Harry Potter and the Great Old Ones
Chapter 14 Saint Mungo
Chapter 14 Saint Mungo
After explaining the situation to Tom, the owner of the Leaky Cauldron, Hagrid carried Tierra out of the brothel like a brown bear.
Seeing Hagrid's anxious look, Tyella, lying in Hagrid's arms, felt a pang of guilt.
St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Injuries was founded in London, England, in the late 16th or early 17th century by Mungo Bohan.
It is the most important, and perhaps only, large-scale comprehensive magical injury hospital in the magical world. The hospital's symbol is a bone and a wand crossed.
The hospital entrance is not exposed to the public, but is hidden behind the red brick wall of an old department store, much like Platform Nine and Three-Quarters.
Hagrid approached an ugly doll in the shop window and explained his purpose.
The ugly doll waved, and Hagrid took a few steps forward, passing through the glass display case and appearing in a spacious hall.
"Hello, how can I help you?" The person who greeted Hagrid was a plump, blonde witch at the reception desk. "Oh, my poor little darling, what's wrong?"
The blonde, fat witch quickly spotted Tyella curled up in Hagrid's arms.
He reached out and touched Tierra's forehead; it was frighteningly hot.
She squeezed his wrist again.
“I don’t know what happened, after I took him shopping, Tyella… this child suddenly clutched his stomach, and then his whole body was in excruciating pain…” Hagrid said incoherently, “Oh right, we’ve ridden the Gringotts minecart before, and we ate cockroach balls and dragon sausages, we’ve even been to…”
"Quick, take him to Dr. Merlego on the third floor," the fat witch interrupted Hagrid after casting a spell with her wand. "It's the plague."
"Oh, Merlin's beard!" Hagrid exclaimed as he strode forward. "Poor child, how did you get the plague?"
Hagrid took very long strides, and in no time he crossed the stairs to the door of Dr. Melego's clinic on the third floor.
Dr. Mellegau was a middle-aged man with graying hair.
The fat witch at the reception desk had obviously notified him in some way. After Hagrid brought Tierra in, Dr. Melago immediately took two bottles of potion from the tall reagent shelf.
“Luckily, wizards often get bitten by rats… Here, give him one bottle to drink, and you can drink the other yourself,” Dr. Melgo said. “After he wakes up, have him wait in the hallway for half an hour. If there are no problems, you can leave. Hmm… I’ll put it on Hogwarts’ tab?”
"Thank you for your help, Doctor." Hagrid stuffed his bottle into his pocket, helped Tierra up, and opened the vial filled with pale red medicine.
"Tons, tons, tons——"
The slightly sweet-tasting potion was poured into Tiera's mouth.
Although Tiera was very ill, thanks to the enhancement of his mental strength by the Heris potion, his consciousness was quite clear, so the red potion was easily administered.
Seeing that Tierra's complexion had indeed improved a lot after taking the medicine, Hagrid breathed a sigh of relief. He gently placed Tierra on the soft, comfortable cotton sofa outside the clinic and took off his leather coat to cover her.
"Ton—" Seeing that Tierra's complexion had indeed improved a lot, Hagrid sat down on the sofa next to him and opened the bottle of medicine that Dr. Mergo had given him.
"Hmm..." Tiera hummed softly in her sleep, turned over, and tugged at Hagrid's leather coat slightly.
A dirty paper package fell out of Hagrid's leather jacket pocket and rolled around on the ground a few times.
"Merlin's beard." Hagrid was startled, and with his large, fan-like hand, he reached forward and scooped up the dirty package.
Hagrid glanced around cautiously, and finding that no one seemed to be paying attention, he secretly breathed a sigh of relief and stuffed the brown paper package into his shirt pocket. Tierra recovered faster than expected.
The high fever subsided in less than ten minutes, and his complexion returned to normal.
However, Hagrid did not rush back. Instead, he stayed for the full half hour as instructed by the doctor, allowing Dr. Melego to check him over again and confirm that there were no problems before leaving St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Injuries and Sicknesses.
"I'm so sorry, Hagrid." Tiera said apologetically after waking up, as if he had done something heinous. "I'm really sorry."
“No need, Little Tierra,” Hagrid chuckled. “You are a student of Hogwarts, and it is my duty as the gamekeeper to ensure the safety of every student.”
Hagrid puffed out his chest, very proud of his role as the gamekeeper.
“It’s just the time it takes to drink a glass or two,” Hagrid added. “Hopefully, our little Harry won’t have to wait too long.”
After saying that, Hagrid quickened his pace, forcing Tyella to half-walk and half-run so that she could keep up far behind him.
Therefore, Hagrid, who was walking ahead, did not notice that as they crossed a square filled with white pigeons, Tyella casually tossed a black worm as thick as a thread to a pigeon that was foraging on the ground.
The white dove took it as a normal feeding, but after it ate the black worm, it suddenly convulsed, its body quickly stiffened, and it died...
……
Harry sat somewhat troubled among a group of adults, glancing occasionally toward the entrance of the Leaky Cauldron.
After buying his wand at Ollivanders, Harry wandered around Diagon Alley for a while, bought a few not-so-strange-looking candies at the candy store, and then returned to the Leaky Cauldron as Hagrid had instructed.
As Harry had predicted, he immediately attracted everyone's attention as soon as he entered the Leaky Cauldron. If Hagrid hadn't specifically told the pub owner, Tom, Harry would probably have been surrounded by people shaking hands like before.
Even so, several wizards sat around Harry, staring intently at him, making Harry feel like some fresh and delicious young meat.
Among them, Professor Quirrell, the Defence Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts, was the most egregious, giving Harry the unsettling feeling that Quirrell might swallow him whole at any moment.
But whenever Harry looked back, Quirrell would give him a timid, benevolent smile.
"Oh my god, Hagrid, Tyella, are you alright?" Harry, who had been staring at the entrance of the Leaky Cauldron, jumped off the bar stool at the bar as soon as he saw Hagrid's tall figure appear and ran towards him.
“It’s all right now,” Tiera said apologetically. “I’m sorry to have kept you waiting so long… and made Hagrid run around like that.”
“Oh, Tyella, I told you, you don’t need to apologize,” Hagrid said. “But what is it? Why did you get the plague?”
“Hmm…it must be…it must be that I was bitten by that rat when I was taking out the trash the day before yesterday,” Tiera said. “I didn’t pay attention at the time, I never thought I would get the plague.”
It's perfectly reasonable for a child from a humble background and without education to be unaware of the plague, Tierra thought to herself.
“That’s perfect.” Hagrid rubbed his hands together and chuckled. “This afternoon, you go to Ollivander’s Wand Shop first. After you’ve picked out your wand, we’ll go to Eeyore’s Owl Shop together and buy an owl for you two little ones. You know, owls love to eat mice.”
“But now…” Hagrid took out his pocket watch and looked at it, “Let’s eat first. You didn’t eat much this morning, so you must be hungry now.”
Harry and Tyrell rubbed their flat bellies.
