The beloved baby has a space

Chapter 13: Future Blessings

Chapter 13: Future Blessings
People from all over the village who could come came. Except for some paralyzed elderly people who did not want to be moved, even babies were brought out.

This was arranged by Village Chief Hu, because he was worried that if everyone came out, there would be no one to take care of the elderly and weak at home.

The second son of the Wang family was also bedridden and didn't want to trouble everyone, so he didn't come along.

Everyone started digging around 6:00 PM and it took more than two hours. Now it is about 7:00 AM.

Winter nights are long, and there are still two hours until dawn.

Before dawn, the torches in every household had long since been extinguished, but the bonfires continued to burn tirelessly.

A boiler sits atop the stove, and there's plenty of snake soup available. Sweet potatoes have also been simmered for the children.

Fortunately, everyone had brought some food with them beforehand and piled it up nearby; otherwise, it wouldn't have been sustainable for hundreds of people to keep eating like this.

Everyone panicked when they learned that the village had been buried.

Someone belatedly realized: "If we hadn't come out to look for the baby, we'd probably be—"

"This child of the Wang family is truly blessed!"

"Luckily, everyone is here. This place was just covered in snow, so it's actually the safest spot."

Some people's expressions changed drastically: "Oh no, my dad's still at home!!"

After saying this, he pulled a torch from the fire and hurried home.

Now that everyone in the family is here, let's quickly spend time with them.

Those who were timid had already started sobbing.

"Stop crying!" Old Master Hu shouted sternly. "Are you afraid you won't die fast enough?!"

It's cold, and if you cry, you lose all your warmth. The tears freeze on your face, which is not pleasant!

These people then dared not cry.

Old Wang said, "Eldest brother, third brother, you two hurry back and check on the situation. If something really happens, second brother's wife can't handle it alone!"

Grandma Wang also said to everyone, "Folks, you must be tired after working all night, so take a rest. We'll take care of the rest ourselves. Who knows what will happen if the snow collapses?"

Everyone was shocked and frightened, but remembering that they had survived because they were saving the baby, they were unwilling to rest.

"We've almost dug it up, let's dig a little more together."

"Getting the child out is the priority."

"Liu, stop digging, be careful of your hands," a daughter-in-law went to persuade Liu.

Liu's face was frozen stiff, and she could no longer force a smile. She could only say, "It's alright, I can still manage."

Tuanzi sensed someone shoveling snow and knew she was about to see someone, so she said to Xiao Ayu in the space, "Someone's coming, I'm going to take off my thermal cover!"

We have very little energy left, and we don't know when we'll be able to replenish it.

Looking at the Wanling Water that I had painstakingly accumulated in my space, there wasn't a single drop left.

Its own energy reserves have been deducted.

Ugh.

slam-la-

Liu, who was digging with his bare hands at the front, emptied his hand and fell into the crevice—he had dug through.

A gust of cold wind blew in, and Xiao Ayu shivered, goosebumps instantly appearing on her skin.

"Ah—Mother—" Her voice trembled.

Liu's nose tingled, and she quickly hid her tears. Unable to see clearly, she could only wave her hand stiffly: "Ayu, come here quickly, come to your mother."

Those hands were stiff from digging for so long.

Little Ayu hugged the lamb tightly and moved outward step by step. After two steps, she got stuck.

They had no choice but to step back, put the lamb down, and let it go first.

The little lamb hopped and skipped through the gap, and Little Ayu also lay down on the ground and squeezed through the gap.

Before she could even look up, Xiao Ayu was scooped up by someone.

Liu bent her arms and rubbed her hands together on her face several times before pulling Xiao Ayu into her arms and wrapping her already cold feet with the inside of her clothes.

In an instant, he yanked her upper body out of his arms and raised his large hands high, as if to strike her.

"Wan Niang! Stop!" Wang Chuanman saw this and rushed over to snatch her away.

Liu's hand gently fell, patting Xiao Ayu's bottom twice.

He then covered her up tightly again.

She felt waves of excruciating pain in her arm, but she couldn't seem to feel them.

"You're trying to tear my heart out!!!" Liu Shi collapsed to the ground, clutching little Ayu, and burst into tears.

It was as if she had returned to the day she miscarried, staring at the basins of blood, collapsing in the snow, and being quickly covered by the heavy snow.

My heart is about to die.

It was so hard, so hard—

"Why did you run away! Why did you!" Liu cried uncontrollably, the tension that had been building for over two hours finally snapping. "Mother..." Little Ayu was truly terrified; she finally realized that she had probably caused trouble.

She didn't know why her mother was crying so sadly. She vaguely remembered being called out by her older sister and the others in the middle of the night.

