Chapter 63: Would you like a drink? Mr. Weasley
Chapter 63 Would you like a drink? Mr. Weasley
Ada lived in the Leaky Cauldron and went to work at Flourish and Blotts during the day. After receiving the owl order, she would go to the warehouse to pack the books on the order and then send them back via owl. This was all Ada's job.
While packing the books, Ada would flip through them. She read very quickly and just took a quick look, which did not affect Ada's normal work at all.
However, since she always dealt with owls, Ada would inevitably have some smell on her body. She had to secretly cast a cleansing spell on herself so that she would not be haunted by the unpleasant smell.
At around four o'clock in the afternoon, Ada finished her work at the bookstore, but when she returned to the bar, she had not yet finished her day's work, and she had to continue helping out in the bar.
The injured Dave couldn't come back to work at the bar for the time being. The doctor at St. Mungo's said he would probably have to stay in the hospital until October. Tom originally wanted to hire another waiter to replace Dave, but he hadn't found one yet.
Ada took advantage of this opportunity. After finishing her work in the bookstore, she would return to the bar to help out. Tom provided Ada with free food and reduced part of the room rent.
It seems that Ada is the one who suffers the loss, but in fact Ada doesn't do much work in the bar every day. If she can work three or four hours, it is considered a lot, and it can also save a lot of expenses.
The evening is naturally Ada's own time. She can use it freely, whether doing summer homework or reading books, whatever she likes. Except that the place is a little small, everything else is good.
A week passed in a flash. Ada felt a little tired but very fulfilled. She learned a lot of things that Hogwarts could not teach her.
That afternoon, because the bookstore did not receive many orders, Ada was able to leave work early. It was only half past three when she returned to the Leaky Cauldron.
Ada greeted the regular customers in the store familiarly. After working here for a few days, Ada was very popular and no one was stupid enough to bully her.
"Ada, guess who I saw today?" said the drunk Dedalus Digg.
"How can I guess? Why don't you tell me?" Ada came over with a bottle of wine. "If you tell me, I'll keep the glass of wine."
"Of course you can't guess, because I saw Harry Potter today. I met him in a Muggle store!" Di Ge raised his glass and said excitedly, "I recognized the scar on his forehead and bowed to him to express my highest respect!"
Dedalo Digo was so excited that he took off his hat and waved his hands to describe the situation to the guests around him.
"You've suffered a great loss today, Ada. Dedallo has said this dozens of times this afternoon!" said a young wizard who often comes here and likes to drink single malt whiskey.
"My ears are callused from hearing this!" A nearby wizard echoed with a smile, "I am now hallucinating that it is me, not Dedalus, who is seeing Harry Potter."
"He's going to start school soon, right?" someone asked.
"Soon, he should go to Hogwarts next year, and then we will be able to see him!" another customer answered excitedly.
"By then he will be my junior. I can ask him for his autograph and send it to you for free." Ada said with a smile. She kept her promise with Dedalo and poured him a glass of fire whiskey for free.
"That's Harry Potter, the boy who lived, the boy who saved the wizarding world!" Dedalus Digg said excitedly, spilling the wine he had just poured on the ground without drinking a sip.
Yes, that’s Harry Potter, a remarkable man who “although he is no longer in the world, his name is still widely praised in the world.”
Most of the people in the bar wanted to meet this person, but they were not as lucky as Dedalus, who could run into Harry Potter even when walking on the street.
"Maybe he'll be in the same college as me!" Ada smiled and poured another glass of wine for Dedalo, "This glass of wine isn't free, good luck Di Ge."
Ada walked back to the bar and asked Tom for a glass of butter beer. Tom didn't know what Ada was up to, but he gave it to her anyway. After spending the past few days together, Tom had a new respect for Ada.
Raising the butterbeer in her hand, Ada said loudly to the guests in the bar: "Cheers to Harry Potter!"
"To Harry Potter!"
The wizards and witches in the bar followed suit loudly, raising their glasses and drinking them all. Those with a better alcohol tolerance even had one more glass.
