Chapter 604 The Real Wonders of the Room of Requirement
“You mean, Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, and Rowena Ravenclaw might still be living in the Room of Requirement?” Hermione almost screamed.
“You mean Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, and Rowena Ravenclaw might still be living in the Room of Requirement?” Hermione asked again.
“I heard you the first time you said it,” Tiera said, rubbing her ears helplessly.
Even someone as intelligent as Hermione couldn't remain calm when she received such shocking news, and instead shouted it out in a loud voice.
“It’s just a possibility,” Tierra said calmly. “Even Slytherin himself wasn’t entirely sure; he only said that he could still sense a familiar presence lingering in the castle.”
“Then why doesn’t he go look for them?” Hermione asked. “I mean, if they really are in the Room of Requirement, couldn’t Slytherin just go in and look for them?”
“What?” Tierra retorted.
They were now standing opposite the enormous tapestry of "The Troll Beats Barnabas".
"I wish I had a room that would meet my needs for crafting magic stones."
"I wish I had a room that would meet my needs for crafting magic stones."
"I wish I had a room that would meet my needs for crafting magic stones."
Tiera recited it aloud three times, while simultaneously focusing her thoughts and letting them radiate outwards.
Soon, the wall directly opposite Tyella and Hermione changed.
Gradually, magical lines and patterns appeared, together outlining a very large bronze gate.
Tierra stretched out his hand and placed it on the handle of the bronze gate, then pushed it.
"crunch-"
The bronze doors slowly opened, revealing a spacious and brand-new laboratory inside.
Clean and tidy glasswares were arranged in a predetermined order on one experimental table after another.
In the very center of the room, the floor is carved with all sorts of twisted, dazzling lines, textures, and grooves.
"Should we wait here for Professor Slughorn?" Hermione asked hesitantly, seeing that there was no one in the Room of Requirement.
“No, no need.” After saying that, Tyella pulled Hermione out and then closed the door to the Room of Requirement.
“Horaceslughorn has been working here for a while now,” Tiera said.
"What?" Hermione asked, puzzled.
Tiera smiled silently.
"I wish there were a room where one second is the duration of 874 cycles of the radiation corresponding to the transition between the two hyperfine levels of the ground state of cesium-133, the gravitational acceleration is 3.70 m/s², the room temperature is always maintained at 651 degrees Celsius, and Horace Slaghorn walked into the room at 7:610 this morning."
The bronze door embedded in the wall began to dim, as if it had receded into a rough mural. The patterns on the wall began to writhe again, producing mysterious and unpredictable changes.
Soon, the patterns on the wall were fixed and transformed into a bronze door once again.
Tierra smiled, reached out, grasped the doorknob, and pushed hard—
"crunch-"
The bronze door was pushed open, revealing an empty room with only a few test benches and some inscribed runes in the center.
Beside the experimental table, Horace Slughorn, with his seal-like belly protruding, was carefully stirring something on the table.
His expression was so focused that even the opening of the Room of Requirement's door and the appearance of Tyella and Hermione couldn't disturb him.
“So you see…” Tiera said as she went in and then jumped lightly.
Tierra jumped very high with ease.
“The Room of Requirement is the perfect place to craft Philosopher’s Stones.” Tiera slowly landed back on the ground. “Of course, it’s not the only place. Mr. Nicolas Flamel’s own alchemy hut can achieve a similar effect… but it’s much more difficult to operate than the Room of Requirement.”
"It's amazing!" Hermione exclaimed, and tried to step inside as well—
"Here, take this and keep it on your head." Tyella saw Hermione trying to step into the Room of Requirement, so she shoved Hermione outside and then waved her hand a few times in the air—
A glittering crown appeared out of thin air in Tiera's hands.
“Take this with you. It can effectively block your thoughts. You can’t control your thoughts very well right now,” Tiera explained. “Let’s take an example. The temperature inside this Room of Requirement is currently twelve degrees Celsius. If you go in and feel too cold, and a few thoughts like ‘If only this room could be warmer’ flash through your mind, then the temperature inside the room will instantly rise to the most comfortable temperature for humans, twenty-six degrees Celsius. At that moment, if we were conducting an experiment that required precise control, then our experiment would probably fail immediately.”
“Oh, okay, okay,” Hermione said, taking the tiara from Tierra’s hand and putting it on her head. She then pressed it down firmly with both hands to make sure the tiara was securely fastened to her fluffy hair.
"Alright, let's go in." After seeing Hermione put on the crown, Tyella led Hermione into the Room of Requirement.
“Guoguo. It’s really cold,” Hermione said.
“Of course, it’s only twelve degrees here,” Tiera said with a light laugh. “And you have to be careful with your movements here, since the gravitational acceleration here is only 3.7.”
“What Slughorn is currently refining is the Philosopher's Stone, or rather, the Alpha-36 solvent used in the Philosopher's Stone refining process. Its main ingredient is dragon blood… to be precise, 80% Hungarian Tree-Peak Dragon blood, 13% Venom Dragon blood, and 7% Constantinople Bone Crusher Dragon blood. It is stirred continuously for 30 minutes at 12 degrees Celsius using a lead cauldron and bronze stirring rod. Then, specific amounts of Gogo tree bark, petals of the Stinging Flower, and a stamen are added in sequence, along with Tranquil Grass, Firebird Feathers, Silver Soil, Knitting Grass… and so on…”
"It will be a long time before Professor Slughorn completes the refining stage of his experiments. Let me first explain the basic principles of alchemy to you."
“Let’s get right to the experiment!” Hermione said nonchalantly. “I’ve already finished reading ‘Introduction to Alchemy’.”
“Hermione, reading ‘An Introduction to Alchemy’ and understanding ‘An Introduction to Alchemy’ are not the same thing,” Tierra said, slightly sternly.
