Chapter 780
Hallelujah Frolov gently rubbed his temples; months of living in a mental hospital without sunlight had instilled in him a highly tense nervous system.
“Professor Frolov, it’s still early,” the lean and capable Mitchell McGann said softly, then brought Professor Frolov a glass of warm water. She had filled it with hot water from the water dispenser in the airport and then mixed it with the 'Clear Spring Water' magic that her ring had given her.
“If you feel tired, you can take a nap here. Our plane won’t take off for another two hours,” Mitchell McGann kindly said.
“Thank you, Miss McGonagall.” Professor Frolov took a small sip of warm water, then licked his somewhat dry lips, and said in hoarse, heavily accented English, “I’ve gotten used to light sleep and a high level of alertness.”
To be precise, Professor Frolov hadn't had a good night's sleep since encountering that blasphemous creature on that barren rock near Iceland.
That strange, toad-headed monster that called itself the Deep One seemed to have flipped a switch on Professor Frolov, and ever since then, he has been having nightmares non-stop.
After being rescued, Professor Frolov tried psychotherapy, massage, hypnosis, and even so-called mystical witch doctors from the East, but to no avail.
Professor Frolov's sleep problems did not improve as a result; on the contrary, they became more severe.
Every night, he would be plagued by bizarre nightmares, filled with indifferent gazes and indescribable horrors.
He often wakes up drenched in sweat, his heart racing, and he is gripped by immense fear and anxiety.
He desperately needed an outlet, a way to vent these horrifying and worrying truths—
So he started writing books, hoping someone could share his fear, but out of fear, he didn't use the name 'Deep Diver' in the books. He then joined extreme environmental organizations, as if only in this way could he please the so-called great beings touted by the Deep Divers.
Only when he was locked up in a mental hospital, only when he faced an empty room with blank walls, did his mental state find a slight relief.
However, when the capable young woman named Mitchell McGann visited him at the mental hospital and uttered the words "Deep One," "R'lyeh," and "Great Being," he left the hospital without hesitation.
For a scholar, the unknown truth is far more alluring than a mundane and comfortable life.
Especially when Mitchell McGann promised to solve his nightmare problem once and for all.
“Please don’t be nervous, Professor Frolov,” Mitchell Hogan said softly. “I was just as overwhelmed as you were when I first encountered these kinds of things.”
"Things like this?" Professor Frolov's eyes suddenly sharpened. "You have no idea what I've encountered!"
“We know, we know we’ve been to incredibly beautiful and bizarre places and seen terrifying creatures that are beyond description,” Mitchell McGann said softly.
