Harry Potter and the Great Old Ones
Chapter 637 Leng Yuan
Chapter 637 Leng Yuan
Voldemort thought he had done everything secretly, but little did he know that he was simply following Tyrell's script.
After passing through the rugged mountain caves, Voldemort arrived at the Cold Plains.
It was a vast plain covered with ice, snow, and bluish-white strange rocks.
Voldemort stood at the cave entrance, gazing into the distance. All he could see was a desolate land, rising and falling like the sea.
The biting wind, like a roaring tyrannical dragon, violently swept back and forth across the cold plains, whipping up gusts of fine dust and ice shards.
Many of them were blown into Voldemort's nostrils, which were not covered by his nose, causing him to cough violently. He had to wave his wand and cast a Bubble Head Charm on himself to feel a little better.
Even Voldemort felt a sense of insignificance and powerlessness when faced with such a vast and boundless ice and snow plain.
However, this feeling was like a ripple thrown into a lake, fleeting in Voldemort's mind. He only paused at the cave entrance for a moment before snapping out of the desolate sensation. Using the sun shining in the sky and the salty smell mixed with the storm to determine his direction, he took off and flew in the direction he had chosen.
The vast, white expanse of the Cold Plains is so desolate that even the occasional towering mountains and boulders are unreliable due to the fierce winds that linger over it year-round. Therefore, apart from the sun and the moon, which appears even larger and rounder than it does on Earth, there is almost no way to find one's way.
Voldemort's current task is to find the border of the Cold Plains, go to the seaside, and, according to the information from the Department of Mysteries of the Ministry of Magic and Tierra's notes on becoming a god, humans or other races living and residing in the Dreamlands would travel on huge sailing ships forged from ebony, bringing gold, silver, slaves, spices, and rare animal furs to exchange with the Moonbeasts, who possess the gold of the sky, the silver of flowing water, and the bronze of the pillars, for rubies with mysterious powers that could be used in various magical rituals.
They usually stop at Benna Bay in the northern part of the Cold Plains, a relatively calm sea area outside the Cold Plains, where there are neither huge icebergs that appear out of nowhere nor strange sea monsters that suddenly emerge from the seabed to breathe.
Merchant ships were typically painted entirely in a pungent, bright red or orange paint, because a legend, of unknown origin, claimed that the Moon Beast race and the Cold Plains inhabitants who acted as their agents disliked overly bright colors and pungent smells.
Therefore, once Voldemort reaches the coast, he can easily find the brightly painted merchant ships amidst the vast white snowfields and the dark ocean by patrolling back and forth along the coast of the Cold Plains and using some minor magic.
Once the merchant ship is located, it will only take a short while to make contact with the inhabitants of the Cold Plains and the Moon Beasts that are manipulating them.
What happens after finding the Moon Beast?
Voldemort didn't have a plan either, after all, he had very little information about these strange creatures. Even Tyella's notebook only briefly mentioned their transaction process. It's unclear whether Tyella thought it was all unimportant.
In any case, Voldemort was prepared to take things one step at a time. He was confident that with his dark magic abilities, he had a good chance of getting what he wanted, whether through friendly conversation or violent threats.
Perhaps because Voldemort was in such a hurry, he didn't notice that after he left the entrance to the Cold Plains, there was a semi-transparent figure in pajamas standing where Voldemort had just been.
The figure looked hazy and indistinct, its translucent body appearing as shimmering and dim as morning mist.
Hogwarts, Gryffindor dormitory.
After returning to his dormitory from the ball, Harry lay on his bed for a while longer reading the Half-Blood Prince's "Advanced Potions Tutorial".
It was only 9:30 p.m., and almost all of his roommates had received invitations to the Horace Slughorn Christmas Ball. It should be the craziest time of the night. Even though the fireplace in the center of the dormitory was burning brightly, the empty dormitory made Harry feel increasingly cold.
Before ten o'clock, Harry finally couldn't stay awake any longer. He shivered, put down "Advanced Potions," quickly washed up, and then wrapped himself in a cup and lay down on the soft bed. The cold weather and the warm blankets quickly lulled Harry into a dream.
In his dream, Harry felt as if he had entered a deep, dark cave.
The cave wasn't entirely dark; the rock walls around it were inlaid with many irregular, dim blue lights that allowed Harry to see barely.
The cave was tall and wide, completely untouched by human hands. The cave floor and ceiling were covered with countless stalactites, resembling small mountains or some kind of enormous tooth, making Harry feel as if he were walking inside the mouth of an unimaginably large monster.
Harry didn't know how long he had been walking in the dim cave when suddenly, a very faint but unmistakable light appeared ahead of him.
Harry felt himself quicken his pace and began to rush toward the light.
suddenly--
A desolate, blindingly white snowfield filled Harry's vision, making him feel dizzy and lightheaded.
As Harry's eyes gradually adjusted to the pure white, he was mesmerized.
In the context of his impoverished and limited life over the past sixteen years, he had never witnessed such a scene—
Such vastness has no boundaries.
A sense of wilderness washed over me, as if everything around me was empty and meaningless, and only the sand rushing towards me and the lifeless snowfield were the true meaning of life.
It was as if all the noise was gradually fading away from Harry, as if all his life, all his time, all his past and future had become meaningless.
Harry was immersed in the nothingness of nature, becoming more and more immersed, and also more and more awake.
He seemed to slowly recall something. He vaguely remembered that he had just returned from the noisy and boisterous Christmas ball in Horaceslughorn, and after reading a book in bed for a while, he fell asleep wrapped in a quilt.
Am I dreaming?
Harry wondered, puzzled.
Harry suddenly felt a chill run down his spine.
I tried walking a few steps in place.
But this made him feel even colder.
Harry wasn't sure if it was just his imagination, but he felt as if he had stepped into thick snow, and even the howling wind seemed to have seeped into his thin pajamas with his movements.