Ada also took a big sip of butter beer. The bitterness of the beer was neutralized by the rich aroma of butter, and the beer suppressed the greasy feeling of butter to the minimum. No wonder this sweet drink was loved by little wizards. Ada didn't care about Harry Potter or not, because she would meet him sooner or later anyway. What she cared about was that all the guests' drinks tonight would be +1, which was just a small amount of money.
Tom at the bar was very happy watching the scene in front of him. His toothless mouth was almost split behind his ears due to smiling. He secretly gave Ada a thumbs up.
These days, Ada has been using various methods to stimulate the consumption enthusiasm of customers in the bar. When Ada is helping out in the store, customers order more drinks than usual.
Putting the wine glass back on the bar, Ada stood leaning against the bar, watching with satisfaction the grand scene of everyone in front of her raising their glasses and drinking. Ada now wanted to give herself a [loud voice], and then shout to everyone: All the expenses tonight will be paid by Master Bo!
Tom took out the butter beer and filled another glass for Ada. He regretted his previous act of secretly writing to Professor McGonagall. If he had known this would happen, he should have secretly hidden Ada in the bar and provided her with good food and drink.
"Take care of the bar while I get some more drinks from the back," said Tom.
Ada walked into the bar, took the cup from Tom's hand and continued to wipe it. It would be better to be lazy. What could be more enjoyable than slacking off at work?
Ada, who was concentrating on slacking off, no, concentrating on wiping the wine glass, felt a darkening in front of her eyes, and a figure appeared in front of Ada. She said, "What would the guest like to order?"
As Ada spoke, she looked up and saw a thin, balding man with fiery red hair standing in front of her.
"You must be Ada. You are as beautiful as they say." said the balding man kindly.
"You are..." The appearance of the man in front of Ada seemed familiar, but Ada was very sure that she had never seen this person before.
"I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Arthur Weasley, and Fred and George are my sons." Mr. Weasley explained.
"Hello, Mr. Weasley. I always hear Fred and George mention you. They say you are the best father in the world." Ada felt that she was really stupid. She didn't recognize him with his appearance and hair color.
Mr. Weasley didn't believe that his naughty son would say such a thing, but he was still very happy to hear Ada's compliment.
"Mr. Weasley, would you like a drink?" Tom came back from getting the stored wine and asked Mr. Weasley.
"No, not today. I have to go home soon..." Mr. Weasley said, "I'm here to see Ada today."
Tom led Mr. Weasley and Ada to a small booth behind the bar, which contained a small table and two uncomfortable-looking chairs.
"Is there anything you need to talk to me about today?" Ada asked. She poured a glass of wine before coming in and placed the glass in front of Mr. Weasley.
"Here you go." Mr. Weasley pulled an envelope from his robes and handed it to Ada.
Ada took the letter and started reading. It was a letter from Professor McGonagall. Ada recognized the handwriting at a glance. After reading her Transfiguration Notes for a year, if she couldn't recognize it, Ada might as well get a pair of glasses.
"Professor McGonagall was very angry when she found out you were living here." Mr. Weasley said, "Oh, and this, Professor McGonagall said you can use the money with confidence, but don't spend it recklessly."
Mr. Weasley handed Ada a small leather bag, which was the same bag that Ada handed in before the holiday.
Ada was still reading the letter, and Professor McGonagall's concerns were revealed between the lines. From the letter, Ada also understood why Mr. Weasley came to the Leaky Cauldron to find her.
After knowing this, Professor McGonagall originally planned to pick up Ada in person, but Dumbledore did not agree with her approach. Instead, he wrote a letter to Mr. Weasley, asking Mr. Weasley to take Ada to his house to stay for a while.
"I'll be troubling you and Mrs. Weasley from now on." Ada said, holding her butterbeer.
"Molly likes you very much. She keeps asking me to take you over to play." Mr. Weasley said, a little hesitant about the wine glass in front of him.
Ada was very familiar with Mr. Weasley's expression. She said, "I won't tell Mrs. Weasley."
Upon hearing this, Mr. Weasley raised his glass and drank it all. He said, "Pack up your things and we'll go home and give them a surprise!"
