Chapter 30 Transfiguration Lesson
Chapter 30 Transfiguration Lesson
After leaving the library, Tiera went directly to the Transfiguration classroom located between the third and second floors.
It's only 8:05 now, and the Transfiguration classroom is quite empty, with only one little witch besides Tiera.
You don't have to think twice to know who it is.
"Hi Tierra." The little witch greeted Tierra as she entered; it was Hermione Granger.
"I heard from the portrait that you left home around 6 a.m. this morning. I didn't see you at the restaurant. Where have you been all this time?"
“I went to the library,” Tierra said, sitting down next to Hermione. She took three books out of her backpack: “The Beginner’s Guide to Transfiguration,” which they were going to study in class, and “The Principles of Potions” and “An Introduction to Alchemy,” which she had just borrowed.
"The Principles of Potions? An Introduction to Alchemy? Tierra, these are books for older students, not for you to read at this age!" Hermione screamed, her voice trembling.
"Hmm... I'm just interested, I'm just looking, I'm not going to study it. If it's not suitable, I'll return it," Tiera said somewhat awkwardly, feeling that the little witch in front of her was being a bit too nosy.
“That’s good.” The little witch seemed relieved and said, “Aiming too high is not good for your studies. I understand your desire to learn magic well, but we should start with our most basic books. Look at this one of mine, ‘Major Discoveries in Modern Magic,’ which is very suitable for our age.” Hermione said somewhat earnestly, and even showed the cover of the thick book in her hand to Tyella.
“Okay, thank you for your suggestion,” Tierra replied with a smile.
Although he found Hermione a bit annoying, he respected all intelligent students.
At least Tierra knew she didn't have the ability to sit there and study a thick book when she was Hermione's age.
So even though Tyra thought Hermione was being too nosy, Tyra still responded politely.
He thanked Hermione for her advice in a polite yet distant manner.
The two of them quietly read their books.
Hermione was previewing "The Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration," while Tyella was reading "The Principles of Potions."
Until all the little wizards gradually arrived.
However, when McGonagall entered the classroom at the start of class, there were still two empty seats.
This is a magical castle. Every class, its classrooms automatically adjust so that there are just the right number of seats to accommodate each student.
"It seems we have another student who is late," Professor McGonagall said sternly.
"You can preview this first." After saying that, Professor McGonagall transformed into a tabby cat and climbed onto the teacher's desk.
"Whew~" A few minutes later, Harry and Ron rushed to the classroom.
"Luckily we made it in time, otherwise can you imagine what Professor McGonagall's expression would have been if she had seen us late?"
As soon as Ron finished speaking, he saw the tabby cat lying on the teacher's desk leap lightly and land as an elderly witch wearing a turquoise robe with a serious expression.
“This is truly Blood Mother Hell,” Ron exclaimed.
“Thank you, Mr. Weasley.” Professor McGonagall grinned through gritted teeth. “Perhaps I should turn you and Mr. Potter into a pocket watch, so that at least one of you can keep to the time.”
“We’re lost,” Harry explained.
“How about a map?” McGonagall said. “You don’t need a map to find your seats, do you?”
Harry and Ron exchanged a glance and hurriedly found the only two empty seats in the classroom and sat down.
Tyrell, who had just learned about Professor McGonagall's past from Mrs. Pince, looked at Harry and Ron with some pity.
These two poor little things have no idea how close they were to turning into a pocket watch.
"Transfiguration is the most complex and dangerous spell you will learn in your Hogwarts courses," Professor McGonagall said, clearing her throat as she stood on the podium after everyone had taken their seats. "Anyone who misbehaves in my class will be asked to leave and never be allowed to come back. I have warned you."
Then, she turned her lectern into a pig, and then back into a pig.
The students were all captivated and eager to begin learning, but they soon realized that turning furniture into animals would take a long time. After they had taken copious notes on complex and difficult concepts, she gave each of them a match and began asking them to try turning it into a needle.
Those notes are very difficult for young wizards at this stage.
But for Tierra, this was just middle school physics and chemistry.
Although the descriptions differed, Tiera could still discern from the numbers in the notes and the so-called "magic model" that this was the atomic configuration, atomic mass, and spatial structure analysis of an iron needle.
Of course, these descriptions are presented in a literary way that can stimulate the imagination of young wizards, rather than in a rigorous mathematical and chemical manner.
But these things were already in Tiera's mind.
Or rather, these are things that anyone who has gone to university will have in their mind.
So when Tierra waved her wand, chanted the spell, and thought about this knowledge, the match on the table easily turned into a tiny iron needle.
“Excellent, Tierra, excellent,” Professor McGonagall said, giving Tierra a rare smile. “Five points for Gryffindor.”
The course the whole class was really looking forward to was Defense Against the Dark Arts.
But Professor Quirrell's lesson became almost a joke.
His classroom was filled with the smell of garlic, which everyone said was to ward off a vampire he had met in Romania, for fear that the vampire would turn around and attack him.
Quirrell told them that his large scarf was a gift from an African prince who was thanking him for helping him get rid of a resurrected zombie, but no one could say for sure that they actually believed his story.
First, when Seamus Finigan eagerly asked Professor Quirrell how he defeated the resurrected zombie, the professor blushed and mumbled something about the weather.
Secondly, they discovered that his large scarf also smelled strange, and the Weasley twins insisted that it must have been stuffed with garlic.
This way, Professor Quirrell would be protected wherever he went.
Quirrell's class was filled with laughter and joy.
Almost all the young wizards were laughing at this timid, cowardly, and slightly stuttering Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher.
But only Tierra didn't laugh.
Tierra wasn't a brat. His college life taught him one thing: no matter how incompetent, funny, or annoying a teacher is, never bring your conflicts with them to the forefront.
Moreover, this teacher is not without real talent and knowledge.
The back of his head is that of the most terrifying and brutal Dark Lord in the British magical world today.
Thinking about it this way, Tyella couldn't laugh anymore.
Hogwarts' lower-year classes ended at 3:30 p.m., and their flying lessons were on Tuesdays, so Tyella didn't choose to spend the plenty of time hanging out with those mischievous kids; he was way past that age.
Instead, she went to the library to read books with the little adult Hermione.
They also dragged Ron and Harry along.
After a day of classes, Harry realized that although there were many children from wizarding families, everyone else was just like him, a dwarf laughing at a dwarf, and generally not very good.
This greatly relieved Harry, but Tyella's attitude made him worry again.
After class started, he realized that Tiera seemed like a completely different person.
Unlike when we first met, when he was a witty, humorous, understanding, and warm older brother, Tiera becomes terrifyingly serious once he starts class and has his homework and assignments in hand.
When she's being meticulous, the expression on her face is like that of Professor McGonagall or Mrs. Pince from the library.
