Harry Potter and the Great Old Ones
Chapter 69 Phantom
Chapter 69 Phantom
Fitch was speaking.
Hagrid strode toward them from the darkness, with Tooth following behind. Hagrid carried his enormous stone bow and had a full quiver of arrows slung over his shoulder.
“It’s about time,” Hagrid said. “I’ve been waiting for half an hour. How are things, Harry, Hermione, and Tyella?”
“You shouldn’t be so polite to them, Hagrid,” Fitch said coldly. “After all, they’re here to be punished.”
“So that’s why you’re late, is that it?” Hagrid frowned at Fitch and said, “You’ve been lecturing them, huh? This isn’t the place for you to lecture people. Your job is done, from now on I’m in charge.”
“I’ll be back at dawn,” Filch said. “To clean up their wreckage.”
He said fiercely, then turned and walked toward the castle, the lamp swaying and disappearing into the darkness.
At this point, Malfoy turned to Hagrid and said, "I'm not going into that Forbidden Forest."
[Haha, Malfoy's scared, what a coward!]
Tyella, who had been being led by Harry, heard Harry say this in her mind.
"..." Tyella was a little speechless. She tried to pull her hand away, but couldn't, so she had no choice but to let Harry continue to hold it.
He wasn't learning to spy on this magic to listen to the inner thoughts of teenage boys.
“If you want to stay at Hogwarts, you have no choice but to go.” Hagrid showed no mercy to Malfoy. “You’ve done something wrong, and now you have to pay the price.”
"Working here is a servant's job, not something students do. I thought at most we'd be writing self-criticisms or something. If my father knew I was doing this, he would..."
“I’ll tell you that’s just how Hogwarts is,” Hagrid said gruffly. “Write a self-criticism! What good will that do you? You’d better do something useful or you’re out. If you think your father would rather you be expelled, then go back to the castle and pack your bags, go on!”
Malfoy didn't move. He glared angrily at Hagrid, but then lowered his gaze.
“Alright,” Hagrid said. “Now listen carefully. What we’re about to do tonight is very dangerous, and I don’t want anyone to be in danger. Come with me this way.”
He led them to the edge of the forbidden forest, held the lantern high, and pointed to a narrow path that gradually disappeared into the depths of the dark woods. They looked into the forbidden forest, a gentle breeze ruffling their hair.
“Look over there,” Hagrid said. “Do you see that glittering thing on the ground? Silvery white? That’s unicorn blood. A unicorn in the Forbidden Forest has been badly wounded by something. This is the second time this week. I found one dead last Wednesday. We must try to find that poor unicorn and relieve its suffering.”
"What if the thing that harmed the unicorn finds us first?" Malfoy asked, his voice filled with barely suppressed fear.
Tiera gazed thoughtfully at the specks of silvery-white blood, while her other hand quietly slipped inside her wizard's robes and gently grasped the twelve soft, white pages of the book.
“As long as you’re with me or Tooth, no creature in the Forbidden Forest will harm you,” Hagrid said. “Don’t stray from the path. Now, we’ll split up and follow the trail of blood. There’s blood everywhere; it’s clearly been stumbling around since at least last night.”
"I want Tooth!" Malfoy exclaimed eagerly, looking at Tooth's long teeth.
“Alright, but I warn you, it’s a coward,” Hagrid said. “So, Hermione, Ron, and I will go one way, and Malfoy, Harry, Tierra, and Axe will go the other. If anyone finds the unicorn, fire a green spark, understand? Take out your wands and practice. Oh, and if anyone gets into trouble, fire a red spark, and we’ll all come looking for you. Alright, everyone be careful, let’s go.”
Hagrid, carrying a crossbow, led a group of young wizards into the Forbidden Forest, where the trees grew wildly.
As Tierra entered the Forbidden Forest, he took advantage of the darkness to pull out the twelve pages of the soft book that he had been hiding in his pocket and threw them on the ground when they weren't looking.
The pages unfurled slowly as soon as they touched the ground, then flapped like a large bird, soaring into the depths of the dense Forbidden Forest. "What was that sound?!" Malfoy exclaimed in surprise.
The Forbidden Forest was pitch black when suddenly the sound of flapping wings broke through.
Hagrid shone his kerosene lamp upwards, but he saw nothing.
"It's probably a bat," Hagrid said casually. "Let's keep going."
They walked a little further and came to a fork in the road. Ron, Hermione, and Hagrid took the left path, while Malfoy, Tyella, Harry, and Axe took the right path.
They walked silently, their eyes fixed on the ground. Every now and then, a ray of moonlight would filter through the branches above, illuminating a patch of silvery-blue blood on a fallen leaf.
As they followed the trail of blood, Tiera's "Successor" arrived beside the dying unicorn.
Through her connection with the "Inheritor," Tiera saw a tall, amorphous black shadow lying on the body of a silver-white unicorn, constantly sucking its blood.
The unicorn's belly rose and fell almost imperceptibly, indicating that it was on its last legs.
The tall, dark figure seemed so engrossed in feeding on the unicorn's blood that it failed to notice the "Inheritor's" approach.
The "Successor" slowly turned to the fourth page.
A phantom spell was fixed there.
Because magical items possess a much higher spiritual affinity than wizards, even spells that the creator has not yet learned can be directly imprinted onto the spiritual dimension of the magical item using special materials, provided the creator understands the principles and structure of magic.
This phenomenon is called the constant effect of magical items.
The Illusion Charm that the "Inheritor" uses now, as well as the Flight Charm from before, are all spells that Tiera inscribed into the "Inheritor's" spiritual dimension through the Constant Effect.
Both of these spells are covered in the "Advanced Spells Tutorial".
Although Tiera understood the principles of the spell, she was not yet proficient in it due to time constraints.
A green flame ignited in the jungle about twenty meters away from Voldemort.
An old man wearing a light gray wizard's robe and sporting a white beard emerged from the firelight.
"It was foolish for you to come here tonight, Tom."
The kind old man, like Santa Claus, looked through his crescent-shaped glasses at the ugly, dark shadowy monster that was sucking the blood of unicorns.
