Harry Potter and the Great Old Ones
Chapter 311 Inspecting the Wand
Chapter 311 Inspecting the Wand
Seeing Tyella's expression, Harry instantly calmed down and, just like Tyella, kept his lips pursed and said nothing no matter how much Rita Skitta pleaded with him.
Rita Skitta was so angry she gritted her teeth, but she could only try to force a smile.
In front of everyone, she couldn't very well force herself on two fourteen-year-old wizards.
Especially when one of them is the savior of the British magical world, and the other is the famous author, Gilderoy Lockhart's adopted son—
Yes, Ritaskita recognized Tiera the moment she saw her severed hand.
Although there are rumors that Gilderoy Lockhart and his adopted son are not very close, Rita Skita has to consider the Pope's feelings, even if it's not for the cardinal's sake. Unless there is a particularly strong incentive, Rita Skita can only endure it for the time being.
The entire classroom instantly fell into an awkward and silent atmosphere, until—
A tall, elderly man came down the stairs from the second floor.
“Dumbledore!” Rita Skeeter exclaimed, looking overjoyed.
"How are you?" she said, standing up and extending a large, masculine hand to Dumbledore. "Have you read my article from this summer about the International Wizarding Federation Conference?"
“No,” Dumbledore said with a smile.
"Really? I don't believe it." Rita Skita asked with a smile. "I remember sending you a copy specifically, how could you not have seen it?"
“Oh, then Professor McGonagall must have dealt with it.” Dumbledore replied with a smile. “I spent the whole summer visiting an old friend, so I didn’t read your article. But I think it must have been something unimportant. I have Professor McGonagall handle unimportant letters.”
Tiera noticed Ritaskita's smile visibly stiffen for a moment, but continued shamelessly:
"I just wanted to point out that some of your views are a bit outdated, Dumbledore, and many wizards outside—"
“I would love to hear your frank reasoning, Rita,” Dumbledore interrupted with a smile, “but I’m afraid we’ll have to discuss this later, as the wand testing ceremony is about to begin.”
With that, Dumbledore waved his hand, signaling the warriors to sit on the chairs in the center of the classroom.
Following Dumbledore were the other referees—
Batty Crouch, who looked like he had a mental disability, Madame Maxim, who was staring fiercely at Tierra, and Igor Kakarov, whose eyes were darting around but dared not look at Tierra.
When Harry saw Dumbledore appear, he immediately sat down on one of the benches in the center of the classroom, and Tyella followed closely behind.
Fleur de la Kur and Viktor Krum had already taken their seats.
“I remember saying last Sunday that I hoped you would come to my office before nine o’clock on Monday morning.” Just as Tyrell sat down, Dumbledore suddenly asked, “Why didn’t you come?”
“Oh my goodness,” Tierra said, “I must have forgotten.”
Then, mimicking Dumbledore's tone, he said—
"However, I believe this is definitely not an important matter."
Dumbledore: ...
He raised his hand heavily, then lowered it gently.
“No, this is important,” Dumbledore said. “Come to my office after the wand inspection is over.”
"Tsk..." Tiera smacked her lips and said reluctantly, "Fine."
Ever since learning that it was highly likely Dumbledore who had put her name in the Goblet of Fire, Tyrell had become somewhat less inclined to treat Dumbledore well.
My disguise is about to be exposed, what's the point of me continuing this act?
"Please allow me to introduce Mr. Ollivander," Dumbledore said loudly to the warriors after everyone was ready. "He will be checking your wands to make sure they are in good condition before the match."
At this moment, an old wizard with two large, light-colored eyes quietly walked down from the second floor of the classroom, smiling and nodding to the four warriors as he went.
“Miss Delacour, would you like to go first?” Mr. Ollivander said, walking to the open space in the center of the room.
Fleur Delacour gracefully approached Mr. Ollivander and handed him her wand.
“Hmm…” he said. He twirled the wand between his long fingers like a conductor’s baton, the wand spitting out many pink and gold sparks. Then he brought the wand close to his eyes and examined it carefully.
“Not bad,” he said softly, “nine and a half inches…very strong…made of maple…contains…oh my god…”
“It contains a Veela’s hair,” Fleur said. “It’s my grandmother’s hair.”
“That’s why I said last Sunday that she’d have to use her ass to make me wish I were dead.” At this moment, Tyella whispered to Harry in a tone that was clearly audible to everyone.
Tierra's words instantly drew everyone's attention—
Dumbledore sighed helplessly and rubbed his brow.
Fleur de la Cour and Madame Maxim glared angrily, while the others stared at Tyella in astonishment.
It seems incomprehensible why such a young wizard as Tyella could say such things.
“Wh...what does that mean?” Naïve Harry didn’t understand the metaphor.
"Hehehe..." Tiera chuckled, "It's nothing."
Fleur Delacour glared angrily at Tiera, but made no move.
“That’s right…” Mr. Ollivander continued, “Yes, of course, I myself have never used Veela hair. I find wands made from Veela hair too sensitive and capricious… However, everyone has their own preferences, and since it suits you…”
Mr. Ollivander ran his fingers over the wand, clearly checking for scratches and dents. Then, he whispered, "Orchids in bloom!" A bouquet of flowers bloomed on the wand's tip.
“Very good, very good, you’re in good shape,” said Mr. Ollivander, gathering the flowers and handing them, along with his wand, to Fleur. “Mr. Krum, it’s your turn.”
Viktor Krum stood up, his round shoulders drooping, and with his toes pointing outwards, he walked listlessly toward Mr. Ollivander.
He shoved the wand into his hand, stood there frowning, his hands in the pockets of his robe.
“Hmm…” Mr. Ollivander said, “If I’m not mistaken, this is a product of Gregorovich. He’s an excellent wandmaker, although I’m not entirely… well…”
He raised his wand and examined it carefully, turning it over and over in front of him.
“That’s right… hornbeam, containing the heartstrings of a dragon, isn’t it?” He glanced at Krum—
Krum nodded.
"Much thicker than people usually see...very rigid...ten and a quarter inches...flocks of birds!"
The hornbeam wand made a loud bang, like a pistol firing, and a flock of small birds flapped their wings and flew out of the wand's head, into the soft sunlight through the open window.
“Very good,” said Mr. Ollivander, handing the wand back to Krum. “Then… Mr. Potter.”
Harry stood up, brushed past Krum, walked toward Mr. Ollivander, and handed over his wand.
“Aha, yes!” said Mr. Ollivander, his light-colored eyes suddenly gleaming with excitement. “Yes, yes, yes. I remember it perfectly well.”
Harry remembers it just as vividly; it all feels like it happened yesterday…
Three years ago, on his eleventh birthday, the day after he first met Tiera…
Mr. Ollivander spent a much longer time examining Harry's wand than anyone else—
Finally, he made the wand spray a stream of wine, then handed it back to Harry, declaring it was in excellent condition.
“Then…the last one…Mr. Lockhart,” Mr. Ollivander said.
Tierra stepped forward, drew the wand that the "Mad Walker" had transformed into, and handed it to Ollivander.
"Huh?" Ollivander exclaimed in surprise.
