then said somewhat helplessly...
"Honey, I feel really bad for Cherry bringing her to this remote mountain village. I'm happy that she uses her own pocket money to buy these little things. But what if the animals are too big? It's fine if they're small, but what if they grow up?"
Seeing her husband say that, Zhao Shengjuan retorted irritably, "Just keep spoiling her!"
She said this, but she also felt sorry for her daughter, so she suggested, "How about I talk to the other parents and we help carry some feed up to the house? That way the children will have an easier time."
Seeing his wife's resolute expression, Lin Haifeng quickly pulled her into his arms and said with a smile.
"Honey, how could I bear to let you do the moving? I mean, you go and talk to the other parents, and pretend that I'm the only one who knows their secret. I'll help them carry some feed, so the kids can have an easier time."
You wouldn't believe it, those pigs might get eaten once they grow up. These kids don't think about that at all. And if the pigs have piglets, there will be even more pigs; their little farm simply can't hold them all. When that happens, they'll have to sell some, and that'll require adult help."
Zhao Shengjuan was still a little conflicted about her husband's arrangement. She knew that the location he mentioned was far beyond her capabilities to reach by bicycle. She wasn't sure how exhausted she would be if she had to carry everything up, so she was reluctant to go herself, and even less willing to let her husband go.
So she frowned and said, "Why don't we talk to the kids and suggest they come to our construction site?"
Lin Haifeng sighed and said, "Have you forgotten the geese that Yu Qiao raised when he first came? They were fine when they were young, but they were stolen when they grew up. When they were found, all that was left were goose feathers! The child cried for a long time, and even Cherry cried. Later, we had to take her to the village on the other side of the mountain to see the geese before we could calm them down."
Zhao Shengjuan also thought of this matter and frowned, saying, "But it's not convenient to deliver feed every night, is it? It's more than ten kilometers round trip." Lin Haifeng smiled and said, "I'll discuss it with the kids. I'll deliver one piece for the places where we can ride our bikes, and we won't have to ride for the remaining one or two kilometers."
Those kids run every day, their physical fitness has improved so much. They can easily make it up that short mountain path while training; they'll definitely be fine with time.
Although Zhao Shengjuan still felt it was somewhat inappropriate, she couldn't think of any other solution for the time being, so she could only complain helplessly, "Why do these kids like small animals so much? Those things grow up, and they'll look ugly then."
Lin Haifeng knew that his wife was worried about him, so he didn't argue or say anything more. He just smiled and changed the subject, discussing the division of labor and cooperation in the future.
After discussing it with Lin Haifeng, Zhao Shengjuan contacted several other parents and made sure all of them knew about the small pasture halfway up the mountain.
So, all the parents, like Lin Haifeng, rushed to check on their children during lunchtime, and when they came back, they didn't know what to say about them.
However, considering that their children should have been living in the provincial capital, and that they, as parents, had brought their children to these remote mountain villages, they already felt somewhat guilty towards them. Therefore, they all unanimously chose to spoil their children.
So, after discussing it, the parents decided that Lin Haifeng would be in charge of contacting the children and helping to order feed and other supplies. Of course, the feed had to be bought from outside the mountains, so the parents directly entrusted a deliveryman to transport it back from outside the mountains. They even discussed how to slaughter the pigs after they grew up.
Wang Yue and the other children were still kept in the dark. They were used to going up the mountain at night to put the small animals back into their enclosures, but this time they unexpectedly saw Lin Haifeng.
Wang Yue immediately turned to look at Lin Qile, and from Lin Qile's reaction, he understood what was going on. He felt quite helpless, but still took advantage of the children's confusion to play along and asked, "Uncle Lin, what brings you here?"
Lin Haifeng gave Wang Yue an approving look before pretending to be bored and said, "I was just thinking of catching some cicada nymphs. What about you? Are you here to catch cicada nymphs too?"
Unaware that he had given himself away, Yu Qiao immediately tried to be clever and said, "Yeah, I didn't expect this place to be so remote, so I came here to catch them. How many did you catch, Uncle?"
Seeing that Yu Qiao didn't even blink while lying, and that the others also seemed to want to keep it a secret, Lin Haifeng smiled and said, "You guys don't know, I just saw a small farm on the mountain with lots of small animals. I was just about to call the others to come and catch them, and then I'll share them with you guys to play with."
When Lin Qile heard her father say that, she immediately looked at the others in a panic. She was afraid that her friends would think of her as a traitor, so she immediately wanted to shout at her father.
Yu Qiao, Cai Fangyuan, and Du Shang were also very anxious, but they were afraid of their parents finding out.