She was dressed less than she is now and was very cold, but her mother didn't ask any questions or cry.

Her little lamb has left, and she has to chase after it; she absolutely must.

She used to have a little duck and a little bird, and later a little cat, all of whom were her playmates.

The little duckling went missing that night, and the next day, her older sister brought her some duck meat.

After she ate it, her older sister said that it was her good friend, the duck.

She was so frightened that she fell ill.

Later, the bird disappeared again in the middle of the night. The older sister strung it up and roasted it alive in front of her until it was a piece of charcoal.

"Ayu, the little bird ran away and misbehaved. Your older sister will help you discipline it. Remember, your older sister is doing this for your own good."

Then came the cat, a soft, warm little kitten, white—just like a lamb.

The kitten always liked to bring her food; sometimes it was a steamed bun, sometimes half a pancake, and sometimes a small live fish.

On a snowy night, the kitten nudged her head and went outside.

It never came back.

It ran into my sister's yard and bit her.

Who said—

"...An ungrateful beast...get out...don't keep it!"

"Guards... kill him, skin him... chop his flesh... throw him... to the dogs!"

And who said—

"Dad, Ayu really likes it, so let's not feed it to the dog... After you've vented your anger... let's take it back."

Later, she saw a bloody, mangled mass of flesh thrown into the chamber pot.

She fell ill again, and her older sister squatted down in front of her bedside and spoke to her.

"Ayu, let me teach you a lesson—"

"You have to take good care of your own things."

Many memories flashed through her mind in a chaotic manner, but Xiao Ayu couldn't remember them clearly. It was as if some handkerchief was wiping away those memories little by little.

But she still remembered that "you have to take good care of your things" and that "playmates can't go out alone, or they'll die," so she followed the lamb and took it home.

She didn't remember that her mother would cry.

Mother cried, which means she was wrong.

"Mother..." Little Ayu, who had been holding back her tears for so long, finally burst forth, "Ayu was wrong, Ayu was wrong..."

"Ayu—my Ayu!"

The mother and daughter embraced and wept bitterly, while the little lamb clung tightly to Xiao Ayu's back.

"Alright, fourth daughter-in-law, now is not the time to cry." Old Wang had no choice but to speak up when he saw that Old Mrs. Wang was not paying attention.

Since her father-in-law rarely spoke, Liu Shi naturally dared not cry any more. She wiped away the icy tears on her face and then went to pick at Xiao Ayu's.

Little Ayu stopped crying, her eyes red as she looked at her mother, then at her father.

I remembered.

She stretched out her little hand and pointed to the gap through which she had come out, saying, "There's also an uncle, and a big hole."

Wang Chuanman led his men to continue digging, probing deeper by the torchlight, and sure enough, they saw a person.

"There are still people here! Quick, dig away the frozen soil and rescue them!" Wang Chuanman shouted, and several more people grabbed hoes and went to help.

Meanwhile, Village Chief Hu was working with other villagers to check on the situation of each household. They didn't yet know the extent of the disaster, so they could only reassure everyone not to act rashly.

"My dad's still at home. He has trouble walking. If the snow collapses, where will he go to hide?" someone cried anxiously. "I have to go back and save him!"

“My family is still here, but my house collapsed. Where will my family live? God, why don’t you just bury us or freeze us? Why torture us like this!” Some people dared not cry, but could only shout in grief and indignation.

"Alright! Wait until dawn!" Old Master Hu frowned when he saw the group of people wailing and lamenting. "I know you're anxious, but this isn't something that can be solved by being anxious. Running out now is no different from suicide. Didn't you hear the avalanche?"

"If we hadn't happened to come out and save the Wang family's child, would you all have the chance to cry here now? You'd probably be crossing the Bridge of Helplessness by now!" an elder shouted sternly. "At a time like this, all of you better behave yourselves!"

The survivors were filled with lingering fear. They instinctively looked at the Wang family members and at the baby tightly wrapped up by Liu.

If it weren't for her, how many people would be left in the village?
How many people can survive a snowdrift collapse?
Was she alive because everyone rescued her quickly, or was she just incredibly lucky?
For a moment, everyone was pondering this in their hearts.

On the other side, Wang Chuanfu had just carried Wang Chuangui over on his back when Wang Chuanyuan laid the mattress and quilt he had brought directly on the ground and then put Wang Chuangui on top of them.

“A chicken coop collapsed at home, but everything else is fine. We just can’t let my second brother stay here any longer; it would be terrible if something happened to him,” Wang Chuanyuan said.

No sooner had the words left his mouth than someone carried a person out from behind a large rock.

Then, someone said, "Good heavens! There's a huge hole here, and it's quite warm at the entrance! Quick, get another torch! Anyone want to come with me to take a look?"
