Chapter 538 A Fallen "Nobleman"

Chapter 538 A Fallen "Nobleman"

"Thank you, Tiera!" a werewolf wizard said sincerely. "For the first time, I have a job, a place to live, and three meals a day. Thank you, Tiera, and for your reforms!"

“Thanks to Tiera, we can walk in the sunlight and drink fresh blood!” said one of the vampire wizards.

“Thank you, Mr. Tierra! Mr. Tierra is a good master. Debbie can eat her fill now and she hasn’t been beaten since!” said a house-elf.

“Thank you, Tyella! I don’t have to be a servant anymore! I can finally have a decent job and a stable place to live! Most importantly, I have my own wand now!” said a short, stocky wizard who looked like a half-human, half-elf, half-goblin. “I’m currently attending Hogwarts Night School, and if I pass the OWLs exams within seven years, I can also apply to Hogwarts!”

"Thank you, Tiera, I have a place to stay."

"Thanks, Tierra, I have a job."

"Thanks to Tierra, I can still study."

"Thanks, Tierra, I can still go to university."

As Harry and the Weasleys walked down Diagon Alley, these were the words they heard most often.

Even in this seemingly harmonious scene, Mrs. Weasley remained tense, still holding Harry's hand and watching Ron and Ginny closely.

This scene seemed to make Mrs. Weasley even more nervous.

“Come on, children, let’s go to Madam Malkin’s Clothing Store first.” After saying goodbye to Dobby, Madam Weasley led the group toward the shops on the right side of Diagon Alley.

“Molly, are we all going to Madam Malkin’s Clothing Store?” Mr. Weasley asked. “Why don’t we let the three of them go with Hagrid, so the two of us can go to Liberty’s Bookshop and buy textbooks for everyone?”

“Yes, Jasmine,” Hagrid mumbled as he followed Harry and the others into Diagon Alley. “You can completely trust me with those three.”

“No!” Mrs. Weasley practically shouted. “We can’t be separated! It’s too chaotic here! You can’t possibly manage on your own!”

“We must act together.” With that, Mrs. Weasley shoved Harry, Ron, and Ginny into Mrs. Malkin’s Clothing Shop.

“Perhaps it would be a bit crowded if all of us went in,” Hagrid said, puzzled. He stopped in front of Madam Malkin’s clothing store, bent down, and looked through the window at Mrs. Weasley, who had already gone inside. “I’ll stand guard outside, okay?”

Mrs. Weasley did not answer, but simply nodded at Hagrid.

So Harry, Ron, and Ginny went into the small shop together.

As soon as they entered, it seemed empty, with no customers at all, but before the door behind them closed, they heard a familiar voice coming from behind a rack of bright green and blue women's dresses.

"Mom, let's go!" the familiar voice said, its tone seemingly tinged with impatience. "I'm begging you, Daisy, please? For the sake of our past relationship, can you raise the price a little?" a hoarse voice, unique to middle-aged women, followed.

“I’m so sorry, Narcissa! I really can’t go any higher.” Another woman’s voice came through, sounding quite troubled. “As you know, business has been much tougher lately. Ever since that damned ‘Magic Union Economic Law’ was enacted, granting those wretched house-elves and fairies the right to sell ready-made clothing, my business has shrunk by more than half…”

“But, but… but we really need this money, really… if you know… ever since that damned Tiera ransacked our house… ever since… we, we have nothing left…” The hoarse female voice seemed to be tinged with a sob.

"Mom, that's enough! Let's go!" That familiar voice came again, this time the impatience in the voice had turned into annoyance.

"Shut up!" The hoarse female voice burst out with anger for a moment, then turned to pleading, "Please, Daisy, just give me ten more Galleons, just ten Galleons is enough, just give me ten more Galleons and I can send Draco to Durmstrang, the headmaster there would be happy to accept Draco."

“I really can’t, Narcissa, I really don’t have that much money,” Daisy said with difficulty. “Allowing you to return the goods is already a favor because of our years of friendship. Asking for twenty Galleons is too much.”

“But, but… but I spent at least seventy Galleons on these clothes!” Narcissa said, choking back tears.

“But Madam Malkin’s Clothing Store has never had a precedent for returning anything!” Daisy’s voice was already a little impatient. “Alright, Narcissa, fine, how about I offer twelve Galleons to buy this pile of old clothes? Many of them are five or six years old and can’t be sold for much. Twelve Galleons is my bottom line. If you’re still not satisfied, you can try applying for a business license and see if you can get twelve Galleons if you take these old clothes out to sell.”

“You…” Narcissa’s voice seemed to hold a hint of resentment for a moment, but it quickly turned into a weak “Fine.”

Immediately following was the crisp sound of counting gold coins.

"Alright, it seems I have a guest, so I won't keep you any longer," Daisy Morkin said, signaling her to leave.

As soon as Madam Malkin finished speaking, a young boy with a pale, angular face and light blond hair emerged from behind the shelf. He was wearing a dull, dark green robe, and behind him was a middle-aged woman in a black, tight-fitting dress, whose face was equally pale and weak.

It was Draco Malfoy and his mother, Narcissa Malfoy.

"You!" Draco Malfoy saw Harry in an instant, his pale face flushing red with anger and shame.

"Draco!" Narcissa Malfoy shouted angrily, then glared at Harry with equal hatred, grabbed Draco Malfoy's hand tightly, and strode out of Madam Malkin's Robes Shop.

Harry noticed that Narcissa Malfoy was clutching a money pouch tightly to her chest in her other hand, as if it were more important than her life.

"Ah! Mrs. Weasley! Mr. Weasley! And Mr. Potter! What an honor to have you here!" Mrs. Malkin immediately put on a smiling face, raising her arms to welcome Harry and his companions. "Is there anything I can do for you?"

While Madam Malkin and Harry were exchanging pleasantries, Narcissa had already pulled Draco Malfoy onto the street and quickly moved away from the store.
