Harry Potter and the Great Old Ones

Chapter 529 Gringotts Gold Coins

Chapter 529 Gringotts Gold Coins
Hermione left the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix after finishing dinner.

She left somewhat dejectedly, offering only a brief farewell before crossing the foyer and stepping into the darkness of a London summer night.

There was no goodbye kiss, nor did I hug everyone.

Hermione fled from Number Twelve Grimmauld Place as if she were a stiff puppet.

"Tearella really messed with that little girl," Sirius said, half-seriously and half-jokingly, after Hermione left. Then he turned to Harry and asked, "Are they dating?"

"Sirius!" Mrs. Weasley reprimanded him sternly, seemingly disapproving of Sirius gossiping about Hermione, a minor, behind her back.

Sirius stuck out his tongue helplessly, then began to concentrate on helping Mrs. Weasley clear the table.

Although Sirius Black and Mrs. Weasley were both contemporaries of the Order of the Phoenix during Voldemort's first rise to power, Mrs. Weasley was actually eight years older than Sirius. In addition, she often scolded the mischievous George and Fred Weasley, so Mrs. Weasley's voice carried the authority of an elder reprimanding a younger generation.

Even the most arrogant wizard, much like Sirius Black, couldn't help but shrink back half a head when faced with Mrs. Weasley's reprimand.

The arrival of Harry's OWL report card and the admission notice for the Hogwarts University general entrance exam did little to make him happier.

To be precise, Harry was initially a little happy.

However, he soon became somewhat irritated by Sirius's speculation and Hermione's attitude.

Although during dinner, Mrs. Weasley kept advising Harry that "if Tyrell were truly possessed by a demon, Dumbledore certainly wouldn't stand idly by, and he certainly wouldn't choose to cooperate with him."

However, this single reason appears so pale and powerless in the face of Sirius Black's rigorous logic and solid evidence.

This made Harry a little irritable, and he went back to his room as soon as he finished dinner, not coming out until the next morning.

With Harry's birthday approaching, Mrs. Weasley and Sirius Black, wanting to cheer him up, discussed having Harry live with them at the Burrow.

In Mrs. Weasley's words—

"Let Harry stay away from the trouble and get some rest! He's already exhausted enough."

Harry thought about it for a moment and then agreed.

After all, he had no clue whatsoever about Tiera's situation and was powerless to do anything about it. Rather than grieving here in silence, perhaps living in the Burrow was a good idea.

At least Ron won't side with Tyella in everything like Hermione does.

After Harry arrived at the Burrow, he spent most of his time on the Weasleys' pitch, playing Quidditch in pairs. He and Ron would play against George and Fred, and occasionally Bill, the Weasleys' eldest brother, would take his place.

In the evenings, Mrs. Weasley would serve Harry at least three times the amount of food Ron would eat, as if she were afraid he wouldn't have enough to eat.

If it weren't for the almost daily news in the Daily Prophet about Tiera's reforms to the Magical Union, this would have been a reasonably happy and peaceful holiday.

Of course, sometimes Bill and Mr. Weasley could bring the news home before it was published, since they were the direct beneficiaries of the reforms and might even know more detailed information and what they called "insider information" than what was in the newspapers.

However, Mrs. Weasley generally forbade Bill and Mr. Weasley from discussing these things openly at home, because she believed it would prevent Harry from getting proper rest.

It's true that whenever Harry hears news about Tierra, he can't sleep soundly until at least midnight.

But Harry couldn't resist wanting to know more, so he had to ask Bill for more details—

After all, compared to Mrs. Weasley and the henpecked Mr. Weasley, Bill was more rebellious and less bound by convention. Overall, Bill's evaluation of Tyrell's reforms was mixed.

Bill believes that one of Tyrell's positive aspects is that, as soon as Tyrell came to power, she immediately launched a major purge within the Ministry of Magic, capturing a total of 133 Death Eaters hiding within the Ministry and pure-blood wizards who had secretly defected to Voldemort's side.

Almost simultaneously, Tierra… or some Tierra, single-handedly overpowered the guards of Gringotts in England on charges of illegal fundraising and harboring criminal funds, and raided all the vaults of the traitorous pure-blood families in Gringotts' underground treasury, temporarily sealing all the gold coins in the deepest part of Gringotts' underground.

Those were gold coins that rippled like an ocean, and in an instant, Tiera emptied them all and piled them in the room that the Department of Mysteries had created using the Invisible Extension Spell.

The direct benefit of doing this was that Tiera revealed all the potion recipes and magical item making methods that were previously known to the pure-blood families.

Furthermore, based on Gringotts' vast gold reserves, they introduced welfare laws for the wizarding world, implementing welfare systems such as scholarships, grants, unemployment benefits, pensions, werewolf compensation, vampire compensation, house-elves compensation, and centaur compensation.

It will provide some financial and material assistance to these vulnerable groups in the wizarding community.

The downside of doing this was that nearly half of the pure-blood families were preparing to defect from Voldemort.

However, Tiera managed to stop him before he could defect, and then raided several more treasuries and published several more patents.

Everyone immediately became quiet.

Of course, this is only an indirect consequence.

At Harry Potter's sixteenth birthday party, Remus Lupin brought some terrible news.

Lupin looked haggard and gloomy, with large gray streaks in his dark brown hair, and his clothes had more patches and scrapes than before.

"War is about to break out." After Lupin entered the Burrow, Mrs. Weasley handed him a piece of birthday cake, but Lupin did not take it and said with a gloomy expression.

"War?" Mrs. Weasley asked curiously, "With the mysterious man?"

“No, with the whole world,” Lupin said, then suddenly cursed viciously, “That Tyella has gone mad!”

"W-what's wrong?" Harry asked, trembling with fear.

Even Hermione gripped the tablecloth nervously, trembling as she looked at Lupin, seemingly afraid of hearing some bad news.

Everyone involuntarily put down their cutlery and looked at Lupin.

“Arthur… Arthur and Bill?” Mrs. Weasley asked, her voice trembling. She sensed something ominous in Lupin’s tone.

“They’re fine,” Lupin said. “It’s just that the Magic… the Magic Federation is in complete chaos right now, and they’re just too busy to keep up.”

"What happened? Lupin?"

“There’s going to be a war… I mean a big war…” Lupin said with a grim face. “The vault deep beneath Gringotts in Diagon Alley, submerged in molten lava, isn’t underground in England.”

"What do you mean?" Mrs. Weasley didn't quite understand Lupin's words.

"It means that the goblins of Gringotts have a treasure vault submerged in lava. The actual location of that vault is an underground dimension that the goblins discovered. This dimension can be connected to any of the Gringotts railway tracks on the surface by the goblins' magic," Lupin explained. "That's where all the goblins of Gringotts store their gold."

"In other words, what Tiera stole wasn't just the gold coins stored in Gringotts in Britain, but nearly 80 percent of the total gold collected and stored by all the goblins in Gringotts worldwide over thousands of years." Lupin raised his head sinisterly. "Given the goblins' greed, you can imagine what they might do."
